RE: Earthquake 8E - Owner reviews
Thanks for the tip on diff. weights. I'll reach out to Kurt and ask him a few questions on programing the ESC. I'll also order the washer set to have on hand.

RE: Earthquake 8E - Owner reviews
Thanks for all the great tips and info. i received mine and have already taken it out for a spin. My first advice is don't start to drive this beast in the street. I connected with a curb before I could break and I am off to a few part replacements. One thing I must say for the parts to fix RedCats is they are reasonably priced. My Kyosho Turbo Optima (a name from the past) used to cost me an arm and a leg to replace parts, and they always were sold in sets, many times with things I did not need at that time. Even after a temporary fix it still runs like a demon. I see that the ESC programmer is out of stock with Kurt, but I deffinitely need to tune this down a bit. It's a bit to agressive for me to get a good feel for things (before I end up with to many fixes). As for the diffs, do they come will grease and if not what weight should I be using. I will slowly break them in then look to shim them. Are the shims easily available or do I need to make something. Thanks again for all the posts.

Earthquake 8E - Owner reviews
Greetings fellow racers, I am awaiting my Earthquake 8E from RedCat Racing. I have watched many You Tube clips of this beast. It looks like it is durable and fun. I was hoping I could get a candid review of anyone that owns one of these. Are there any things I should be aware of in setting it up such as ESC, shock oil, diff grease,....etc. I have ordered the wheelie bar as it looks very prone to flipping. I bought my car from URC Hobby and they look to have a slew of parts and I have read they have a great customer service. I would appreciate any help on this topic. Thanks Phil

Reciever for my HiTech Flash 4
Hello, I am returning to the hobbie of flying my glider after 22 years. I would consider myself a beginner for the second time. My radios are all illegal to use and I am being given a HiTech Flash 4 transmitter. I will need a receiver and am looking to see if anyone has a compatible receiver they would be willing to part with. I would gladly pay for it but I am on a budget. I only need 3 channels for the glider but a 4 channel would be great. I am also looking to electrify my old Oly II, and was told that this set-up would work quite well. If anyone knows of anyone with some of this gear available please let me know. Master Airscrew gearbox/motor/prop combo with maybe 800 or 1200 mah nicad pack Thanks

HiTech Flash 4 for my Oly II
I am getting a HiTech Flash 4 transmitter from a friend but it does not include a receiver. I will be using it to fly either my Oly II or Aquila requiring 3 channels. Does anyone know what type of receiver would pair with this? Does anyone have a decent reciever they would be willing to part with. My planes afre posted below. Thanks

RE: Micro Servos for my sailplane
Thanks for the advice. The glider is the 2.5 mm version with 100" wing span. I do have some s-148 and s-3003 servos I could use on this.

Older Aquila and Oly II
Just thought I would post pics of a few relics. As you will see the Oly II has seen better days. It was my first in 1980 and the box still has the $42.99 price tag on it. The Aquila stayed in the framework state for 22 years and I just recently skinned it. The fusealage is covered with a light weight glass and painted. I have yet to fly it and am wondering if it would be a good slope soarer. As for the fuselage of the Oly it is in to bad a shape to repair, but the wings are good. Would it be better to buy the wood and rebuild the fuselage and tail section from the plans or buy a new new glider. I would like to have one that is electric assist. Is it better and more cost effective to rebuild and outfit the Oly II with electric or buy a new electric glider. I have heard talk of fitting the Oly with an electric motor but really don't know how to go about it. I am on a bit of a budget so I am looking for any suggestions.

RE: I have an older Futaba

Futaba 8 channel flight pack
I have a friend that wants to sell me a Futaba flight pack with the following items in it. He wants around $40. Is this a good deal and are these items capable of working with a newer Futaba transmitter? There is an 8 channel micro receiver FM #FP-R148DF, dual conversion, and he mentioned something about a 54 and 72.870MHz. The battery charger has model #FBC-8B(4) on it. It has 4 SERVOS #FP-S148, switch harness with charging plug, a flight batter pack (#NR-4J), servo tray and mounting hardware. I have included a picture of what it looks like.

Micro Servos for my sailplane
I am looking to puerchase a Futaba 6EXA Super 6 channel PCM Computer Radio System with R156F 6ch micro Receiver and three S3114 micro size Servos. Will this be suitable for my Aquila glider, it has an 8 ft wing span. I am curious about the torque strength of the servos. In the Futaba section of Tower Hobbies under servos it does not show that the S3114 is suitable for sailplanes. Has anyone used these servos for this application? Capt Phil
