RE: WALKERA DRAGONFLY 22D FLYS GREAT!!!
I have a dragonfly 22d myself, although at the moment I'm having some minor issues. I like the heli though, it's a lot of fun. It amazes me how expensive parts are to upgrade! After deciding I could'nt justify 100$ on this budget heli for a CNC tail setup, I ordered up a tail gear box and bell crank from the hornet II for my dragonfly(20$ worth of parts). My first tail gear box broke, then I replaced it with a dragonfly one, but the bell crank wouldn't fit on it, the diameter was to small. So after shaving the gear box down a bit I got it to work- but not too good. I suspect there is some friction on the bell crank because the rear rotor won't always return to a vertical neutral position. Because of this I can't get the damn thing to stop rotating! If I move the trim one to the left it rotates one way, trim one to the right it rotates the other way... So hopefully the hornet gear box/bell crank works better and solves my problem... I also ordered some aluminum tail and horizontal fins to replace the flimsy plastic ones. I'll let you guys know how it goes and if the hornet II tail works well on the dragonfly...

RE: Little plastic retainers
check out birddogdistributing.com. Go to Toys, rc products, dragonfly 22d. I assume you have the Walkera style dragonfly? Anyway this site has all of the parts for the dragonfly and you can order them individually( without waiting for them to ship from china)...located in montana.

Dragonfly22D to Hornet II upgrades?
Who has put Hornet II parts on the DRagonfly22d, I want to know if people know what fits from firsthand experience. I'm thinking of doing the tail rack(mine broke), main gear(mines wearing fast), and a set of carbon fiber blades off the hornet for front and rear. I think just as little pieces on mine break I want to replace them with the more high quality Hornet II equivalents. Also, anyone replaced the 370 motor with a better 370? If you have done any upgrades, could you tell us what parts fit or didn't fit. thanks.

RE: My Dragonfly 22D
I have the same helicopter as you(22d). I notice that it needs to get throttle quickly to get enough lift to get off the ground. If I speed up slowly it will veer off to the left, but if you boost the rpm's faster it will lift straight up. Also it needs to be in the air to tell if its trimmed good,if it's not at least 2-3 feet off the ground you can't tell if it's adjusted right. Try this: idle up a few clicks on your throttle to where the birds' blades are spinning but it's still stable and still on the ground, THen to lift up idle up like 4-5 more clicks of the throttle quickly and smoothly and it should lift almost straight up. Make sure you have a big open non-windy space too. CGC.

RE: Dragonfly 22D i Need Help
Does anyone know what size/how many teeth the stock main gear has? I wonder because mine is getting worn quick too and I might try one off the hornet 2 and see if it lasts longer. I believe it said the hornet 2 main gear was 180teeth/30teeth.

Charging Battery (650mah) Question
Could someone tell me what rate to charge my battery at . It's a 9.6v 650mah nimh battery. I have an adjustable charger for .1 to 5 amps, but don't know what rate to charge it at. Tried posting in Electric Heli forum, but got no answer, maybe better luck here? Or if you have an 8.4v nimh what rate do you use-that would get me close...

RE: Dragonfly 22D i Need Help
As a beginner with helis myself thought I'll post my experiences with the 22d. I bought mine off EBAY from BIRDDOG DISTRIBUTING in Montana(135$ shipped in 3 days). I am no pro with these toys at all and wanted something cheap and decent to learn on. This fellow Josh must do a good job setting up as I have not had to do any adjusting to the servos/receiver board, only fine tuning on the Transmitter. The only problem mine had setup wise was the main drive gear was not aligned to the driveshaft to the tail rotor, this caused the heli to spin(seems common problem) as the main gear would spin without contacting and sending power thru driveshaft to the rear rotor. I aligned the main gear and instantly the spinning stopped requiring only fine tuning of the emperrage on the transmitter. If when you first receive it you can spin you main rotor by hand and the tail rotor doesn't move, I would check this. All in all I am rather happy with this heli as I was able to get it to hover( albeit for less than 30 seconds) on my first night ever flying. My friend purchase a Venom heli Nightraider that is more poorly made( 2 motors, rear motor already burnt, skids broke, etc) and he paid over $190 for it. This dragonfly 22d is about the best buy you can get for a beginner helicopter, I would recommend it to anyone who is new to the sport and doesn't want to spend arm/leg for a great heli. My 2 cents. P.S.- the charger that comes with it is crap, burnt out after one charge and is dead as cofirmed with D-mulitimeter, be prepared to purchase a better charger.
