Volcano S30 controller problem
My steering servo went bad on my volcano s30 so i order a new one. when i put it in the truck, my controller would not work on the truck. The trottle was working fine even when the steering servo was unhooked. Now my transmitter and reciever wont connect. No response from controller to truck at all. when I turn the truck on, the failsafe ativates holding the brake on. the light on the reciever is blinking. I tried new batteries in both the truck and the controller, and reset the reciever. Can someone please tell my what i need to do to get it to work again. All i was trying to do was change a steering servo and this happened. Everything else was fine when i parked the truck while I waited for the part to arrive.

RE: Whats with redcats' shipping?
Thank you for all the feedback. I did see an option when I checked out to ship USPS. guess that woulda been a good idea since all I ordered was a cpl dogbones and driveshafts. I now understand that it isn't redcats fault. sorry for venting.

RE: Redcat Racing Volcano Thread
To the guy that was having problems with idle screw vibrating loose. either put some blue loc-tite on the screw or do what i did. I wrapped some teflon tape around it so it would fit tighter. hope this helps

RE: Why Plastic Rims?
I dont know bout the 17mm nut. My truck came with 12mm hex nuts. Im kinda sick of breaking them tho. the rims are so cheaply made. I think im gona look for a good set. Not worried bout them being a lil more expensive. whats the sense in having a nitro truck that I cant drive if the wheels keep falling off or wont even turn?

Why Plastic Rims?
Has anyone else had trouble with the rims on a volcanoS30? All four of mine broke. Right where the nut holds it on the shaft. I put washers on them and tightened the nut. So far so good with that but now the inside of the rim where the hex goes in the rim just spins around and wont turn the wheels. It has stripped them out. Is there an aluminum rim that can be purchased to keep this from happening again or am I stuck buying cheap plastic rims for this truck?

RE: Volcano S30 c drive cup removal?
I dont know what pins you guys are talking about but i figured it out. There are 4 screws on the side of the differential gear that need to be removed. That exposes the planetary gear................thus exposing the "e" clip holding the "c" drive cup and axle in place. Thanx for your help anyway

RE: Volcano S30 c drive cup removal?

I removed the differential, took the back off of it, removed the gear, took the bearings off.......................Now how the heck to I get the cup shaft out of the gear? there are no "e" clips exposed holding the shaft into the gear. Im stumped. It is a drive cup "C". No set screw in these cups either

RE: volcano drive train question
The drive cup im talking about is the one that comes out the right side and goes to the wheel. I'm assuming you are talking about the same one Allaboutfunhobbies? Guess I will order the parts and wait till they get here. Truck is still driveable. It is just 2wd instead of 4wd. thanks for your help

RE: Which redcat truck should i get?
It will take all 300 to get what you need to run the S30 if this is your first nitro truck because you will need to buy a glow igniter and fuel. I got the S30, a quart of fuel, and a basic starter set and it all came to 295 bucks. Been pretty happy with the truck so far. As another poster said, no big problems other than self inflicted ones. its a great truck and very fast.

RE: volcano drive train question
I dont think that is the right part though. This comes right out of the front differential. Must be some kind of a shaft that goes into the differential and the drive cup is hooked to it. The cup does not have a set screw on it. I am wondering if the shaft pulls out of the differential or if i have to buy a whole new one just to replace that cup. The dog bone musta broke the cup in half. pins are gone in the dog bone too so i know I need a new one of those.

Exactly my point. that would be like taking a street car in the dirt and stones and expect it to perform.

RE: redcat trucks
I just got a volcano S30 and I must say, this truck has plenty of power. Probably too much power for running on hard surfaces. I've seen alot of people complaining because they breaking dogbones, drive cups, ect. Then they say how they run it on hard concrete or asphalt. Thats what ya get for running an off road truck on road. So far, I'm pretty happy with my purchase. The engine runs great and the transmittion is nice and smooth. So are the brakes. Had to do a little adjusting with the brakes but otherwise a great RTR truck. I would say go for it if you are thinking of buying one of these trucks. Just don't buy it thinking you can beat the guts out of it and not have to fix anything. I would also like to add that I wish redcat would offer some kind of wheel made of allumimum instead of plastic. My one wheel broke off where it hooks to the hub. fixed with a flat washer tho. Guess anything in the drive train should be made of some sort of metal since that is where all the stress is at.

volcano drive train question
I have a volcano S30. the right front dog bone fell out and bent. It also broke the cup next to the differential. Is the cup replaceable or do I need to buy a whole new differential?
