RE: T-28 upgrade for PK-T28
ORIGINAL: lbarnes I have ordered the below motor. It will match my physical size of the PZ-480. http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=3884&Product_Name=TR_35-42D_1000kv_Brushless_Outrunner_eq:_AXi_2820 I did this as not to have to spend an addition $19.00 for the longer motor mounts for the PZ that are being sold on Ebay. I think this will match up pretty close and give me more watts and power. The ESC was HK-SSH50/10013, $12.00 Good luck Larry
It seems like everyone is going for the 35-36C motor. I'm intriqued by the 35-42D because it does appear to be a direct fit. Anyone have experience with that motor in the T-28?

RE: Ultra-Micro P-51 BNF by ParkZone
Does the replacement landing gear come with the plastic mounting bracket, or do you have to buy a replacement wing to get that part? Seems to me they should sell it with the gear, as it is the part most likely to break off the wing, rather than the wire gear pulling out of the plastic bracket. I just about lost one of my gear and bracket after hitting a tree. Almost gave up after looking for a while. Lots' of leaves around this time of years. Went back to take one last look and found the gear and plastic bracket. Reattached with epoxy, and all is well. The other day when checking my cg I noticed with the gear off the cg shifts slightly back. Not enough to be really concerned, but noticable on my cg balancer. I'll probably start moving the battery 1 or 2 mm forward to compensate when flying without the landing gear.

RE: Do you ever attract a large crowd when flying at the park?!
Agreed that I don't like crowds when flying my T-28 or SC. I think anyone that would fly anything heavier than the T-28 around anyone is crazy. Even the T-28 is iffy, and I usually only fly it out of town. It is one thing when parents come over with their kids, stand at the edge of the field to watch, and politely approach me after landing. When I was first learning on my SC at the high school, the old timers sat out in front of their houses across the street and cheered when I had a good touch and go, or loop. I admit that is kind of fun. But alway, always, keep it clear of people. The worst is when you are bringing down, on final approach, and some little kids run out toward it on the landing spot. If they don't get hit on landing, they will trample it when they approach. Argh. I wait until it is safe to get it down and pack up for the day when unattended kids are near. If parents are nearby I politely warn them to keep their children back for safety.

RE: Trojan T-28 maiden flight!!
Foam safe CA is good. 5 minute epoxy is good (though some brands dry yellow). I sometimes fill "gaps" in the fuselage with a mixture of epoxy and bits of styrofoam. Otherwise, if it is the leading edge of a wing, use clear plastic packaging tape.

RE: Do you ever attract a large crowd when flying at the park?!
Not large crowds, but when I fly at the High School (as opposed to out of town) I often get one or two people stop and ask questions. I was flying my one and only 27mz plane (a SuperCub) a the high school when a neighborhood kid brought out his walmart r/c car to run next to me. I brought mine down in a real hurry....before his tx shot it down.

RE: FABULOUS FRONT YARD FIGHTER FLYING FUN REPORT
I fly mine in out cul de sac. It is possible, but learning to control it without clipping or landing in the surrounding trees will take time. It is much faster and harder to fly in a yard the the PZ micro Cessna. But, it also has so much more potential as it is 4 channel!

TechyJoe, I too wish it had come out earlier in the summer. 3 day weekend off, and we get snow. It is also windy this time of year. I've had it over a week now, and only two, very marginal days to fly it. I can't wait to get it out when there is no wind to bounce it around.

RE: DuraTrax Evader
The new evader ext is very tough. I would get that, the truck version. Remember you will also need to buy batteries and a charger. Buy a "peak" charger, that automatically shuts off when the battery is full, something like the Dynamite Prophet series for less than $50 is a good choice.

RE: ParkZone Ultra-Micro P-51 BNF
Took mine out for my second flights yesterday. I'm beginning to get control of it. Flying it after my 3 channel micro Cessna really does remind me of moving from the Supercub to the T-28! I had to play with a trim a bit to get it to fly straight and level at cruise throttle. Very fun, and I'm getting better at landings.

RE: Parkzone f4U Corsair Rtf
ORIGINAL: rolieharris When you talk about e-flight 480, are you talking the size of the motor? Also, I need a tougher motor. I've gone through 2 parkzone 480's. They still work, but the black metal cracks and breaks on what seems like a minor front end crash. The rest of the plane is fixable, but the motor won't take it. This is the first plane that I've had this problem with. Can you guys recomend a motor comparible? Thanks Rolie
If the front end of your motor housing is cracking, simply coat the surface with plastic compatible epoxy. Spread a thin film over it and let harden. Mine works great after doing this twice!

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan
I got one of the first t-28's when they first came out. If the cg is set to factory specs it is very crisp and responsive. After a few crashes and fixes to the cowl and firewall, and changing some electronics, I tested the CG and found it had moved forward quite a bit. That made it very stable, but sluggish. I put a screw in the tail for weight, and moved the battery back about 2 inches and it flies very well again.
ORIGINAL: psb667 What am i doing wrong? My trojan is a total dog its wallowy and dosnt respond has no crispness at all. I can fly the thing all day long no problem but it never delivers anything even vaguely exciting. Ive seen video of good clean crisp flights from the trojan, so I know its possible
Check your center of gravity. If it is too nose heavy it "wallows" a bit and is unresponsive. Are your batteries beginning to lose their power?

RE: Supercub LP :The plane I should have gotten first!
I bought the original SC. Never flown an RC plane in my life. First time out ROG, flew around the field, and made a hard, but unbroken landing in the grass. It really is the best trainer, and now with LIPO it should be a great plane.

RE: Parkzone North American T-28 Trojan
ORIGINAL: theace7 Have been flying the T28 Trojan and have a question in that the motor vibrates at half throtle. Has anyone had this problem?
I have noticed that - slight vibration at about 1/2 to 2/3 throttle. Goes away at full. I have changed props and motor shafts. I have beefed up the motor mount with hot glue. Still there. It could be that it is simply a "harmonic" point that causes vibration. I've never had it be severe enough to affect flight or handling.

RE: Spektrum Dx6i + Super Cub
You would need a receiver, new servos (not standard), and I believe perhaps an ESC to switch to the DX6i.

RE: suggestions for 2nd plane?
The T-28 is a great follow on to the Supercub. However, don't fly it until you are able to fly the supercub competently. By that I mean, you are able to land it where you want to, and are flying around with confidence. The T-28, while not fast by comparison to other airplanes, is a real handful if your only experience is the SC. Make sure you have a really big flying area.

RE: Official Hobby Zone
ORIGINAL: MCSEVZ
In Lipo's the "C" rating the amperage. A 10C battery can put out 10x the MAH rating of the battery. For example, a 10C, 1500Mah battery can safely produce 15 amps. In my bench tests the stock motor and esc on the SC draws 8-10 amps.

RE: I Would just like to make a point!
I have 2 evader buggies and a rustler. I don't run the rustler anymore. The evaders are so much more fun and run circles around the rustler. I've broken parts on the rustler, but do admit it is a bit stronger. I'm convinced the biggest problem in bashing is people don't understand physics. Drop a car standing still from 6 feet it will break. Jump a car to six feet in height, and it lands just as hard as dropping it. Something is bound to break eventually. My Losi XXXT breaks under the same duress....

RE: Which cars/trucks would you NOT recommend, based on your experience?
I have two Evader BX and MQ. I like them both, and they are durable. The thing about duratrax is that they are budget r/c cars. Typically there is one to two things you need to do to make them durable. For example, with the MQ, replace the ESC. It will only strip gears as it goes from full forward to full reverse, no brake. So many people bash DTX, personally I like them, drive them far more than I ever drove my Losi XXXT.

RE: cx2 motors getting hot,fly time short
I have an original Blade CX that was purchased when it first came out. I was on my second set of stock motors but hadn't flown it much in a couple of years. For Christmas my daughter gave me a Jet Ranger body for it. I noticed the same thing - short run times, high battery draw (red light always on the control unit), and little power. The extra weight of the jet ranger body didn't help. I ordered and installed a set of Xtreme 180 motors as an upgrade. I put them in a couple of days ago, and wow! It is like a new ship. So much more power! I highly recommend these motors. Do a little shopping around as online prices vary.

RE: Parkzone T28 BL
It is nice they are selling with spectrum receiver and larger esc. I think the AF paint scheme is not as attractive as the Navy. The orange and white paint scheme is what caught my eye in the first place. Just my 2 cents... there is something about "silvered" foam that doesn't appeal to me. BTW - I was also Army, so it isn't bias due to service rivalry....
