RE: The Official Losi Desert Truck Thread!
Definetly get the steel idler for the brushless power, i was killing the plastic ones with my mamba 5700 motor on jumps and landings on the throttle.

RE: Pitch on the nitro volcano transmission?
Not sure about that Nick, i have 32 pitch and they don't mesh right with the spur, i heard someone tell me they were mod 1? Pitch on the nitro volcano transmission?
Hey guys i am doing an electric conversion on one of my volcano's, i was hoping to use the stock drivetrain and match it to an electric motor, question is what pitch is the main input gear on the nitro tranny?

Don't get me wrong, i own at least 4 redcats, for the money they are great entry level cars, just pointing out that you would get more feedback on the redcat forum.

RE: The Official Losi Desert Truck Thread!
ORIGINAL: mini 14 My Vortex epx pro 1/10 brushless will arrive day after tomarrow (Thursday) I liked the Losi but it was 2wd and not brushless. I was wondering if anyone had Input on this desert truck. I like Redcat and It comes with dean plugs, so I can use my Dtx 4600 nimh batteries from my SuperVee27 I'm new at this but I have to go electric as where I live thats all thats allowed. any Input would be helpful, Thanks in advance.
I think you would be better off asking that question on the redcat support forum, the vortex looks like a slash copy, imho it should handle great with 4wd.

RE: The Official Losi Desert Truck Thread!
ORIGINAL: SquireSCA THe only downside to the DT that I can see is that it breaks fairly easy. The front bumper is not very sturdy, so a decent hit will not protect the steering arms and stuff from getting bent. But it handles really well, it flies through the air amazingly well, totally balanced, and now that Robinson Racing is putting out a steel idler gear and diff, the DT will finally be able to truly handle brushless power. Many people run brushless, but the plastic idler gear is really easy to strip, so you have to take it easy. Now we will be able to thrash it all we want.
Any updates/news on the Robinson gears? i was at their site and didn't see any mention on them.

RE: The Official Losi Desert Truck Thread!
I only used my truck for bashing once in a while, i have tried to radar it, and i have onlt been able to clock it at 44 mph before it became airborne and backflipped every single time, i guess i will take your advice and gear down so i can drive it more than a couple of times before things start melting in there[:D]

RE: The Official Losi Desert Truck Thread!
ORIGINAL: powerslider Well you know now that your slipper was too loose, replace the slipper rings and the spur gear then adjust it so it only slips for a couple of feet on hard acceleration from a stop. What gearing are you running? Have you stripped the idler gear yet in the trans? 3s is go to be hard on the drivetrain, 2s would be better for bashing....
Thanks for the reply, i was hoping for info on better stuff then stock, i was geared 88t, 84t spur gears respectively on 21t pinion, on the idler question, i have stripped 2 already doing some jumping, but i had some spares for it already, i guess i was looking for metal gears and better slipped pads.

RE: The Official Losi Desert Truck Thread!
Hey guys i need a little help here, i have been running a mamba max /5700kv /3s lipo combo on my Losi DT, i left the slipper a little loose so it doesn't wheely to much on take off, the problem is that i chewed up spur gears and i wasn't sure what was happenning, it turns out the whole slipper assembly was getting real hot, it apparently it started melting the center of the spur were it slides on the spur shaft, and it made the spur gear wobble and then stripped the gear, so my question is, should i just tighten the slipper all the way down or are there any better(read stronger) parts out there, slipper pads, spur, etc.

RE: Volcano EPX brushless battery
ORIGINAL: Redcat_Mike we dont recommend anything higher than 8.4 volts.
This is for the brushless esc and the 3300kv motor? just curious as i have had this setup since you guys first got them, and the only specs i could find were for the motor and they said something about taking up to 18 volts, so a 3s would be to much for the esc? also is there a programming sequence for lipo cutoff on the esc?

also check for the plugs that go into the receiver from the servo and esc, if they were put in backwards buy accident the same thing can happen.

RE: Just installed the Brushless in the Pede and............Need help!
[X(] i can't beleive this is still going on, if the car is faster in reverse than forward and you also have a delay going into forward, i am almost positive that the motor is wired backwards, just swap two wires on the motor and throw the reverse servo switch into normal.

RE: Redcat Brushless system setup help
So i finally decided to test my bl system on my rusty, i strapped to maxamps 7.2v 4.4mah batt packs on the rusty, that's 14.4v[X(], and we clocked it before we ran out of room at 53mph[:D], pretty sure with more room and a 76t spur and 32t pinion i can get to mid 60's, i was running 86t spur and a 23t pinion, i will try to get a video with a good speed pass., so far i love this system[:D]
