RE: Fuel proof spray paint a thing of the past?
The Paint I use for fuel proofing is simple airplane dope. I order it from Sig. Poly is not fuel proof at all, neither is any kind of water base that I know of with the exception of the stuff that nelson hobbies sells, its the same as warbird colors products. It is a waterbase boat paint, works ok but does not stick well at all, but is fuel proof to at least 15% nitro. Dope is the easy thing IMO.. plus it lasts for years.

RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***
Hey Guys, I built an ultra sport myself but it was as a construction artical in RCM when I took notice of it.. It ia a very smooth flying ship, I'll say I love to fly it. The slow flight is very stable, rock solid .. Mine stated with an old enya .60 , then I put an mds .60, and now it has an OS .60 in it.. I was thinging of cutting a new kit and build another, but I am working on two other ships so probably won't have "take" time to do another for a while, but I still have the original artical plans canopy mold etc so how knows.. Happy Lands to ya'll from Texas,

RE: Fuel Proof Spray?
Firepower, No Latex paints are not fuel proof, but nelsons water based poly with the crosslinker additive is fuel proof to 20% nitro. I have used the above combo on several glow powered airplanes with good results. Chip

RE: need cowl repair help!!!
It depends on what its made from.. If its fiberglass its easy to repair just epxoy resin and cloth..and a lot of sandpaper.. ABS plastic, not so easy to repair.. Why not just made another from scratch as ya got the old one to go by right??? Oh well,, Thats what my options would be anyhow. Chip, Happy landings to ya

RE: My One off Cowl build
Yes, You can use an exiting cowl as a mold. I have done that from kits when there where kits to build that is , only a few left.. There is not much varity anymore for kits so I like building from plans. Its slower of course but I love to build stuff.. Most of the kits used to have abs plastic cowls, they'er not too tuff so one noseover on the pavment and a cracked cowl you'd have. Fiberglass ones can be alot stonger..

RE: Sig 1/5 Cub, she's lookin' good :)
Cool, Very Nice plane you've made there. I have also used the Nelson paint.. If ya Spray it , ya gotta use very thin coats, and a lot of them too, like 10 or so. It looks best and even out pretty well after alot of coat build up. I do like the no smell part of the system.. Happy Landings Ya'll Chip

RE: OS 75 AX On Going Issue
OK then, Alot of the guys who post on here ,(RCU), are not skilled at the glow engine thing.. I guess, I'd look for something in the carb, or a bad gasket on the backplate, maybe loose screw on the backplate. Bar non of that works, I guess send it back to O.S. Good luck too ya, Chip

Ya know, I can't stand all of you safety Nannys that respond to a post such as this. If you affraid of everything that might pose a risk then go back and ask ur mommy if its ok to play with the real Men, cause your not one of them. Also, this is a hobby. I hate it when guys try to make excusses for being a lazy no skill tard.. I bulid most of my airplanes from scratch because I like having somthing I made. Not some China built sweatshop thing.

RE: Hoarding !!
It's by no means hording to buy all the kits a plans you can get if one intends to stay in the hobby.. I build mostly from plans but do have a few kits.. Balsa wood itself is getting more and more expensive and less supply as well. I can remember paying $15 for a BUSA stick 40, and $23 for their smoothie back in the mid 80's. And as most of us know kit manufactures have all but disappeared.. due to the ARF craze. Kits may come back if their is a market for them, will see in time.. As for now, their is much more profit to have the china boys make an arfs for $1.5 in labor and sell them for 1000% - 3000% markup..
