Because you guys got both of those models home on one engine, huh? Sorry I never had the chance to participate before I moved away, Mark. But I'm glad to see the event back in full swing!

RE: 3W Tigercat F7F
There is a guy in Florida (USA) who has been flying a 3W F7F for several years. His username is "luckyb" If you search for this member you can send him a personal message ("PM"). Maybe he still visits the site and can provide you with more information. If that does not work, let me know (via PM) and I can try some of my contacts in Florida who likely know him. Good luck! Noah

RE: MOKI RADIAL Care and Maintenence
Hey, Tom! Heck yes the Avenger is still flying. And the moki 150 is running great... and has been for several years, ever since I grew a pair and stated tweaking the needles hard. Leaning it out solved everything. It's strong as mule and happy as a clam. No pump, no turbulator, no worries. And it's the "pre-2009" version, too! hahahah! Going to take it to an event in Tulsa, OK this Saturday. I'm looking forward to it! There are some serious RC warbirds enthusiasts in this part of the country! Who would have guessed? I sure knew nothing about the scene before I moved from Iowa to Oklahoma earlier this summer. Did you go to the Indiana Warbird Campaign this year? Great event... only drawback to being in OK... pretty far from Owatonna, Fond du Lac, and IWC... some of the best events in the country! Still keep in touch with J. Fassino? Does he still run Moki's?

Sorry, just noticed you are in Denmark... I'm sure there are distributors of SEP props in Europe. By the way, your plane looks great! Good luck with the Moki-powered flights!

RE: How to best categorize awards
Thanks for all the feedback. Yes, budgetary issues will limit our "awards" to printed certificates. But we'll try to get them in some simple frames from the local "Dollar Store." Even though they'll just be certificates, we feel it is important to have those who have built truly nice models (and fly them well) receive some recognition. Regards, Noah

How to best categorize awards
Looking for opinions: We're hosting a Military and Vintage Civilian (pre-1950) event at our club towards the end of the year, and we're currently discussing and organizing participation awards. We've since gotten into a discussion about how to best define categories, or whether the categories should be defined at all. My opinion is that there should be categories. For example, someone with a super detailed 1/7 model may not think he/she was judged fairly because it's a smaller plane. And I think it's true that huge models, no matter how crudely detailed, always garner more attention. For this reason I suggested there be two groups within the Military and Civilian categories: Giant (IMAA legal) and Sport (less than 80" mono-wing etc). The problem with Giant versus Sport, in my opinion, is that there is a certain negative connotation associated with "Sport." That is, sport implies (for some) that the model is stand-off scale. I'm hoping to avoid this, so I'm looking for suggestions to replace the word "sport." I was thinking "Giant scale" and "Fine scale" so that the categories would be as follows: 1) Giant Scale Military 2) Fine Scale Military 3) Giant Scale Civilian 4) Fine Scale Civilian Any other suggestions for a replacement for the term "sport?" Any other thoughts regarding the categorization of participation awards for an event focused on Military and Vintage Civilian models? Thanks, everyone.

Project, Dave? Singular?! Don't you mean projects, with a capital S? I've been waiting to hear about the resurrection of the Vailly 190 and the madness that is the huge F6F!!! But all that aside, this will be a (relatively) straighforward and fun build. Keep up the excellent craftsmanship and lightning-fast pace! Noah

Fischer P-51D Mustang, anyone?
Has anybody purchased, started building or currently flying one of these kits? Curious to learn more about this model. Just a larger version of the Comp-ARF P-51, or a wholly different and more troublesome beast? Easy enough to call Goetz about it... but thought I might probe for owner/operator/builder information first.

I'm just guessing, from my old memory banks, but I thought Nazi planes had through-and-through swastikas, so that the one on the left side would appear correct to you, Casey, while the one on the right side of the plane would appear as displayed in the picture. That model in the picture might be more correct than you (or I) know! I'm sure someone will know more and chime in soon...

RE: Charlie Kellogg's TBM Avenger Build
Peter, yeah I just re-read your post... 35cc would not pull the Avenger. I just saw Evo radial in your post and my mind went straight to 7-77. Even the 7-77 might be marginal, but that's not based on any personal experience. The Z-DC-3 with 14 cylinders popping would be incredible! Hope to see a thread or pictures some day (and video/audio of twin 7 cylinder radials). Those will be thirsy beasts! What do you estimate... like $30 CAD/flight?!?!? Perhaps the scale fidelity and the "cool-factor" off-set that consideration (it would for me, at least!). How far along are you on that project? Noah

Jeze, is that really a full-sized human being crouched behind Brian's P-47?!? Man, that that is big. Wish I could have seen one of the "big-six" with the ZDZ 420. I'm sure it had plenty of power, huh?

Peter, check with Tom here on RCU (username Maxam). He has owned and operated nearly all production radials, from Moki to Seidel to Evolution. Look in one of the Evolution radial threads, and send him a personal message/PM. He'd love to tell you about all that he has gleaned from his experiences. Where are you going to stick the Evo? Are you re-fitting the Avenger? Chic, glad you caught the washout issues before it manifested in flight. Keep up the efforts! Larry, it'll happen when you both are ready. Slow, steady and sure is the best policy. Ray, that Fleet is awesome. Based on what I saw in your thread, I'm excited to see you apply your skills and focus to Charlie's Avenger! Thanks for the updates, guys! Noah
