RE: *Seagull Extra 260 90 ARF*
well i took your advise and inspeccted all the moving parts. i found that all of them had some warp to them. i spent the time to iron them all straight and then reset them. it is like a different plane. it did not snap on it's own once in four flights yesterday but most of all it's slow flying was dramaticly improved. thanks for reminding me of the basics!

i sailed my 1966 sailboat into monomenee, mi. two weeks ago. it was a friday about 3 pm. i walked over three blocks and up one and located balsa USA, meet dave the designer loked around the plant and feel in love with they'r neuport 11. dave drove me and my new kit back to the harbor when he asked to see my boat. we both admired each other's deciplenes not chastised them. happy flying, capt

RE: An ARF Nation
i assembled a heath kit rc radio system in the 60's but now i use a manufactured one. i built alot of kits in the 50's thru 70's and now i fly manufactured ones. built a sailboat once but now all my boats have been manufactured in plants full of skilled workers. i used to drive steel ships a 1000 feet long ( i did not build them) and when the broke down i called the engineers to git them fixed. the manufacturing companys in the USA that i invested in so many years ago are still sending me checks. i found that my skills are in operating things. i also have learned that for me, i get to do alot more operating of the toys if i use others to build and or repair. i do alot of maintenance on alot of my toys but i i farm out as much as posible because it is running of the toys that i like best. i love to build things but i like to operate things so very much more. happy flying , capt

RE: hANGER 9 P-51 mUSTANG EARLY VERSION
i fly my H9 P51 with stock retracks off of grass fields without any proplems what so ever. i am sure i have over 500 fights with this plane without any retract issues. early on while getting a feel for the plane i had to occasionally bend them back into place but thats been awhile. sure these retracks "Wooble" but i want that flexing in the grass to relieve any stress to the wing. i have really injoyed this plane and think you will get used to it..i will say that i do not taxi on the grass much. i put her on the runway pointing up wind and when i land i hand carrie her back to the pits. happy flying, capt

ralph white, have you had a chance to fly your plane yet? r.c. i to reinforced the inside of the landing gear area. when my first plane bit the dust the reinforcement was one of the few areas that stayed intact so i repeted the prosess this time around. as far as the flying it is the best 90-120 plane that i have found. happy flying , capt

the process has now begun starting with the easy stuff. nose cone removed and a dubro spinner prop nut in its place with a savings of 2oz. i want to palance this bird at 3 & 5/8" ( just my preference) and i am still just slightly forward of this. tomorrow i am ordering a vess prop so to save weight from my apc . the real chalenge will be getting some weight out of the stearn. i have the tail feathers from my crashed plane to open up to consider the posibilities. happy flying , capt

maidened the plane and it flys great. not one click of trim needed.vertical was slower but still unlimited. i will be having some fun with this plane.the tracking was fabulas, just smooth as silk. it is a little heaveier than before but so is my wife. next winter i'll but put both of them on a diet and see what happens.i am sure i will have better luck with the yac. for now it is summer time here in the great lakes region so i will be playing outside till the snow flys. RE: Introducing the new 90-1.20 Yak QB
today i completed the assembly of my replacement yac. all good. this bird seems to be sterdier then my first one and i like that. when i went to ballance the plane she was tail heavy so i moved the battery next to the fuel tank and it still required 1&1/2 oz to achieve 3&5/8 ballance point which i liked on my first plane. so that was different. i did coat the engine area and the landing gear area (all forward of the ballance point. i also put on the nose cone this time for the fun of it (also forward of ballance point) but again did not go with the wheel covers. she however felt heavier then i remembered my first yac to be. we all know the mind can play tricks. so for the fun of it i got a digital scale and guess what, she came in at 11lbs 1oz. over 1& 1/2 lbs more then the first plane. same motor, same gear, same enhancments, we all know that the weight of balsa can very alot. i am sure it will fly fine but not like her thiner sister did. this is a 15% heavier and the only thing it can be has to be wood density. i am sure she will last forever what with as strong as she seems to be. HAPPY FLYING, capt

RE: Introducing the new 90-1.20 Yak QB
tonight i put in the radio, reciever, elevater, rudder, all servos, pull pull cables, aft wheel, main landing gear(reinforced internally with west system epoxy and popcycle sticks such that i now use 1" bolts to secure) and am pleased with the results. i fly off grass so i alwas like to reinforce the gear for the unexpected lump or bump. i do not use wheel covers in grass-to much mantainence. i do not use a spinner - dead weight. i love my saito 150 would never conceder going gas. every time i fill with fuel or get a wiff of the plane as it flys by it takes me right back to my childhood where i was flying my big fox35 in my u-control nobler out behind the grade school. the 150 flys this plane hugh. so i'll try and slip her in place tomorrow and get this bird finished. my first one flew great so i am hoping this repacment will be as good. RE: Introducing the new 90-1.20 Yak QB
well tonight i returned to assembling my new (replacment) plane and i have run into a snag. all the movable control surfaces have 6-hole duel control horn pre-drilled in them but i have 4-hole single control horn hardware like that which came with with my first plane. i am guessing they grabed the wrong templet during construction. well i assume AW will help me out and i wll upgrade to a duel-control horn system but i am womdering if my push-rods will stil fit? anybody else run into this situation? i do want to say that i really liked my first plane alot but the replacment seems to be even have better construction detail. happy flying, capt

RE: *Seagull Extra 260 90 ARF*
nice pictures, thanks for sharing! i was out flying the 260 again tonight and of course i am still loving how it is flying.so lets talk props for an os91fx. if one reads the manual one would assume that your choises are good BUT go to tower hobbies then os91fx then read their tec write up and you will find there is updated prop info and then go to OS web page and there is another update for props on this engine that are similar.it all boils down to - this engine needs, likes, wants, does best at high RPM. 13/6, 13/8, 14/6 and let her rip. look i am still running on the rich side, and she still warbells at mid range and iam am getting unlimited vertical with the 14/6 ( it is not fast but she keeps going up ). i expect to get more with some more time on this engine and then a little leaner setting. i like the 13/8 also. inthe the future i plan to switch from apc to vess which seem to me to be more efficent yet. while still at these sizes. happy flying capt. PS, your wife is correct !

RE: *Seagull Extra 260 90 ARF*
i was flying this plane yesterday and it is fun. at 8 cm i get inverted flight with no down pressureon the stick so i recomend not starting any farther aft.. really i will recomend you start at 7 cm to get a feel for the plane and then move aft. at 8 cm as i slow towards stall speed she does get a little more tip stall sensitive bit still very managable. do not misunderstand, this is a very stable flying plane. so far i like 14-6 prop with the 91 for this plane.happy flying, capt

RE: Introducing the new 90-1.20 Yak QB
peak electronics inc.'s sirius charger fast charges rx & tx ni cads without ANY heat increase of the batteries. they claim that there are never any memory issues, infact they say their system will cure a battery with issues. i charge my planes every flight while i fuel and so i can fly an unlimited number of flights on any given day. i run small jr 6v 1650 rx pac that wieghs 6.2 oz. james 3oz pac sounds great because i am 'light as posible nut" when setting up a stunt plane however i hate to wait on batteries at the field. with the sirius i never wait at all. so i am currius if one can fast charge these new batteries at the field without heat issues or cycling issues so i can fly all day NON-STOP? any time i can save wieght i am interested. Happy Flying, capt

RE: *Seagull Extra 260 90 ARF*
watchin your vidio was great, thanks for sharing. after reading ezchoppers opinion about balancing this bird i opted to follow the directions, balance at the wimg tip and i went for the 8cm mark and find this to be nice. when inverted i need just slight down pressure as well as very docile slow flying. i do fly this bird with a os91fx and it rips thiis plane thru the sky, wieghs less, doesn't need the extra fuel on board. i am sure the 120 is bitching but i feel th 91 rocks in this also. the 91 is a much higher reving engine than the 120 and proped accordenly. just my 2 cents.
