RE: RC Guys Super Decathlon coming
OK guys, I'm back in the assembly mode on the decathlon......I brought it from the cold garage work bench back into the house so I can get it finished for a low wind, warmer day test flight. I like scale airplanes quite a bit as I have a 100" J-3 CUB Hangar 9, a 106" J-3 CUB Hangar 9 (still unassembled), a Cessna Skylane 95" Hangar 9 (an awesome flyer), an SNJ (T6) 82" ( still unassembled), and the Decathlon. Eddie of cold OKC, OK

RE: RC Guys Super Decathlon coming
If you think it is cold in IL, you need to come to OKLAHOMA CITY where there is the ice storm and no electricity....... I happen to be one of the lucky ones to still have power so far. Nothing to do but work and go home to finish my decath I guess. Have a good flying day soon, Eddie

Eric, Your plane looks awesome...... I wish mine was finished. Your panel looks fine. They can hardly be seen through the tinted windows anyway.. Happy flying days ahead, Eddie

Scott, I put the pic of the instrument panel on the post. I'm not finished with the detail work yet, but here is a pic of the panel in the plane so far. I still have to paint the interior gray & black. Thanks, Eddie

Scott, It's cannonball200 here who is using the Saito 180 also. Thanks for the heads up on the down thrust washers etc. I will just try it from the start and see what happens. Thanks for working out the hard trial & error stuff for us. Eddie of OKC

RE: RC Guys Super Decathlon coming
Hi Al, I use those type of servo screws also. They are great to use for all kinds of fastening. You can insert some thin CA glue into the small holes also. Good luck with your new Decath,,,,,,,,,,,,I hope to get mine in the air soon too. I'm using a Saito 180 that I had. There are lots of great engines that can be used in this aircraft. Eddie C of okc

RE: RC Guys Super Decathlon coming
I usually drill a small hole through the servo plate into the servo block and insert a small screw to help the glue hold the block for a little insurance.. Can be (2) screws also.. It is not good when one of these comes unglued!! cannonball200 of OKC........................................

RE: RC Guys Super Decathlon coming
Hey Scott, I always reinforce these type of servo mounts that come in arf kits. I have had those come loose in other kits before. Good to hear everything ended up ok. I have the 180 in mine too. I'm not quite ready to fly mine yet. cannonball200 Eddie....

Old Dutch, you are going to miss out on a great looking rc airplane. With a little time in measuring & fitting, the cowl is fine. I think the guy's are doing ok. Can't wait to get mine in the air. My flying buddie's are impressed with its looks and quality. Just get one and work out the little stuff. cannonball200

Geezer is right on !!!!! I run all my Saito's inverted with no problems at all. I have 2 180's, 1 150, and 1 125. Save your money unless you have a twin and need the insurance. cannonball200 of OKC

RE: New Flatouts from GP & comparision to Shockies
I am only familar with the "REFLECTION" and can report to anyone with interest that it is the best flying foam airplane (indoor) kitted. I have 2 of the originals and have seen many here in OKC (where the plane was designed and tested) fly. It is truly awesome. You had better order at least 3 of them..........Thanks, cannonball200 of OKC

RE: ETOC Winner
I don't know about Scott's plane being produced but, you will be able to purchase a production model of Sean McMurtry's "Reflection" next month. Great Planes kitted it for production soon. It fly's awesome. Look for the Great Planes "REFLECTION" real soon and buy one. You will love it.

RE: Poker
Marc, The 6000 point guy deal is a joke I will agree. I like playing to releive the stress also and it is just plain fun. I have played nearly every time and hung in there for a few days till the funny stuff starts happening. Thanks any way for the game. Just make it straight up with no wrinkles....

Here's the Stearman with a Saito 180 installed.. The balance is pretty close without any ballast weight up front..I'm going with the bottom wing servo's /w/connecting rods that are with the kit.. Cannonball200 of OKC.. See my Gallery for more pics..

RE: GP Super Stearman
The 2.4 would work ok. I had a Fox 2.4 on my Patty Wagstaff and it was not overpowered at all. With the 2.4 I would not have to add 18 oz of lead to the weight box provided. I think I will go with the 180 Saito though. Cannonball200 of OKC

RE: GP Super Stearman
I fly at Westside RC Field just west of OKC 10 miles (Yukon, Ok)..but there are several nice club sites around here. The Guthrie "Big Bird fly in" will be the first weekend in June(pray for good weather)..This has always been fantastic, you need to be there. About 20 miles north of OKC just off of I-35. I installed a Dubro 20 oz in mine. It's been a while, but I think it went in easily. Yoy will love how the Skylane flies. (180 Saito). Pic of mine is in my gallery. Also has the new Robart Strut#C182HA9 which works awesume..Full flap landings ....man o man... Cannonball200 of OKC

RE: GP Super Stearman
I bought my Super Stearman on Monday and have it nearly together by Wednesday evening. I'll be going with a Saito 180 Golden Night, or a Brison 2.4.. The plane goes together with excellence. I opted for a new chip hyde tail wheel which looks great. Cannonball200 of OKC

RE: H9 Skylane Windscreen trouble
You can work it into place with the dash in the plane(not glued). Be sure and iron the covering on the dash top before installing it in the plane. Mine has wrinkles and haven't found a way to shrink them out without messing up the windshield. Once I got the windshield in place, I never took it out. CANNONBALL200 of OKC

SKYLANE HANGAR 9 95" Rudder Linkage Fix
Using 4/40 ball links on the control rod, screw on a nylon swivel clevis on the threaded part of rudder arm. ( Part # GPMQ3860) Grind out enough balsa so it will clear the fuse and bolt the ball link between the two clevis extensions. This gives more leverage and torque to the rudder and also helps its centering. Cannonball200 of OKC
