RE: WACO YMF
I have a 1/5 WACO and I had to refurbish the cowl. Now I have to finish painting it and I am wondering if there is an easy way to put the darts on the cowl blisters. I don't have the decals and I really don't want to paint each one by hand if I don't have to. I would appreciate any suggestions. seedy barker

RE: WACO YMF
AnyoneI would like to cover the front and port side of the 1/6 Dave Platt YMF-3 that I am finishing with very light aluminum. Can anyone tell me how to make simulated rivets? Or is this not a good idea?

Thanks for steering me to Kirby's. I am sending him the old decal sheet and he said he would be able to help me out. Thanks again.

I have 2 1/6 WACO's, One is in flying shape and the other is still being built. I have the decals for both planes but they are curled and dried out and cracking with some parts flaked off and missing. They are unusable. Does anyone know where I can get a set of decals? The kit I am building is a Dave Platt 1/6 kit.

Absolutely beautiful. What a great looking plane. Good luck with the pre-flights and the maiden. Carl

If Mitch gathers enough orders, I will take 2 large shirts.

RE: WACO YMF
I have a Magnum 91 in my 1/6 Waco and it flies just fine. It may be a little over powered but I have used the extra power of the 91 to get myself out of some jams. I didn't have to add any weight to the nose to balance it because of the size of the engine. The only disadvantage is the cylinder head sticks through the cowl so if you want a perfect scale look, you'll have to use another engine.

The shirts are super looking. Put me in for 2 if there is a new order. I take a large in case someone has extras.

Thanks, I thought that would probably be the case but I had to ask. There's a lot about scale that I don't know and that's why I read all the posts here. So far, I've picked up some really clever ideas.

I am building a 1/6 scale Dave Platt YMF-3. Does any one sell pinked tape for that size plane?

RE: WACO YMF
Hi Dan, Thanks for the welcome. I'm sorry I didn't get back to your post, I missed it. George asked me today if I had read it. As for the pounding out ailerons, we tried and the results were less than perfect. We don't have the right tool to make the creases. But we did get one piece done that didn't look too bad. My 1/6 Waco is too small for that scale so I am using polystyrene half round .080 strips, 34 on each. Kind of tedious but the results are pretty good. I finished one aileron and it looks really nice. The 1/6 scale is a little too small to replicate the rivets though, at least for me. I don't have the skill or the patience to really scale it out buy I want it to look like it.

Hi all, After following the WACO thread for quite some time now and being on my second WACO and at the urging of my good friend George (ctflyboy) Hovey, I am requesting membership in the esteemed WACO brotherhood. Carl Barker
