Custom Created Realflight schemes & AV's
Hey Gang, I have been creating AV's of existing planes on the sim for years and have found that most people really like what i do. I have recently also started getting pretty good with doing color schemes for the planes. I have started to think about maybe starting to take requests for colorschemes and/ or AV's and charging a small amount for doing these... just a small side business to make all the hours I spend messing with this stuff a little more easy to explain to my wife! My questions are these: How many of you all would be willing to pay a few bucks to have a plane on the sim that looks and flies like your real one? Does anybody see any potential problems with doing this? I don't think there would be any legal issues or whatever but since I've never done this before I want to thoroughly check it out. Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

RE: DA 150 / 170... same size?
Hey Bill! Good to know! Thanks for the quick reply ... Can you tell I am at work and working hard? LOL How ya been? Sounds like we have both come a long way in our taste for planes since I sold ya that Goldberg Ultimate a few years back! Ha Ha I can't wait to get my hands on this thing... it will be BY FAR the biggest, nicest plane I have flown. What do you have the 170 in? Talk to ya soon! Thanks again, Scott

DA 150 / 170... same size?
Hi guys... I just have a quick question... mostly out of curiosity at this point. I am buying a nice used Trueworthy Pitts 12 that has a DA 150 in the nose currently. What i am wondering is if I ever decided to "upgrade" would a DA 170 bolt right on in place of the 150 or is the length, mount pattern etc different? That's it for now! Thanks in advance for any help! Scott

24 lb plane and 3w75?
Hey guys and girls, I'm wondering what you all think or if anybody has first hand experience. I have a highly modified 33% Lanier Extra that I am working on setting up. Unfortunately right now funds are very tight so I am looking to do things as cheaply as possible. It looks like if I use the 3w75IUS that I have the plane will come in at almost exactly 24 pounds. Has anybody flown a plane around this weight with this engine? I'm not looking for a 3D monster but I want plenty of power for good IMAC type flying and maybe a hover if possible. I was originally looking at buying a friends 3w80xi which would probably have been perfect but who knows when I will have the money to do that. I don't want to wait forever but I don't want to finish the plane with the 75 and it be a dog either. I have read several different posts on here about this and a few guys have said yay and a few ney... For what it's worth I am pretty much at sea level. Let me know what you think!!! Thanks in advance!!! Scott

RE: G4 why is my exhaust Green
Maybe some Pepto Bismol? Just kidding... Sounds like you must have accidentally changed your exhaust color in the plane editor. I don't have my sim in front of me buit I will try and remember the steps to fix it... click on aircraft at the top click on edit click on fuselage click the plus sign next to motor click on exhaust hit the arrow next to exhaust color and select the color you want save and go back to flying. Hope this helps!

RE: When to "Draw a Line"?
Thanks for the reply, I certainly understand between the maneuvers drawing a line... I guess what I am asking about is like in a half reversed cuban 8 or a reversed sharks tooth on the 45 uplines ... I assume its draw a 45, half roll, and draw the 45 again before pulling.... but I THOUGHT I had been told of an example where it would be draw a line, roll and then go right into a pull without drawing a line again. Thanks again! Scott

When to "Draw a Line"?
Allright Guys, After several years of SAYING I am going to get back into flying more and doing my first IMAC contest I AM going to actually do it this year. I have a highly modified 33% Lanier Extra and a 33% H9 Cap almost ready to fly. I have been practicing the basic sequence on G4 etc and am starting to come up with questions. Here's the first of many I am sure: When do you "draw a line" and when do you immediately go into a roll etc? I seem to remember being told you always draw a line except when you are doing a ... but i can't remember the specifics. I hope my question maes sense. Thanks in advance!!!! Scott

RE: IMAC -3D
I haven't heard anything about this yet but in my opinion they shouldn't. I love seeing 3D and am learning to fly it, but IMAC is SCALE aerobatics, so to me the sequences should show SCALE maneuvers that a real aircraft can do. To me 3D should be left for the freestyle competitions and left seperate from the sequences. Just my two cents worth! I'll be curious to see if anybody else has heard of this. Scott

RE: Hangar 9 33% Cap with a 3W 75???
Well... I started the REAL work on her today and did pretty much what I wanted to... Got the new firewall glued in and the engine mounted. This is my first attempt at mounting an engine like this so if you see any "issues" PLEASE let me know! Next step is the wings... I'm pretty sure I am going with just one 8611 per wing but not 100% sure on that yet. The "easy way" would probably be just to use 2 per wing since I have enough servos and its already set up that way... but from what I am hearing one 8611 per wing is more than enough and I figure when its all said and done I'd probably save a good 8 ounces by only using one per wing... decisions decisions lol . Anyway .. dinner just arrived so im gonna go eat ... but let me know what ya think of the engine install so far!!! Scott

RE: Hangar 9 33% Cap with a 3W 75???
Here's one as she is right now. I will take some shots as I mount the 3w and stuff later today and through the weekend... and then some as I redo the aileron servos to a single in each wing later. It was fun getting it into my Honda Fit for the ride home from PA last night lol .

RE: Hangar 9 33% Cap with a 3W 75???
Well, Finally got my hands on the Cap today and started work reconfiguring it from the setup the previous owner had used. He had a DA100 and 2 aileron servos per wing. I will be using a 3W75 and 1 8611 per wing. So far I have ripped the old firewall out as it has been pretty much drilled to death. I will be replacing that tomorrow and placing/ mounting the 3W. Tell ya more as I go! Scott

RE: Hangar 9 33% Cap with a 3W 75???
Thanks for all the time you have put into responding to me.. I appreciate it! I have finally made a deal to get a used one and should be getting it this week. I am pretty sure I will be doing a lot of the things you have mentioned or something similar: The original owner used 2 servos per wing but i will only be using one 8611 per wing... havent decided for sure if I will just use the inboard location or move to a center one. original onwer had one 5955 on push/pull rudder like you said... I'll be leaving that the same. will probably get cf wing tube and gear ... Did you ever remember where you got the gear? I'm pretty excited about this project and cant wait to get myhands on it. The way I figure I should be able to make it 2 pounds lighter than the original configuration with the DA 100. (1 pound in the engine, 10 ounces between tube and gear, 5 ounces w/ only 1 servo per wing) Guess we'll see ... but I'm very optimistic! Thanks again, Scott

Aerotech 35% Yak
Hey guys, I know this plane has been around for a few years but I havent heard TOO much about it. I am acquiring a new unfinished one in a trade this weekend and was just wondering if anybody has had any experience with one at all. I'd like to hear any good, bad or indifferent reports. ANY advice on setup would be great etc. Seems like it should be a great bird to me... bigger than most 35%ers and pretty good scale lines. I'm 99% sure it's gonna be a DA100 on the front but if anybody has any other suggestions I'm all ears. Anybody have any guess if full pipes coudl go in this bird? I ask because I have a nice set and with it being slightly bigger/ heavier than some others it coudl be good for a lil power. Thanks in advance for ANY input!!! Scott

35% Yak... DA 100 on full length pipes???
Hi all, I am buying a 35% yak from someone on here and I'm wondering if anybody has used a DA100 with full length pipes in theirs? Is it possible to fit the pipes? would they be a good addition or just added weight/ overkill??? Any other thoughts or tips on completing/ flying this plane would be appreciated!!! The one I am getting is essentially an ARC from what I can tell. Thanks in advance!!! Scott in MD

Gerald, Thanks for the input. Good to hear. Did you do anything to lighten your plane? Carbon fiber parts, mod the plane etc??? whered ya get the carbon stuff if thats what ya did? The one I am looking at is an older one so I dont know how much of a difference that will make. How, does it do in a hover and pulling out with the 85? Like I said I dont need a rocket ship but I want adequate power to get me out of trouble when I need it. Thanks again!!! Scott

Hangar 9 33% Cap with a 3W 75???
Hi all, I think I have decided to purchase a used Hangar 9 33% Cap and wondering whether I should use the 3W 75 I already have or buy a DA 100 for it? I don't need a TON of extra power but would like to be able to learn some hovering etc with it. Any thoughts? Has anyone flown this plane with a similar setup? I believe the 3w spins roughly the same props as a zdz 80. I have a Mejzlick 26 - 10 on it. It looks like the 3w is about a pound ligher than the DA 100. What do you guys think? I appreciate any insight!!! Thanks in advance! Scott

33% H9 Cap or 33% Aeroworks 330L???
I have the opportunity to purchase one of two 33% planes at a great deal and need help deciding! The two planes are the H9 33% Cap and an Aeroworks 33% Extra 330L Patty. I will be doing both IMAC type stuff and learning some 3D as well. Either plane will be powered by a DA100 and both would cost me very close to the same. Any thoughts??? pluses or minuses to either plane would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks in Advance!!! Scott
