RE: CARF Flash, best sports jet ever?
What's up Goose? You will love the Flash. It flies well at any speed. My CG is somewhere in the middle of the range... I think. One of these days I'll check it again when I get it on the bench. The flying days are numbered this time of year so I can take it out of the van where it's always waiting for a good flying day. The full flap slows it down quick and the crow keeps it rock steady. If I come in a little hot or a little high, there's no worry and no float. Just cut the throttle and it drops in and goes to a crawl in the flare.

RE: CARF Flash, best sports jet ever?
I use a ton of flap and about 3/8" of crow. I like it a lot! Here is a short clip of a landing starting at about the 2:00 min. mark. Most of the flight was at little more than half throttle so my main tank was still more than half full after a 5 min. flight. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mh1Jbh6uX6k&feature=related

RE: Eric Clapp & Jet Central Service
ORIGINAL: Gordon Mc Just a thought regarding the seemingly contradictory facts that there certainly does seem to be FOD, and the claim that a FOD screen was used. I see the following possibilities: [ul] [*] The pic of the damage is from a different turbine, not Kat's. [*] No FOD screen was used ; any claim that one WAS used is an attempt to get a warranty repair for something that is user-error. [*] Something got past the FOD screen - the screen is badly fitting, or it has a hole. [*] The FOD screen itself is the source of the FOD. I have seen this happen a few times, where parts of the FOD screen break off and enter the turbine. I've seen this both with 'quality' FOD screens and with home-made ones. Unless the FOD screen is supplied by the turbine manufacturer, that's not an issue that the turbine manufacturer is responsible for IMO. (I haven't read all the history of this issue, so don't know what source of FOD screen was used.) [/ul] Gordon
There is another possibility and that is that a piece of the blade came off and caused the damage. The question is where is the piece that broke off? I had a piece of blade come off and end up laying inside the FOD screen and never did go back through the engine (probably because it was at idle).

RE: Ride for my Rabbit (Flash It is!) the rebuild is on
Way to go Rich. I wish I could have seen the maiden. The pitch up may have been caused by the crow but most of mine gets canceled out by the flap and gear. Is your full flap still half of my full flap?[;)]

RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread
ORIGINAL: fw190pilot Xairflyer It appears from the photo that your NGV is cracked on the chamber side at the 10 o'clock position. Judging from the heat bluing on the outer rim of the NGV the chamber wasn't sealing well to the NGV.
The blueing is probably from the hot spot caused by the bad needles... Can't tell if that's a crack or not though.

Of course if you have some experience in jets then there is no problem. But its not a begginer's jet. It's a jet for advanced pilots Other than that its a great jet Tassos
Most beginner jet pilots ARE experienced pilots. If you are a rank beginner in RC then of course the Flash is not a good first jet.

RE: OK JETJOE AGAIN BUT A GREAT THING
ORIGINAL: dw_crash Curtis, I hate to say it......But this is the first time you have presented a logical well thought out agruement. It wasn't just a rant. Well done. And, from some of the people I have talked to....your right.....Wren and others all started as part of the GTBA, then went their own ways. And, I am told, WREN and others, were not 'perfect' at the beginning. Users, distributors, and others provided feedback to improve the product. So, is it truly theirs alone? I really can't say. I am an engineer not a lawyer. But, in my field, it is call normal practice of the art. Using the learning and advise of others to make things better and cheaper. That 'Art' knowledge is normally considered 'public domain'. Again, my understanding is that you have to file patents and commercial design registrations to calim ownership. THEN, DEFEND THEM IN COURT. A tough and long task. Dave
And that quote is about 3 1/2 years old [;)]

RE: Should I use ailerons on SM F-16?
ORIGINAL: SinCityJets Craig, Washout would need to bring the ailerons UP during landing (like crow). Moving them down has the opposite effect of washout. Chad
On the F-16 the ailerons/flaps are more inboard than normal ailerons so you get the washout effect with down ailerons, just like flaps.

RE: Wren or Jet Cat? Cant decide..
For the difference in price (weak British pound right now) I would go with the Wren. You get the same, if not better, quality at a lower price. The ECU doesn't have all the bells and whistles like the JetCat, but it does what it's supposed to do and Wrens just run... and run... I have a JetCat and a Wren so I'm a fan of both but right now the bang for the buck in this size seems to be with Wren.
