RE: Diesel 4 strokes
Andy, when I did the homelite 25 cc it worked really good but you will need to make a better ring or get one from Frank Bowman. Its funny because after 3 tanks of fuel it seemed to get alot better " breaking in". I just did it for fun there real cheap but I cut the grass at the airfield a couple times with it . Makes some funny noises when it started like a big tigre but when it warmed up it was one of the most smooth and content conversions I've ever done If you go back or search for homelite you'll find it here the post was 05/09/2006 dated. enjoy, Brian

Your right Hobbsy- you can't beat the bigger props they'll swing. period I prefer the instant thrust and lower noise. Brian

RE: OS 160 Conversion
I did one awhile ago and I think the best prop was a 20-8 or a 18-10 and came alive and only burned 1.5 ounces per minute if I remember correctly. ran as smooth as the big tigres but the carb was a touch to big although not a big problem. This was one of many I tested and faired really well through testing. It would also swing a 22-10 if needed but that was max. smooth power range. Brian

RE: homelite 25cc diesel conversion?
Yes, I did one a long time ago - you need to close the ring gap up alot. It was harder to start but it ran well once warm, needed a smaller carb- for which I made a insert . I cut the grass at the airfield many times with it , The guys thought it was the neatest thing going. If I recall I was swinging some real big string and when you floored it the thing would twist your arm off. I wish there were more guys trying to make this stuff work because its alot of work but very rewarding when done. There was also a guy who did a mac 28cc where I got the idea. The post was started on 5/28/04 check back in these forums. Brian

RE: homelite 25cc diesel conversion?
Ralph, you need to remove the cylinder and lathe the top off . I epoxyed the 2 fins below and put nuts under to hold the head on like regular heads are held on. If I remember I made 2 heads for my 160fx os and 2 for my 3000 tiger one of which needed very little "cohersing" to make fit. Although its alot of work there are alot of problems here you have to make work- like ring gap for which Frank Bowman will make anything you want. The head to cylinder fit must be perfect and the fuel system is a whole new ballgame to. You really respect Bob Davis and others for giving so much hard work to make something work which shouldn't !! It was a fuel miser also. If I remember right the ring gap was closed up more then 5 thousandths- memory fading sucks-.When I first tried to start it the contra was almost touching the piston but it started but was weak- when I put the smaller ring in it that was a fix for one problem- next was flywheel effect which IT needed- I put larger string in and drilled 2 new holes for 2 more that helped alot it seemed expecially when trying to make something work which shouldn't. Then I could only open the carb half way and it would cut right off and I mean cut off! so I made a slug for the carb which helped but the new smaller carb did the trick. Finding the right timing was easy but it is on the bigger motors it seems. This was a well broken in motor to start with= I recommend you use a very good motor not a weak junker. After that I was going to do a echo but health went down the tubes and stopped me. Seems echo or stihl are great to start with also. The picture was when it still had the mag and all on it. When the mag and all the extra stuff was removed it became very light to ===a great plane motor=== alot of work but alot of fun- watch all your club members when they smell the diesel and see the smoke ! RE: ENYA 41 4 STRK DIESEL NOW LISTED
Dan, for 475.00 you can get a pretty good size lathe and make all the heads you want ! Nothing beats hearing your work start and purrrrrrrrrrrrr ! I still love my four stroke diesel the most although its alot of work ! Brian

65 la
Hello Bax, My problem is my new 65 la is on it's 2nd tank of fuel and the front bushing is pumping out oil. The engine run's GREAT !!!!!!. This is my 21st os motor and it is my 5th la and the only one to do this. All my motor's run on 0 nitro and 20% castor. It did this from minute one! I broke my new la 46 in last week with no such problem's on the same fuel. I alway's pull the plug and put castor in the carb before running all motor's 2 or 4 stroke. I will hate to send it in for service " my first os to do so" but what do you think???? Thank's, Brian

RE: MVVS 1.44 twin
Yes, Jaka, I will blame mvvs for the problem buy the reed plate has a way to small hole which I drilled to 1/2 inch then radiused with a dremel and the walbro carb with the butterfly only need's to have the needle seat drilled and with the needles removed- remove the plate with 4 screw's, follow the two needle's where the jet meet's at 90 degree's and the hole's need's to be about 10 to 15 thousandth's bigger! with these minor fixes mine run's great. RE: MVVS 1.44 twin
Guy's, I don't want to start a fight here but it was a very easy fix and although it was the factory's problem, I had the knowledge and now I have a GREAT RUNNING 144 twin ! drilling the jet's and opening up the reed plate is not rocket science but it really made a difference! I have yet another great running mvvs. P.S. my mvvs 49 carb sucked until I ground the low needle down to a point also! Brian, I love walbro carb's

RE: MVVS 1.44 twin
Also Jaka, it seem's to me the k&b long idle bar plug's are the best for me, my 144 will idle forever and not drop a cylinder but, it took a VERY lonnnngggg break in with my own mix fuel 0% nitro and 20% oil and 3% acetone-still one of my best engines!!! Brian

nutn2it, there is plenty of os 26 surpasses around but the smallest was the os 20 4 stroke but not many around - you'll find the new 30's are great as well. Brian

RE: "Gadjet"'s diesel conversion
Jen's, your right when i start doing my os 52 4 stroke I'm doing a lanova cell to. you need to avoid the glow plug and add kero or diesel to the fuel mix. The asp 80 4 stroke diesel will be running again soon. The gadjet might work for some but not everybody. Brian

RE: OS LA .46
Dar, I'm not trying to start a conflict but Bob Davis said you could use a 12-8 13-7 with no problem and I have. I would never try such a prop on glow but they fit my deal prefectly and it worked great! The la 46 is not only cheap but pretty cocky when diesel! Brian

RE: OS LA .46
Funny that after 2.5 gallons of fuel it still run's great. That is alot of time for a diesel to run while sipping fuel and have no problem's. I just pulled the cover and it look's great no wear and the compression is great. I tried numerious prop's and this fit the package best !!!
