RE: Wheeeeeeee.......... Blade CP!
Jeff, LMAO on that video of the flybarless heli.. We talked about it, awhile ago.. That's the same one I watched some time ago..[:D][:D] When you go flybarless, think about you flying it in your mind, before you actually do it.. I did that a zillion times with the T-600, and man it did make a difference.. Sometimes patience is the key. Good luck on that one, I know you'll pull it off for sure. Hey, thanks for bragging on me on battery time.. But, I was just barely doing Sports flying, to get use to the size of this critter. I'd like to get at least another 1/2 dozen packs before, I do anything fancy.. [:D] Remember, I'm old, and very methodical in all the crap I do. Here's a link from Hobby City on some 6s 20C 5000 mAh packs for 60 bucks.. I could have gotten 4 of these for the price of the one I have. LMAO! I'm gonna pick up a few of them and some EC5 connectors tomorrow.. With my flying style, that's all I need. Fly, change battery, Fly change battery, Fly Change battery... Lol! But with only one battery it's fly and recharge. YIKES! Almost forgot, I use "The Greaser" on all my bearings.. JPEE does too, and swears by "The Greaser" 50 bucks and worth every penny in the long haul.. JPEE hasn't had a bearing failure since. Here's the link: http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=9176&Product_Name=Turnigy_5000mAh_6S_20C_Lipo_Pack

RE: Wheeeeeeee.......... Blade CP!
Hi Guys, Finally a day without rain, the weather was right around 50 degrees, with little to no wind. Bright and sunny out, to boot. Can't beat that with a 2x4..[8|] So today was a 2 BRICK (battery) kinda day. My second flight with the T-600 was just a duplicate of the first, a little bit of nothing fancy. Flight # 3, I got a tiny bit more agressive, but nothing crazy.. Still, just in the back yard of the Chopper Manson.[:)][:)] This thing is totally awesome to fly. I did pick up a few bugs on the leading edge of both blades. LMAO! A rag with warm water remove them in a heart beat. I'm feeling much better about that now, bug-les-blades.[:D] Oh, in both flights, the battery, ESC and motor NEVER got warm at all. So far, I'm really impressed with the T-600 and the electronics that came with the combo package. I'm hoping that the bag of small srews and tiny parts I have, were extra that Align provided and not something I forgot to put together. [sm=lol.gif][sm=lol.gif][sm=lol.gif] - Here's the scoop on the 5,000 mAh Brick for those of interest: I'm pushing an Align 650L motor, mounted with a 14T pinion. And the Align 100 amp ESC. I used the Bantam charger, set to a 5 amp, balance charge and let er rip. Man this thing is cool too. First good charger I've ever had. Flight #2 4 minutes in duration: Time to charge: 31:58 minutes mAh's put back in: 1,431 All 6 cells were at 4.19 volts Flight #3 also 4 minutes in duration: Time to charge: 31:09 minutes mAh's put back in: 1,588 All 6 cells were at 4.19 volts This Bantam charger gets it down to a gnats a$$ for sure. An educated guess why I had to put more mAh's back in with the third flight, as mentioned, I was a little more aggressive. With the above statistics, I should be good to go for almost 8 minutes, but I'll never push this battery that far.. I'll go for 5 minutes tomorrow weather permitting.. If it does, I'll head out to my private Aldis field.[8D] Later Gators, Dave

Rick, I'm glad to hear that you've got the inhaler working properly now and that the Dr. has ordered you some stronger medications. You do what he says and rest and rest some more. Or I'll have to get that 2x4 out and smack ya one.[X(] Find ya a couple good DVD movies and watch those. The helis can wait for awhile. Love ya Rick, Dave

RE: Wheeeeeeee.......... Blade CP!
JPEE, The main shaft for the Legend 450 is very unique indeed, I'm guessing because it's the only 450 size heli that has a belt drive. See attached picture.. Any shaft that you can find that is the same diameter, which is 5 mm will work.. The top hole in both shafts are the same distance from the top of the shaft.. That's pretty standard for the head to attach to the shaft. It's the bottom hole that gets you. The shaft on the left, is the Legend main shaft and the one on the right is one from the HK 450.. As you can see the hole on the Legend shaft is much higher from the bottom of the shaft than the HK 450 shaft... If you can get your hands on a 5 mm shaft, you could always drill the hole for the bolt that goes through the tail pulley gear that is attached to the main gear. Other than Xheli, I don't know of any other online store that carries this shaft. BTW, it's okay if the shaft is longer that the Legend shaft, there's nothing under the bottom bearing to prevent a longer shaft. Hope this helps you and your friend out. Vic, So sorry to hear about Ricks health, being the senior citizen he is, it becomes more and more imperitive to do what the doctors say and to take medications on time, all the time. Hoping it's not pneumonia, that's much harder to rid off at his age. Keep us posted if you talk to him today or whenever you contact him.

Jeff, If you ever get a chance to come to the Chopper Mansion, you'll be the first to fly the 600. That's for sure.. (What's that, wind???[:D]) I've got to look into the 700 and 800 when they come available. YIKES! Didn't mean to make ya cough up the dinner, but Ya gotta remember Jeff, I was born and raised in a ghetto... 2x4's and baseball bats. Oh, and some brass knucks. That Solid G Gyro, from Curtis Youngblood has GOT to be the cats ass for sure. He only expects the best of the best. You're still a young puppy and can go full bore, per say. Rick, needs to SLOW DOWN. I do more than I should in that area, always busy doing something, maybe not a lot, but doing something. They country is a done deal, just a small matter of time. Flying in Leslie's barn, that's on a rainy day or high winds obviously. Just the maiden flight of basics, showed me all the potential it has. Hopefully it doesn't rain tomorrow. Has been for 2 days now. Leslie has Mafia contact too, but doesn't need them. ( I Love this Picture) Enough of my blabbering on, I'm tired.

RE: Wheeeeeeee.......... Blade CP!
Kyle, Sounds great, you're coming down to the wire on the Vision 50 and some $$$$ coming in February. Just put it on the charge card now and pay it off then. OOOOPS, for got about the interest charges and late fees.. [:D][:D][:D][;)] Never mind.. I'm running the G770 gyro and 8900G on the Trex 600. I had a maiden last Sunday. Did a few 15 to 20 foot punch outs and it's like Rock Solid. Tail couldn't have moved and inch.. I'm impressed with that combo. Actually, they were designed to work with each other. Door is always open for ya. Just shut the lights off when ya leave.[:)] Rick, You do what the doctors tell you to do. Get some rest, kick back and rest some more. The helis and all will be there next week. If ya don't, I'll send some of my Mafia friends to Houston and kick your butt. I'll have Nicky "The Fish" give you a visit. We love ya Rick, take care of Yourself First, nobody can do that for you, but yourself. Don't get onery on us, ya hear. Chocolates are GOOD. [:D][:D] Jeff, As mentioned, that Die Hard charger is great and does the job well. I've ran the Bantam and 3 old Celectras on it at the same time already. It's got the umph to do it. And at a reasonable price, remember I squeek![:D][:D][:D] On the solar power, not really a bad idea, you could charge a car battery with the solar cells and never spend a nickel on electricity.. I've been reading alot about solar power and wind mill power lately. Now that I'm offically retired. Liz and I will be moving to the country within the next year or so, that's our goal right now. And that may be the route we may go. We're already looking at houses, but not rushing into it. I am totally protected by the Mafia, however, since you're curious about the distance from Kyle to me. It's roughly 75 miles give or take. And with his wife taking classes at IU next year. They'd have to drive past my MANSION ([:D][:D]) to get there. Vic, "Remember, you can't teach an OLD DOG new tricks.... " Your right there, that is for sure. However, you can still take a 2x4 and club them in the head. LMAO![8D] Just an old Mafia thing..[sm=punching.gif][sm=punching.gif]

RE: Wheeeeeeee.......... Blade CP!
Hi Fellas, When I purchased my Trex 600 and the Bantam Charger. I didn't have a power supply with enough guts to power the Bantam Charger. I looked around and found several, anywhere for 40 to 90 dollars and up. I thought about it and figured all I could use it for was my heli battery stock. I did a little tiny research and found that an Automotive Battery charger would do the trick. So I went to Sears and got a Die Hard Charger for 40 bucks and it works very well and fits the bill precisely. The plus side is that if needed, I can charge car batteries, motorcycle batteries and all. That too, is a win win situation. It has 3 ranges: 2 amps, 10 amps and 50 amps.. More that enough to power several chargers. Dave

The flybar has to move absolutely freely. Lube everything up with a splash of silicone spray. Check for any dirt or hair that maybe in the main gears too. You may want to resize the link on the flybar, or touch it up with some really fine grit sandpaper. Doesn't take to much of anything to make these micros to act funny. Love you guys, Dave

Jeff, I started to do some trimming on the Legend 450. Started with the main gear, cutting off the spokes. I used a blow torch and a knitting needle.. I got the knitting needle red hot, then just sliced the spokes off. Fast and easy.. Not looking to make it look pretty, just lighter. Jeff and John, On your Logo 10 and Trex 600, respectively. What type connectors are you guys using on the ESC and main power battery. I've got the deans connectors on mine, and not to thrilled about how difficult they are to snap together. The setup on the Trex 600, makes it difficult to grab them easily to plug them together. Jeff, I know you talked about the EC3 connectors but they are under rated amp wish for a big ass brick battery that we use. Check out the EC5's, rated at 120 amps.. I think I'm going this direction.. RE: Wheeeeeeee.......... Blade CP!
Indiana Chopper here, with a Maiden Flight Report on the Trex 600 It's been windy and cold here all day, I finally said, "Srew it"[:)], and went for the gold. Wind between 10 and 20 mph, gusting. I don't even know where to start. Things today went absolutely flawless, everything I was expecting and much more. We all know that the bigger they are the easier they are to fly. This is my first big heli, and now I'm a true believer in that statement. Even in the wind, as Jeff mentioned in an earlier post, with a 600 size. you'll say, "What Wind". He was right on the money. I didn't even notice it in solid hover. The Trex 600 weighs in at 7.3 pounds, that certainly helps with windy days. I was just in the backyard and did nothing fancy, hovering, forward and backward flight, sideways and all. The yard isn't big enough to fly any circuits with a 600, plus I have to watch the trees and power lines. To coin a phrase, the 600 is "Rock Solid". I did a few punchouts to see how the G770 3D gyro and 8900G tail servo worked.. Totally awesome, the tail never budged an inch. This was the first flight with that Brick 5,000 mah battery, I only flew it for 3 1/2 minutes as a test. Later, I'm gonna throw it on the Bantam charger and see how many mAhs I put back in the battery. That'll give me a rough idea of flight time, I can expect from the pack. All in all fellas, it was just an Incredible 3 1/2 minutes of fun. Hmmm, I was Never Nervous about the maiden flight either. I know I can fly pretty good and I know I can build pretty good. So between the two, it all worked out to pretty good. [:D][:D] Here's a few pictures Mrs. Chopper took.. Nothing special, just proof of the puddin'.. JPEE, I TOLD you I'd do it today...[;)][;)] Dave

RE: Wheeeeeeee.......... Blade CP!
Rick, Hey, I watch the video of you flying that tiny little mSR, that's a sweet little heli for sure. I noticed that the cat didn't really seem to care that you were invading his territory. [:D] Great job keeping it in view of the camera. Was that an important call you got at the end? [sm=72_72.gif] I can tell by the ring that it's not a cordless, one of those good land line phones from AT&T , use to be made by Western Electric. Dave

RE: Wheeeeeeee.......... Blade CP!
Jeff, I remember that video with the number 9 loop. What I did forget is all the great flying previous to the mishap. Kudos on that. The piros on stall turns. YIKES! I think you have a winner there pal! Did ya ever, move the links for 3D flight?? That would make it even more manuverable, lighting stick action per say. Plus, I know your thinking of the longer boom and blades. Double YIKES! on that. Unless it's raining, the maiden on the 600 will happen.. Damn it, and it's suppose to.. Just my luck. Argh....[:D]
ORIGINAL: J-MICHAEL Vic ~ Actually parts arent' to bad price wise... And there's less parts on the Logo than both my Trex's... A very simple and sturdy design, and that's why I need to get her back in the air. Kinda getting burned out on the 450 a bit... LOL.... Yeah that crash was like 2 months ago... Luckily I threw on my spare Trex 500 fiberglass canopy, and all it got was a few scratches. Really hardly any damage... The $25.00 wood blades though provided a nice weak link. [:D] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlZE0vZ61Fk Dave ~ I know ! Anything I can grind off, I'am out there grinding away...... (LMAO).... Can't wait for the maiden report ! [8D]
Jeff-Michael, I snoop all the time, I just forgot to go into Stealth mode. I read where you mentioned that the bigger the heli, the tighter the blades have to be. Makes sense.
I just learned that from over on Helifreak by some gents... I guess then the Raptor .90's are VERY tight...LOL... So just a few weeks ago, I tightened by 500's blades... They were on the looser side like the 450's.... Yikes....[:D]
RE: Wheeeeeeee.......... Blade CP!
ORIGINAL: J-MICHAEL Oh............. I got me a little ''junk pile'' going on from the T-500... [:)] She has always been a fat azz, so I'am deducting some crap from her, and then next will get out my trusty ol Dremel, and perform some ''lipo-suction'' techniques.... (LMAO).... Getting into mischief again..... Heh.... [:D]
Jeff, Just amazing, how much weight you can get rid of. Performance wise it make all the difference in the world. I know going from different battery weights... Heavy to light per say. It's an obvious and an incredible difference. You CAN feel it in the Sticks. Lipo-Suction, is a good thing with the helis.[:)] Vic, You've must have been taking a nap. [:)] Jeff posted a video of the Logo 10 crash. His Loop, looked like the number 9. Bottom part of the 9, was in the ground. YIKES! Me too, Liz knows where I'm at and not in the bars. [X(][X(][X(]
