RE: Thunder tiger ST-1
ORIGINAL: kawpow321 so the losi 427 was a ripper huh
I got it with a ton of miles on it, and some good compression. Ran it till I said "worn enough" and got a new piston and sleeve. Sadly though the wrist pin retainer broke after 1 gallon and RIP lil engine :(... imagine my horror changing the glow plug after break-in and seeing a nicely marred piston and sleeve [:(]

I do have to say though that it is one fuel PIG if you don't tune it right. My favorite though is the Mach 427 teal head engine with the Losi Sport pipe. That was insane [X(] helped to have fuel economy also [:)] Right now my poor car sits waiting its final fate. I'd go AX10 all the way. The axles can be picked up cheap and the aftermarket stuff is huge and if you needed anything made, i'd have an easier time knowing I can make it for my rig. Hmm... not that Rock Crushers are bad but HPI Rovers and Sedonas are amazing! I run Sedonas on the front of my Axial rig and Rovers in the rear and love the chunky tread design of the Sedonas, they just stick to the rocks. Star cutting foams... never done it, doubt I will. RE: Just got a Rock Force
In general for crawlers I try and go for a pretty soft suspension setup so the car can conform to the rocks better, but also one without miles of articulation. At most I go about 1 tire or soda can high. Generally I run a pretty soft spring with a medium weight {40-50 wt} shock oil. Since the car is worm driven you can go pretty soft on the suspension and not deal with the torque twist that other rigs can suffer from.

RE: I don't know what to do!
I make my own chassis but i got the aid of CNC mills [:)] Simply put here's how I made mine before all that fun stuff! Lay the car out at the wheelbase you want. Attach the link sizes you want for the lowers {who cares about the uppers for now} Also attach the shocks to the car Take a big sheet of cardboard, graph paper, whatever you like to use and set it up against the links. Set the aprox shock angle you want Take and mark the drill points you want also. Then trace around it an aprox shape, keep it simple, you can make it fancier later. Transfer to either some aluminum or Delrin plastic Drill holes Cut design out And hey-presto were done [8D] If you want any more help, lemie know, i have done this long enough to know a thing or two about making them [:)]
