RE: Plane guy wanting to get a RC truck - LOVES 1/5 scale looks and GAS!!!
Good idea - I'll do that when I get home! Here's a close google map view.... http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&expIds=17259,26637,26657,27356,27360,27384,27425,27446&sugexp=ldymls&xhr=t&q=7201+veterans+memorial+highway,+scottsville,+ky&cp=47&qe=NzIwMSB2ZXRlcmFucyBtZW1vcmlhbCBoaWdod2F5LCBzY290dHN2aWxsZSwga3k&qesig=2rSoE79mWh2bys0no7a73A&pkc=AFgZ2tkd-uzSZTZAEIg_eICpZyYVLgZVtOnQJ1_dgwe9JtzQABli12s1WebqfPCI-wnW9O2A92u2hWQmAgUzIoVs85bQBCAjfg&safe=off&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wl You'll see the dirt road (that's now paved) and the mini-storage isn't shown but it's just our first building so it's not taking up much room.

I have a possible trade on a Baja buggy with a guy for one of my smaller gas planes. Hopefully that will go through and I can be running soon.

RE: Carl Goldberg PITTS S12 MONSTER
You will have more than enough power with the YS-120 but your wallet will hurt more on the fuel end. If you have the Zehoah use it - if not - I would go with something a little lighter (unless you have the Ralph Cunningham special) Not a JR guy so I can't help you. On my Futaba they are all getting their own channel - no Y here!

RE: Nylint 1/6th scale Rock Crawler
Actually, he has the scorpion - not the jeep - I was mistaken. Just like the one in the ad. I found an eBay auction to show the radio and battery to him. I'm pretty sure he doens't have the battery and the radio might be questionable. However, you are looking at close to $30.00 just to ship this thing. PM me an offer or an e-mail and I'll have him send you some pics.

RE: Nylint 1/6th scale Rock Crawler
My parents own a consignment shop and dad asked me to research a vehicle he has....Yep, you guessed it. 1/6th scale Jeep. It's huge but he's not for sure on the size of battery or which one of the 20 million radios he has that goes with it. Any of you guys with one of these or that had one can help me out I would appreciate it. Yes, he will sale it but he's trying to put the right radio with it, battery, etc...

RE: Plane guy wanting to get a RC truck - LOVES 1/5 scale looks and GAS!!!
I really like the 5T with just the looks so far... Not much of a "rail" looking guy like the 5B but I understand they are basically the same vehicle. Hoping to pick up one used but will see how it happens. Haven't heard of the FG's, Red Rampages, etc... since I'm not in the hobby but anything you can buy from Tower I know... It's almost impossible when I read over a few of the threads to even start thinking about the knowledge that some of you guys have... I just want to have fun in a big way!

RE: Plane guy wanting to get a RC truck - LOVES 1/5 scale looks and GAS!!!
ORIGINAL: skidooman i really like my nutech monster truck 4wd. i would imagine the 2d hpi 5t is a pretty nice machine as well, but my nutech was much less money and 4wd to boot. talk to scott at zerogravity rc. he can give you the lowdown on all the 1/5 scale gas trucks btw the gas cars are much more fun than the electrics or nitro's. what kind of gas planes do you have? i dont think i have ever seen a gas plane before. they must be big.
I've had planes anywhere from 26cc upto a 150cc bipe... I'm more electric now and only have one 26cc gasser bipe left now. So, it sounds like I'm NOT crazy for going straight to a large scale truck for my first turn around the dirt!

I have several large planes I plan to sell to fund the purchase but I would like to keep in the $1000 range or under..... Or is two glow (yuck) or electric 1/10 scale 4wd monster trucks more fun?

RE: Plane guy wanting to get a RC truck - LOVES 1/5 scale looks and GAS!!!
I really don't have an opinion between 4wd and 2wd. All I'm planning to do is run it around in an open field with no real jumps. If I was going glow - it would HAVE to be 4wd just because of the size but with the larger 1/5 scale I think I would he happy with either one. I have a sloping 4 acres behind our mini-storage that joins up to the backyard of the house. Literally, it's just a great area to run and we might eventually cut a dirt track into the field but that's pretty much it.

Plane guy wanting to get a RC truck - LOVES 1/5 scale looks and GAS!!!
Okay, guys - I've been around RC planes for years, glow, electric, and gas. However, I'm wanting to get into something I can do with my dad. Would love to get into RC trucks - not racing, not competition, not anything but running around in the back 4 acres of our house with him. I'm really liking the Baja 5T looks, size, and the fact that it uses GAS and not GLOW (aghhhh). Am I crazy for starting with something this big? Seriously, it's the ONLY truck I will own, PERIOD. Do NOT plan to get into big time (dad's not that type either) but want something that we can have a lot of fun with. Thanks for the advice!

NO way does this plane need a 55cc gasser! I would look at the Syssa 30cc today if I was still motor shopping for this plane.

Awesome looking Jet - no response from the offer yet so who knows. I've got everything to get it going but a switch and rudder servo.

RE: Carl Goldberg PITTS S12 MONSTER
HOLD YOUR BREATHE! I just received an offer on the plane... I told him it was asking price or no deal. I really love this plane and want to fly it but I've not been to a flying field to fly in almost 3 years now! Wow, life really sucks sometimes... I was reading all of the stuff at the first of the thread and it made me really laugh at myself. First the motors.... I went through 2 other motors (FPE 1.3 and Roto 35vi) before I went with the MVVS 26. VERY happy with that decision. Then I saw where I had made mention of building a garage with a hobby room and instead I ended up buying another house and selling that 7 acres. The other house had a building in the back that we then opened up a new retail store in (and included a hobby room for down time).... Sold the 87" yak-54 I had bought but replaced it with the new 88" 3 years later or so.... It's been a crazy ride for myself and the family (oh yeah - I've added a son since then!) but it's been fun in so many ways. Either selling or flying this thing will bring a chapter to a close in my life. Kind of sentimental....

RE: Carl Goldberg PITTS S12 MONSTER
Okay, almost 6 years later and the plane is still sitting in my hobby room unflown and that's just RIDICULOUS when you consider my excitement about this plane. I had even posted it for sale, took it down, put it back up, etc... (it's listed right now) but I think after reading through this thing - I'm going to FLY IT!!!! I haven't flown a large plane in a while but have had everything from park flyers up to a 35% Pitts Model 12 and it's time this plane gets flown. Wish me luck Bird-Dog, V-snap, and a few others that have been on this thread from the beginning!!!

RE: Roto 35 Four Stroke?
TBM just picked up the roto line for the US again and is pushing the 35 as one of their first models to introduce the line. If the 3d four-stroke is of any quality similar to the 2-stroke - you can NOT go wrong - probably a little heavier than the rest but that much more / better built.

Tower has spare parts for the chippy instock. I just sold mine with out the roto so we will never know how the plane was finished with the roto. They also have new cowls, etc... instock.

RE: Extreme Flight 88
ORIGINAL: House2twist Just got back from my maiden!! WOOOOOOOOOO [:D] this thing flies awesome. Only got one flight on it (had to be home early) but damn was it fun. Only needed 3 clicks of right aileron and about 5-7 clicks of up. Hands off inverted overall just flew great. Didn't really do anything crazy since the engine is still on break in. Perfect 3 pointer first shot too. I can't wait to fly this again! I was all smiles after my knees stopped knocking together.
that's awesome. Use your turnbuckles on the ailerons and that will take care of the trim there. I never checked the incidence on the stabs but it could be a little off since it's one of the first yaks in the country. Congrats and glad it's treating you well.
ORIGINAL: House2twist Thanks for the tip Joe. I know I got one of those buckers lying around somewhere. I think we're looking at a maiden this weekend if my extra switch gets here in time. I just don't feel safe running 1 r/x pack, not sure why, but it just bothers me.
Any flight reports yet?

RE: Extreme Flight 88
I think the pic above is of the 110 or a different larger plane using two elevator servos per elevator half???? Nice setup - I used the deans as well but only closer to the rx since I don't pull the stabs off. To get the CA out of the carpet, soak in Acetone and blot up with paper towels, it will take FOREVER to get it all but you will eventually. Same method for getting it out of blue jeans (use search) but with that said, you could always get a carpet guy to cut a patch and replace it from a piece in a closet.

RE: super chipmunk 120
A lot of us installed gassers ranging from 26 - 40cc in the GP models. Should be no problem and helps get the weight forward.
