RE: airtronics receiver crystals
Most US distributors have stopped ordering crystals so they are not easy to find. Hobby People does not have your channel in stock. You can ask about them here: http://www.radicalrc.com/rrcxtalexchange.html - They do sell some directly versus requiring a trade

RE: Spinner size ?
With a cowl, the spinner size needs to flow into the lines of the cowl. Without a cowl, use whatever looks good to you. Since a certain size spinner may be used with a little prop or a big prop, they make the slots pretty small and you may need to open them up.

RE: Hello!
Daniel, welcome to the forums. The Clubhouse is a general discussion forum open to all who like RC but I do think more 'plane guys' than 'car guys' hang out here. I am a plane guy but I did have had an electric stadium truck many years ago. The RC Car General Discussions http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/forumid_179/tt.htm may be a good place to start with car specific topics. They have a forum http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/forumid_265/tt.htm for car videos

RE: Different Types of Receivers Questions
Makes sense. Very few manufaturers list any real guidelines for the range of their receivers. For anything that will be more than a few hundred feet away I would look for "full range" in the description. A 40 size plane can easily be 1000 feet away or more when you're flying.

Right now I'm using links to my pictures in facebook (uploaded in the shop, no PC there nor time to do it afterwards). I'm 35 right now, I resisted the ''mobile'' crazyness for a while but it has it good strong points, specially for build logs... I vote for a mobile RCU!!! RE: Horizon and Warranty Policies
If the seller purchases directly from Horizon, whatever warranty Horizon provides should apply. If the seller managed to bypass Horizon, and is getting the products through gray market channels, Horizon should not provide any warranty. Who is the seller? What this Warranty Covers Horizon Hobby, Inc., (Horizon) warrants to the original purchaser that the product purchased (the "Product") will be free from defects in materials and workmanship at the date of purchase. RE: Best Kits
Asking what’s best typically just spars the Chevy vs Ford debate since everyone has preferences that may be based on experience or just on hearsay. A SIG Astro Hog http://www.sigmfg.com/IndexText/SIGRC55.html is an older design that has a lot of parts to sand and carve The GP Super Sportster 60 http://www3.omnimodels.com/cgi-bin/woi0001p?&I=GPMA0210&P=0 will be more challenging than the trainer but still pretty basic construction. Their Corsair 40 http://www3.omnimodels.com/cgi-bin/woi0001p?&I=GPMA0177&P=0 is a non-scale model that has a challenging inverted gull wing Top Flite Elder 40 http://www3.omnimodels.com/cgi-bin/woi0001p?&I=TOPA0215&P=0 has exposed trusswork that shows off the fit of the joints You can see the manuals to all of these online to get an idea of what’s involved in the build. Look at as many online manuals as you can. You may decide that one of the Top Flite scale models is perfect for you. They have good instructions and enough have been built that getting answers to questions should be pretty easy.

RE: Fuel-Proofing Before Locating Engine Mount?
If you use an adjustable mount such as the ones from Great Planes http://www3.omnimodels.com/cgi-bin/WOI0091P?&P=SM&C=GMH&V=GPM one mount should work for any of the engines that is recommended for the plane. Install the blind nuts per the template that comes with the mount. Using heat to thin your epoxy lets it soak into the wood a little and helps get a very light coat. If you do not have a heat gun for covering, a hair dryer will get it warm enough to flow like water. You can wipe out the excess, if there is any, with paper towels.

RE: Four Star 60 Plans
There is a very good article on the Airfield Models site http://www.airfieldmodels.com/information_source/how_to_articles_for_model_builders/tools/magnetic_building_board/index.htm that shows fixtures and techniques for holding things down. The guy who runs the site sells the fixtures if you prefer to buy them instead of building them.

RE: Which is lighter CA or Titebond?
ORIGINAL: BillinIndiana Now after a few others have said to use the Epoxy on the wing spars, I wish I would have went with my 1st instinct and used it there no matter what the plans said...
I think the people telling you to use epoxy on the spars are answering a different question. Or maybe I'm misreading. In the steps where you are gluing the ribs to the bottom spar, and gluing the top spar into the the notch at the top of the ribs, you want to use wood glue or CA. When you get to step 44, gluing the two wing panels together, you need to use epoxy. If you are going in order, that is the first time you need to use epoxy.

RE: What's the proper method of a barrel roll?
With my trainer I get better rolls by nosing up before throwing in the aileron. Sometimes I'm coordinated enough to apply down elevator at the right time and sometimes I'm not.

RE: Which is lighter CA or Titebond?
The second page of the PDF says use CA or wood glue (your choice) unless otherwise noted. A few steps that specifically mention using epoxy: 44, 47, 51, 52, 54, 55 I noticed a step somewhere that specifuically mentioned using CA but do not see it now.

RE: Which is lighter CA or Titebond?
Bill, I don't think I saw this mentioned. Thin CA - put the parts together dry. Clamp or pin so they stay still. Wick glue into the joint. It should cure almost instantly. Medium or thick CA - Apply to parts and put them together. You want decent coverage on the wood surfaces (no glue = no bond).

You do not ‘need’ power tools to cut the sticks in your kit. Any of the razor saw and miter box sets mentioned in this thread will do the job. A company called Fourmost has some really slick miter tools http://www.btemodels.com/fourmost.html Tower and other distributors also sell them
