RE: Are the new Thunder Tiger 40s actually 46s?
Here in Connecticut we had a NEPRO member this spring who purchased one of these .46 motors in a .40 case new from Omni Models. We were hoping it was an isolated event so decided to let it slide. Looks like it may be more of a widespread problem. As already mentioned, it should be relatively easy to police even if a bit of a nuisance. The major downside as I see it is that it allows an excuse for the guy that may decide to cheat by changing out the piston, sleeve, rod. In the end, it should be pretty easy to tell by speed and sound if someone has one of these motors

RE: CLUB 40 IN NEW ENGLAND?
ORIGINAL: airwebb I raced with you guys last year in Salem. I flew my white Raider in the sportsman class. I flew out and now I have to race Q-500. There are a few other guys (john, eric, jeff, jeffrey)  that have been making regular trips down to your races from our club. I havent been able to get a Q500 plane together yet for this season plus we just had our first baby. So im sure you understand when I say most of my time has been taken up. Thank you for the response though.
Justin, I thought I recognized your name. Congratulations on the baby!! Mine are now 12 and 14......they grow up fast, spend as much time with them as you can. The hobby will be here long after your baby grows up. We have been real happy to have the other Maine guys join us, they are a great addition to our group. Hopefully when things settle down you can come back and join us too Take care, Craig

RE: CLUB 40 IN NEW ENGLAND?
Justin, Check out www.nepro.org We race in Connecticut and Massacusetts. While we are primarily Q-500 (AMA 424 and 426) we also offer a sportsman class at all of our races which allows you to fly anything you have. A few guys from Maine joined us last year in sportsman and moved up to 424 this year. We have a great group of guys that are willing to help out all that we can. Our next race is this Sunday (5/20) in Hadley Mass. If you are free, come down and join us!!

RE: Havok and Rattler....New Q500 Kits
Got some clear on it. Just have to cover the wing and will get some flights on it. I have built Seekers, Hurrikanes, Vortex's, Intimidators, etc. Like Dan said, the differences are subtle but really do make the build foolproof. The fuse sides are only 1/8" thick, but with all of the interlocking parts and 1/8" doublers it feels extremely rigid. With the quality of todays laser cutting, these things just keep getting easier to build. I am still waiting to find one that is mid-air proof!!

Havok and Rattler....New Q500 Kits
I am just finishing up a new Havok......ready for clear. This plane was drawn by Dan Kane and will be available from Joe Tropea very soon. This kit has a slightly different construction making it almost impossible not to build dead straight. The quality and design of the kit are phenomenal......parts fit is spot on. The Havok has a 66-012 airfoil and will be available with a sheeted wing with skinned hinges, horns installed and CF reinforced trailing edge (I believe). The Rattler is the same fuse designed with a wing saddle that accepts a Viper wing. Hope to get this one in the air within the next couple of weeks and will post a flight report. RE: Intimidator II Construction Thread
Scott, I believe this mount has the same mounting pattern as the popular quickee mounts and may fit your .25. Hole pattern dimensions are in the link. If it fits, you could switch back and forth easily http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXEVS5&P=7

RE: Intimidator II Construction Thread
ScottFL78, Pay close attention to how you glue up the fuse doublers. On the ones I have built, the writing is on the outside of the balsa. Just make sure you glue the doubler on the correct side of the fuse side. The right fuse side is shorter than the left in front of the wing saddle to give the plane right thrust so they are not symmetrical. A couple of my buddies have glued the doubles on the wrong side. The plane is also designed with 1 degree (I believe) of down thrust

Here is a Intimidator wing thread. We use CF and glass to stiffen the trailing edge, but the ply will work fine too http://forum.nepro.org/index.php?topic=156.0

RE: Pylon 424 $$$$$ REDICULOUS!
There are several other options. The Intimidator II from National balsa is a fantastic kit for $100.......easy to build once you learn how to sheet wings and extremely competitive. Also, the Snaker is a great fuse kit designed around the Viper wing or the Seeker which comes with a sheeted wing. The Hurrikane is another that comes with a sheeted wing. I have built/flown all of these and assure you they are 100% competitive in 424 and all can be built for under $200 with minimal skills. All are laser cut kits and require no special skills to build if you have any prior experience. Part of the fun in racing for me is the building, always trying to improve with every plane I build http://www.nationalbalsa.com/Kits_s/238.htm http://q500racing.com/seeker/ http://q500racing.com/snaker/ http://www.supertrc.com/details.asp?ProdID=54&category=10.

RE: Jett SS .40 426 motor
The fuel actually comes in under the carb. The carb is really just an air valve allowing the engine to be choked off to kill. Don't think that no air seal around the carb or venturi is an issue at all
