RE: Kingtech K-140 F ARRIVES AND IS AIR BORN VIDEO ADDED
Start any turbine up without a operable fire extinguisher by your side, and fully expect an uncontrolled fire, even more so if it is an untried set up. As for doing the above, and then rubbishing the product because you have made a mistake-not cool. As soon as you pressure fill a fuel cell connected to a turbine, that has a fuel valve that is not stopping the passage of fuel, you a liable to push unwanted fuel into the turbine, resulting in the next start being wet. It is an simple fault, very easily corrected by A FIRE EXTINGUISHER !

RE: Need advice!
DONT DO IT !!!! I have a Dynatron on 24 volts, its a pain in butt because it turns too fast, its too heavy and 24 volt has also burnt out the switch contacts once, leading to the necessary fitment of a car type solonoid. A by far better option, would be a geared starter, if I had my time again, I would buy the Align starter.

RE: Boomerang Nano!!!
ORIGINAL: Veritech Ok guys, I decided on getting the Rabbit KS for my Nano, picked it up today from Andy Low at Electrodynamics. I have it all fitted without too much fuss but now I am wondering how far back to mount the motor. I know I should mount it as far forward as possible for CG but if I do that the tail pipe does not stick out the back end and I am a little worried about heat back there being this is all balsa on the back end. So should I slide it back so the tail pipe sticks out a little bit or should I slide it in as far forward as I can for CG and not worry about the radiant heat?
ORIGINAL: Veritech Thanks Guys. I am going to decide on either the Rabbit or the Bee II in a week or so. I downloaded a full size Dimensional Drawing of the Rabbit and it cut it out and placed it in the fuze. It looks like it would take just a little grinding on the mounts and former at the front to get it to fit. Now I wonder about fuel, I was planing on fitting a 64 Oz juice bottle plus a UAT. I am hoping to get 8 minutes if I detune it to 12-14#'s.

I have a wren 70 mounted as far forward as possible(the starter nearly touches the dubro tank) my uat(made from a small glow tank) is about 250 ml, this is towards the front of the component board, this set up requires no ballast to ballance the plane perfectly.

RE: Regulator Switch - Beat this
ORIGINAL: AmishWarlord No way I'd use cheap anything for a jet with a $3,000 engine in it. I am however going to try out these 15A UBEC's for the giant sweet'n low stick. Going to use them with twin receivers and 2S 2000mah lipos. If they do good in the prop job then they will get to ride in the Panther. Really though I don't know why jet guys don't test out thier gear in ugly sticks before putting them into a jet. I quess it's ''I'm a jet pilot now! No more prop planes for me!''
I purchased 2 of these, and could not believe how small the wires were ! also realized that after turning the switch to the off position, that the lipo is still draining , so threw them in a draw, probably be great for a forty sized trainer. why bother with a reg , hobbyking now sell 3700mah a123 2 cell packs for twenty bucks

EXPERT HELP REGARDING WHICH JR RX SET UP TO CHOOSE PLEASE
Hi I am just about to purchase a suitable 9 channel rx set up for A DER JET cougar. I am hopping to set it up in the following manner aileron=2 channels 2 x15 kg servos elevator 2 channels 2x5 kg servos (they sound small but are the correct size) rudder/nose gear 1 channel 2x 15 kg servo flaps 2 channels 4x 15 kg servos brakes 1 channel 1 kg mini servo gear and doors 1 channel 1xmini servo 1 kg Ultra Precision UP2 Valve Ultra Precision UP4 Secondary Valve The 15 and 5 kg servos will be programable digitals I intend using 4 2300mh life packs direct. I am torn between a AR9200 DSM2 9Ch PowerSafe Evolution Rx and using 2 parallel life packs to each output OR using 2 x Spektrum AR9100 DSM2 9-Channel PowerSafe Receivers and splitting the aileron , elevator, flap servos between the two rx's and puting one of each of the four life packs to the 4 individual battery inputs giving true rx redundancy and battery redundancy ( assuming that the plane will fly with one aileron and one elevator half operating ????? ) OR using 2 x Spektrum AR9100 DSM2 9-Channel PowerSafe Receivers and A POWERBOX RRS ??? putting the essentials through the RRS and splitting the 4 servos used on the flaps between the 2 rx's .The thing that concerns me regarding this option is that I get the impression from the online instructions that I need a vacant channel on my tx in order to give the failsafe signal to the RRS, needing all of the channels, I do not have a vacant one ! can someone please also explain this ????? The reason I am going for the above options is that I feel that I am trying to run too many servos from 1x ar9100 rx and also like the idea of having a redundant RX. some expert help would be greatly appreciated regarding which setup to choose ?????????????????????????????

RE: DerJet Cougar in the UK
Thanks for your reply Dave assuming that the elevators use 2 servos, that adds up to 14 servos ? I would like to fly the plane with my nine channel JR, assuming that I drop the fuse flaps and use programable digitals, is this possible ? please help me understand why 4 servos are used for the air valves and what the 4 functions are ? is it possible that the aircontrol system would use less channels with an electronic multi function valve ? thanks for your patience !

RE: Boomerang XL II
Re the nose wheel protruding out a little. This has been an advantage for me, once when landing on a concrete runway, my nose wheel got tangled in the steering wires and failed to come down, that little bit 'sticking out' saved the underside of the plane from any road rash. You will not see it sticking out in the air, I would not change mine. I landed my nano onto rough ashphalt with the nose wheel stuck up, and it made a real mess of the bottom of the nose area.

RE: Where to buy 6mm steering pin?
I had the same problem. You do not need a lathe to make a perfect job of manufacturing this pin. purchase a cap headed (allen key) bolt with a 6mm shank that has an un threaded length (shank) at least as long as the pin you require, a cap head is by far the best choice for this job, as being high tensile steel they are made of the correct material and tensile strength for this job, in many cases your new pin will far exceed the durability of the original !! Now cut the bolt down to the correct lengh, very hard going with a hack saw, but a breeze with the Dremel and carbon wheel. Put your shank into a drill chuck, with the cap at the opposing end to the chuck (much easier if you have a drill stand) now turn at high speed , using a power file or suitable dremel bit cut the 'cap' down until you are left with a suitable top 'lip', you can speed this process up by cutting the cap down first with the Dremel cutting wheel. If you are wondering what a power file is http://www.mitre10mega.co.nz/shop/powertools/sanders/black_and_decker_power_file_350w_267129/ its a 'finger' about 7 inches long with a 1/2 inch wide sanding belt that turns around it, if you do not have one, go straight down to the hardware store and get one, you will never look back, the uses are endless, I would almost have one over a Dremel.

you won't be able to prop hang, because you will not get anything bigger than 11 inch on there (with a bit chopped out of the wing for clearance)

if you mount your UAT (50 oz dubro) towards the front of the board, this plane does not require any ballast (with wren 70 and x2 5 cell in front of main tank, standard servos for rudders and elevator ecu lipo on top of the main kero tank)

RE: Boomerang XL II
ORIGINAL: trioval00
ORIGINAL: geh3 The 160 is perfect for the XLII... you can take off in 40-50' and go straight up!!!!!
Not to long ago there was an issue with the wings blowing apart with the Boomer XL. Later found the ones that had the wings coming apart in air, were the Boomer XL's that had 160's and bigger turbines mounted on them.....
So is there no longer "an issue" ? This is B#llsh#t, this is a very popular aircraft, with 2 reports on here of supposed wing failure, its sad that so many self appointed experts are keen to slam an excellent product at any given oppurtunity. Any plane will fail if you do not treat it in the correct manner. The XL is fine with a 160, as with most birds ,You just need to consider airframe stress during high G flying, You also need to maintain the covering material. re Ballast I have a wren 160, x8 1100mah 123s in the nose, my ecu lipo sits on the tank, this set up balances perfectly with no ballast

RE: Hangar 9 Sundowner Formula 1 Problem
ORIGINAL: Lifer All of those ideas will work, but when you shim the gear, it does add drag bye way of more frontal area. It will help, though.
I shimmed my gear with vee shaped block, you do not need to lift the back up very far to get the wheels forward 3/4 inch. As for increasing drag, ARE YOU SERIOUS ! I would not recommend a wooden prop with this plane, go for smaller diameter and more pitch, the APC props will take light ground strikes without very little damage, I had a piped BGX and found a 16x15 APC to be the best. you will get used to the ground handling, stick with this bird, it is a lot of fun, just be aware of you stall speed in slow turns !

A very nice collection of pics, and a top video. Great piece of action Jarrod, you were described as "the most dangerous pilot here" a rather pompous remark in many peoples opinion, I m glad that you shrugged it off, and continued to provide such a great show for everyone. The mig shown in the pics, whilst not being a 100% scale, really displayed a great achievement by it,s builders and pilot. Thank you to all those who worked so hard to provide a great weekend.
