ORIGINAL: captainmur Hi Dave ! I find the models of historical WWII subs with their gunnery, wood deck, knights... etc more interesting as modern subs. Anyway thank for the info.
Here's a man who appreciates the finer things in model submarines!

I think you'll find they were cables to stop mines from entangling. SImilar cables went from the edges of dive planes to the hull.

RE: New Sub
ORIGINAL: The Grey Wolf All I know about RC Submarines is that you get two types of RC Submarines: Dynamic Submarines and Static Submarines. Dynamic Submarines use their hydroplanes, rudders and speed to keep them submerge underwater, if the Submarine loses it speed, it will ascend because it does not have a Static (Or Ballast tank) dive system in it to keep it underwater.
And then there's Snort. This system is partially dynamic and static, but uses a low pressure blower to draw in air at periscope depth to bring the submarine to the correct waterline. Simple! Need more info

RE: RPM MODELTECH
So, he shipped it to you then. I take it you haven't received it? You're in Spain too. I wouldn't ship to Spain via the postal service under ANY circumstances. Have you put a claim in? If so, it can take several months for the claim to be settled. I can't see how you can blame the supplier, you've run the parcel through two completely different postal services, just asking for trouble. I guess the cheaper postal system, rather than UPS or Fedex, was a false economy eh! Good luck with the claims!

RE: need trimming material advice ??
ORIGINAL: AQUASUB I use now for years closed cell marine foam its available in body surfing boards and if you go to garage sails you can get them for pennies on the dollar, usually it fairly expensive but its the best stuff you can use, its strong easy to cut and can be glued in place with Goop or silicone adhesive. Comes in blue ,pink and black so far.[:)] Just be sure you use a foam that is closed cell if not it will soak up water and change the buoyancy of the sub not good. The other materials like wood and some spray foams do the same thing soak up water. For your sub you will not need much it takes very little to get a lot of buoyancy, use rubber bands, at least 3, at both ends and the center, and small amounts of foam to find the right placing and amounts. This is the most critical part of the subs build as balancing is very important and can not be more fun  as it is an art to do it right.  Dave
I just love reading your posts. It reminds me of a guy in England who wrote in the old Wiltshire language of Worzel. He had a column in the local paper and was much admired by the old school. It would go something like this. "Ow bist? Thee'ze lookin' awlrite. Ow'z thu missus?. Watz thu little unz doin? Ad any zydur lately?" An I be taykin thu pizz two! People still talk like this in Wiltshire. I think it's wonderful. But, if you edit the post, all the spelling mistakes come up with little red lines under them. All you have you do is click on the underlined word and a list of potentially correct words appears. I just did that (see above) and it took about 30 seconds. Of course, it doesn't correct punctuation, but if you follow the rule of placing the period or comma immediately after the last word, then leave a space before starting the new sentence, you should be fine. Its quite easy really and it would make your posts look much more authoritative.

RE: Underwater Remote?
There are very few camera systems that are wireless and will transmit whilst under water. Most mini systems are 2.4ghz so you need to have the antenna above water to operate it. Our 'Up-periscope' system employs a mini 2.4 ghz camera and we have adapted the antenna so it runs upwards like a periscope. The camera is underwater in its special water tight container, and its antenna must be 1" above the water to transmit. The submarine could be operating at periscope depth and therefore the camera would be submerged. If you use our 'virtual goggles' you'll be operating as if you were looking through the submarines periscope. It's very realistic.

RE: u-47 vs revelll geto
ORIGINAL: scalejet what is the best choice for a newbid to choose between the robbe u-47 or the revell geto static display model convert to r/c using caswell system? Are you comparing price, difficulty of build, ease of operation, or which boat

RE: How to make a BB waterproof?
ORIGINAL: BlueAngels How would you make a bb gun waterproof so when you surface the sub, you will be able to shoot bbs?
You don't need to make the gun itself waterproof. Pose your question [link=http://forum.sub-driver.com/showthread.php?36-Subs-in-Model-Warship-Combat]here[/link], as there are numerous members who are running warships in games where they blast each other's ship (made of balsa and fiberglass) with bb pellets. They will have plans for this. I have a couple of guns here somewhere, if only I could find them. The system is basically a tube filled with bb's, and a small valve actuated from the receiver which allows a short shot of Propel gas to fire the bb out. I doubt you could use this on the smaller models as the loss of weight as the bb's are expelled would upset the trim. I doubt this would be problematic on 1:32 scale boats such as the MBD T Class or S Class, and as they are WWII, they have 3-4" guns which would be realistic. Of course, these would not be to scale in the battleship wars, as they are all usually 1:144. Any model submarine sporting a gun would be out of scale for a 177 bb pellet. -UNLESS you went with the British M1 WWI submarine. You'd have to scratch build that as no-one has a master mold for one that small. I do have the M1 boat in 1:72

RE: Submarine ESC problems!
This problem rings a bell with me. I thought Mtroniks & The Wizard had sorted this out? Wasn't it something to do with the ESC having a BEC with a lower rating than the motors? I thought we had new Mtroniks units in specially made for us with a larger BEC? I'll look into this if you PM me please. Mike Caswell Caswell Inc

RE: Revell 1:72 Type VIIC/41 supplier/carrier
As a distributor of these models, I can assure you they are discontinued and as rare as hen's teeth. Revell will probably not re-run them for at least 5 years. I think I have a couple in stock, but I only sell them with a complete diving system and fittings kit to convert to RC.

RE: Seawolf Build - First Sub (and boat for that matter)
ORIGINAL: papa_whiskey  . 3. I just moved into an apartment, and I'm going to school. Better keep it on a budget (spending less then $150)
Sorry young man, but a $150 budget isn't going to cut it. If that is all you've got, then you need to study more and not involve yourself in this game for a while. Just sit and watch and learn, but this isn't the forum to do it on. As for RCABS and Nuke's suggestions, there are plenty of other options out there. The subcommittee? Hah! Bilgie! What R U doin to this poor young man? And don't get conned into paying $20 to join an apron flapping forum with 'secrets' and 'funny handshakes'.
