RE: Woody Mono Project #2, Version 2
Hey Doug, No two boats are the same right? When Its just floating there the transom has about a 1/2" freeboard. I'll get a weight on it here soon, maybe she's too heavy? The hull alone weighed in at 7.2 lbs., and I have the CG at 33%. Doug I'm also running a clutch, that may be the issue as well? It's a great hull though doug, NO DOUBT!!!!!!!!

RE: Woody Mono Project #2, Version 2
Dave and I ran our boats today! And it was great! Got to see Dave's Scarab run, and I managed to stuff the Red Rocket TWICE[X(]. I need to turn my stearing sensitivity down and I think that shoudl help. I really didn't get a chance to tune the pipe, just the carb. I had my first flattening O-ring experience on the pipe. Is there such a thing were you can run your boat for too long were you can get the pipe and header to hot to melt the o-rings? Got it home and put new O-rings in and it had a clean and clear stream coming out, so it wasn't pulgged up. Here are a few pics of the aftermath of the stuff, and a video of her running great! I must say, I can see that this boat will most likely be strictly a race boat for me because she only like to go forward FAST! (I know thats the point but...) The transom sits so low when even at cruzing at idle she "almost" takes on water. Peoblem solved though, GO FAST ALL THE TIME!!!! I going to build the same hull but raise the sides up maybe 1/2" and it should correct it. ALL IN ALL, Sweer boat I think! I am running a 70mm in the video, seems to like that better than the 80mm. I had fun Dave! (and thanks for the beer[;)]) -Ed (Can't get the video to upload right now so I will get it up when I can)

RE: Zippkits Rockett hydro build
If you want, you don't have to but you could use both of those threads to help you along the way(if you need it[;)]) since the one is the first version of the 48"mono from doug, and the other is the second version of the 48" mono also from doug, which sounds like you got that one from Mart. Anyways, have fun building it and post progress pics along the way! (obviously in a new thread[sm=bananahead.gif][sm=spinnyeyes.gif])

RE: I hate my Zen
Dan the way I see it is if he can't even get it to run in the back yard then there is no need to even try to take it to the pond. He can easily get the low needle set (regardless the carb, I didn't see he was using a 257[8|]) to get it to run in the back yard. He'll just get even more Pi@#ed (won't we all) if tbaysal2000 takes his boat to the pond when it won't even idle. To each his own though. Light reading: • Starting points for carbs WA167- H- 11/4 turns L-1 turns 257 H- 1 turns L- 2 turns 488 H- 1 1/8 turns L- 1 ½ turns 603 H- 1 ½ turns L- 1 5/8 turns 644 H- 1 ½ turns L- 1 ½ turns 813 and 813-A- H- 1 ½ turns L- 1 ½ turns

RE: I hate my Zen
http://whobbies.com/fullthrottle1.htm Watch this video ALL THE WAY THROUGH. Then when your done, watch it again....and maybe again until you fully understand this subject. TRUST ME it will help you out when your out at the pond and having problems. I think I have watched this particular video atleast 5 times (while taking notes) Once you get done watching this ask questions about what you seen.

RE: I hate my Zen
Hey tbaysal2000, don't beat yourself up over not knowing[;)] Thats why these forums are here. When you set the needles on the carb you will need to start with both High and Low needle all the way in. This means that both needles will need to be screwed all the way in until they dont screw in anymore(DO NOT force the needles to screw in, once they stoped frealy screwing in STOP!!!!!!) While looking at the carb on the engine, you will notice 2 adjustment needles. The one that is closer to the engine is the "LOW" needle. This is the only needle you can set until you can actually throw your boat in the water, then you can set the "HIGH" needle, which is located on the outside (or we could say left) of the LOW needle. The 1 1/4 turn on the Low means when you have it all the way in you "UNSCREW" it out 1 1/4 turn, then "UNSCREW" the High needle to 2 turns out. This should get you started. Dave I would have loved to see the maiden run for the Dumas but I had to take the lady out for breakfast[:)]

RE: I hate my Zen
Are you still getting little bubbles in your fuel in line? Here is a little "how to" I put together for tuning a crab. You CAN NOT set the high needle without actually running the boat[;)] because when you run the boat under load it will tend to lean out on you. • Tuning Zenoah Low end needle (always inside) - set at desired idle, 1 ¼ turns to start High end needle (always outside)—set rich first, then go lean (start at about 2 turns) Low end- set FIRST, rich first, then lean out. Listen for ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, diiiiiing, diiiiiiiiiiiiiiing (faster and faster)…. Then it will start whooing (whoo, whoo, whoo)…Then turn back ¼ turn. Low end set PERFECT! High end- Set SECOND, a little rich first, lean out 1/8 turn at a time. When it loses top end, go back to last 1/8 turn. High end set Perfect!

RE: P1 Class stepped mono??
ORIGINAL: martno1fan That looks nice Chris may i suggest that you also raise the nose a bit more to ressemble the boat your copying?,less of a slope i mean.Apart from that it looks very close, cant wait to see how it turns out.Im planning to remodel one from these plans to come up with a new hull to mould off.If you make her narrower the vee wont change but it might help stop blow overs which this design can suffer from, thats basicly why Doug came out with the newer version its narrower.Maybe that set of plans would be abetter option to start with?,plus only Doug that i know of has actually built that one so far. Mart for the rcmk try the orriginal suppliers in Korea [link]http://cart.rcmk.com/zen/[/link]
Hey Mart! I don't know if you know but I built Doug's second version as well[;)] And it's a hell of a nice hull. I put my own touch on the bottom for strakes and boy does she bite back (in a good way). -Ed
