RE: Show'n off my racers
oh yeah...forgot. i had to replace the chassis on my ten after a nasty incident so i added some eye candy upon reassembly. plus the stock towers are junk. please ignore the wire situation. i am scared to cut and shorten them for warranty reasons.

RE: Where do you order your RC parts?
i try to buy my cars from my hobby shop as they will usually match prices on larger items and it supports the shop/track but i get alot of my parts from ebay stores. lots of good deals there and have not had any issues with any of the ebay rc stores in years. i try not to order from any store with less than 97 to 98% positive feedback. i get most of my batteries from hobbypartz, cheap cheap

check the condition of the lube or lack there of, check all the gears closely for wear, check all the bearings and pins, replace anything that looks questionable. you dont want to do it a second time just for fun.

RE: 4wd traxxas slash Help
that was the simple check now it is time to follow FahrtAutoRC's advice and dig into the diffs. start by checking the center diff for proper operation and then move on to the rear diff gears. here are a couple of breakdowns in case you dont have a manual. good luck

RE: 4wd traxxas slash Help
how old is the truck? it very well could still be a diff issue if the truck has a decent amount of time on it but checking the wheel hubs is just a matter of pulling each wheel off and checking the hex and the inside of the rim to see if it is stripped out. if so you will have to replace the bad hex adapter and the rim.

if one rim/hub in the rear were stripped then neither rear wheel would spin right?? he does not say if the shafts are turning or not or if the wheel/wheels seem loose.

if you are just starting out the slashes are easy to work on, very fun, durable, and parts are every where. not saying that there are not "better" trucks out there but...........

RE: slash 4x4 help
i started running the outerwears tray cover and it helped some but it just seemed like the area where the diff sits acts like a sand/dust catcher. my practice track in my yard has thick powdery sand/dust, much more than an average track. i have actually quit using it due to the extreme wear on components like gears, fans, bearings, and so on but it seemed to affect my slash 4x4 way more than my other cars in the spur/pinion dept.

RE: 4wd traxxas slash Help
also this sentence is a little confusing?? "it seemslike only one wheel in the fron is spinning and all the rest are just spinning but with the weight of the car its not." to me it sounds like only one front wheel is turning under load right? if it were the center diff wouldnt both fronts still spin?

RE: Tire setup For track on a Rustler VXL
im sorry guy, i just realized that i put calibers as my choice tire for the rear on the rustler and that was incorrect. i was running bowties on mine. i ran calibers on my slash 4x4. the fronts were still edge or stock i think. it been a while. sorry for any confusion.

RE: slash 4x4 help
i can make 4 all day trips to the track and not have a pinion wear out but 4 battery packs of driving in the sand in my yard and they are done. just depends on the amount of dust and dirt running through the gears. if you run mostly on a packed track you may not see the issue as often i geuss

RE: 4wd traxxas slash Help
i took from the battery size that he was just bashing around and not racing while having the problem. yes he could change the fluid in his center diff but i thought it would be easier to just swap in the slipper unit and see if that solved his issue. (assuming he already has one). if he is running at a track or does not have the slipper unit then he can try tuning the center diff. i did try changing the fluid in mine though and it still had almost the same effect on 3s. the diff is better for the track for sure but the slipper unit is more fun around the house anyway...wheeeelieeeees!!! lol

RE: slash 4x4 help
if he is using the traxxas pinions trust me they will wear, i have change many of them. the aftermarket steel ones will take a bit longer to wear out, but if you run in alot of sand, they will go to. just because they still have teeth does not mean they are good.

RE: 4wd traxxas slash Help
the center diff is designed to redirect power from the rear wheels and send it to the front if there is a loss of traction. on 3s the truck is trying to wheelie and sending power to the front wheels when they leave the ground to try and keep the front of the truck planted. try installing the slipper assy. and see if that will get the desired effect.

RE: Tire setup For track on a Rustler VXL
the heavier tires would probably help off throttle in the turns and help keep the front end down but since the front wheels are being pushed by the rear, the less weight and resistance from the front ribbed tires would be the way to go in my opinion.

RE: 4wd traxxas slash Help
the diffs on a slash 4x as with most trucks are not locked. if you have only one front wheel spinning on the ground you may have a rear drive shaft or diff issue. lift the truck up by the front wheels and rotate them in the same direction. the truck should move one way or the other. the wheels will all still spin off the gound sometimes because they are not under load.

RE: slash 4x4 help
it could be to tight but i replace both spur and pinion as a set. the gears will wear in together and when you put a new spur on an old pinion you will have gear noise. since you have already been running it im guessing, just let the gears wear in a bit and adjust the mesh. you will just have to deal with the noise until you replaced both next time.youtu.be/Dmm5hQBfAyQ

RE: Tire setup For track on a Rustler VXL
blacktop your track lol. vxl rustlers are almost impossible to keep stuck to the ground without a ton of throttle control. i ran the soft proline calibers in back and proline edge soft up front and it made a big diff.

RE: Traxxas Slash 4x4 or Rustler VXL?
of the two, slash 4x4. its very fast and tough and with 4wd it will handle terrain very well. the vxl rustler is a bit over powered for the chassis and handling suffers for it in the dirt. very fun on blacktop with a wheelie bar though.

RE: MIP THREAD!!!!!
as a long time mx rider i have thought alot about the valved shocks but my design had equal number of holes in the piston and a flapper valve on the top and bottom of the piston with various hole numbers to control both rebound and compression. the valve would have to stay fixed to the piston and not rotate to maintain the hole alignment. damn, there goes my millions!!
