I don't know how much noise the brushless electric versions of the Jackal makes, but it is faster than the Jett 56 with pipe. I think they were talking about 180 mph with their electric Jackal 50 Chris Shaker

RE: H9 Jackal 50 Prop Jet
Decided to use two servos on the elevator for strength, since this a 160 mph airplane. I mounting a second S3152 for the elevator. The kit comes with a pushrod that controls both halves of the elevator with one servo, but they also made the kit support two elevator servos. Got it installed, and there is no binding!

RE: H9 Jackal 50 Prop Jet
Worked on the Jackal again this evening. Opened up the air accessories bag that contained the air control valve. The air control valve is missing the nuts that you use to mount it. Seems it was a bad day for quality control at Robart when they packaged up this gear. RE: H9 Jackal 50 Prop Jet
Got back to working on my Jackal 50 last night, and one of the Robart main gear is defective from the factory. One of the main gear is missing at least one part, the back stop rod that stops movement of the trunion at 90 degrees. It may also be missing other parts, because it does not seem to want to lock at 90 degrees, either. Also, several of the Torx screws are loose. Appears that this main gear was shipped before it was done, and before it was inspected. I left a message with Robart about it, and haven't heard anything back from them about it yet. Chris Shaker

RE: Becareful fake Futaba products on market
Futaba has a website about the fakes, but it is out of date http://www.futaba-rc.com/techsupport/counterfeit.html Fake gyros also now appear to have gold contacts on their connectors. The fakes use regular phillips screws on the bottom of the case, instead of security screws requiring a tri blade driver. If you open it up, the fake gyro contains a large metal nut inside of it! Link to pictures below. Also, the product numbers on the bottom paper insert inside the plastic case are different. On the FAKE, the numbers are "07101492-1", and "GY401-020". On the real Futaba gyro, the numbers on the bottom of the case are "01101472-1", and "GY401-001". I was wrong. Looking over my purchasing history, the prices were about the same for all three AR8000 receivers, within $10 or so. Even with having to purchase a satellite receiver, my average price for these three AR8000s delivered to my house will be around $100/ea. If I look at it that way, I'm not so pissed, given their list price Chris Shaker

RE: Spektrum AR8000 useless without satellite
Dennis: I've been a Futaba FASST user, with a 12FG. No satellites needed for them. Had been using a DX6i for my many Horizon BindNFly airplanes and helicopters. Recently got the DX8, and have been trying to learn more about Spektrum. Using the DX8 for the Blade 400 I'm repairing, and for two TRex helis under construction. I love the LiPo battery, the backlight, and the vibrating timer. Much easier to program than the 12FG. From what I read, DSMX is every bit as good as FASST, and I'm enjoying learning about it. I assumed that the receiver would work without the satellite, since the seller did not say it would not work. I think it was dishonest of him not to point out that the satellite receiver is required for the receiver to work at all, especially since he seemed to already know that. I'm trying to wait until I'm not so pissed at him before I score him as a seller. Chris Shaker
ORIGINAL: DadsToysBG Chris I didn't mean to imply that it's your fault. some time we, me included just assume people understand how things work. The manual doesn't say in anyway but did does show the sat in the pictures and how to place them. It does not show the 8000 without the sat. To boot up the system the sat. must be installed if the sat. fails after that the system is on it will continue to work until you turn it off. then it will not boot. I don't know when you bought your radio but the manual says DSM2. All the Spektrum 8ch will do both S and X. When the radio was first sold Horizon wasn't ready to announce the upgrade to X so they left it off the early radios. On the screen on the upper Rt. will say X or S depending on the type of receiver your using. Right now only the AR600 receiver doesn't use a sat. in full range. also the small park flyer receivers don't us them. This was a hard way to learn and if it had been me selling the receiver i would have said it in the same way. Maybe I also learned a lesson too. Dennis
If you want to read the eBay ad, the item number is 180862913514. Nowhere does it tell me that the satellite receiver is required for the receiver to actually work! I did not find that out until I received it and attempted to use it. Then, I found forum messages telling me that it does not work without the satellite receiver. RE: Spektrum AR8000 useless without satellite
The seller appears to have known that the receiver was not functional without the satellite receiver. His ad did not state that the receiver was not functional. And eBay ruled in his favor. Please show me where I could have found that this receiver will not function without the satellite receiver installed from reading the manual for this receiver: http://www.spektrumrc.com/ProdInfo/Files/SPMAR8000-Manual.pdf If that tidbit of information is in there, I sure as hell am not seeing it. From where I sit, the seller pulled a fast one, and you think it is ok for sellers like that to pull the same trick? I've also since read that a DSM2 satellite receiver will not work with the DMX receivers. And the DMX satellite receiver appears to be back ordered. Chris Shaker
ORIGINAL: DadsToysBG Do you know that a DMX sat. will not work with the older DSM2 receivers. You can't mix the two in any way. RE: Spektrum AR8000 useless without satellite
Because it will not function without the satellite. The seller appears to have known that, but did not put that in his ad. Real honest? I don't see that fact mentioned in the manual for the receiver nor the radio, either, unless I am missing it. Not sure how I was supposed to know that it would not function at all without the satellite receiver when the manual doesn't even tell me that? I have verified that it is not functional on my DX8. It appears to bind, but does not work. I have submitted an eBay claim on it. The really stupid thing is that I paid more for that one than I have for two other AR8000s on eBay which included the satellite receiver, and actually work. I've been picking them up for around $75 brand new, complete and working, from people who got them free with their DX8 and don't need them. Chris Shaker
ORIGINAL: nk3t Why is it a scam? Given how everyone is going to FBL helicopters, I would expect the sales of single axis gyros are way down. So, when I saw people paying $70 for these fake gyros, it seemed possible that they were real. Also, the fact that they were coming from Canada gave it more credibility in my mind (how wrong I was). RE: DX8 spectrum beware
I also see those internet ads for the DX8 with free receivers all over the hobby internet as well. Chris Shaker
ORIGINAL: Brian Dorff
ORIGINAL: AndyKunz Did you actually read the ad? Does ''while supplies last'' mean anything? Andy
Andy, I completely agree with you, and If a magazine ad comes as the offer is running out, you cant do much. the magazine ad times run too far in advance for you to gauge when the supply will run out. However... if you go over to the RCG radio forum, the banner ad advertising the 2 free Rx offer is EVERYWHERE! the ad is still up. If you click on the ad, it brings you to the horizon page for the DX8, which no longer comes with 2 free Rx's. This does very much look like bait and switch. I'm pretty darn sure the Internet ad could be DC'd the same day that supplies run out. one phone call and a few mouse clicks could change the ad back to normal, or better yet, a DMSS ad. :)
Yes, I did read the ad, and I asked my local hobby shop to get me one with the free receivers soon after I started to see the ads. You'll note that I did secure one from another dealer that contained the free receivers. I also will mention that my DX8 has a line of what appears to be glue on the display, too, which was UNDER the protective screen cover plastic. Pissed me off to have that happen on a brand new radio. I also have a DX-18 on order from my local hobby shop, D's Hobbies, in Bend, OR. Spektrum AR8000 useless without satellite
Another scam on eBay that I just got burned by is that Spektrum AR8000 receivers are useless without their satellite receiver. Found that out after I stupidly bid on one and purchased it, for a higher price than I paid for two other complete ones. Of course his ad did not mention that the receiver would not WORK AT ALL without the satellite receiver. Fake Futaba GY401 gyros on eBay again
A warning to you all, since I recently ended up with one of them. Sellers are again selling FAKE Futaba GY-401 gyros on eBay. From what I can determine, they are cheap piezo gyros put into a fake Futaba gyro case, with a large metal nut added in to make the weight match a real one. Futaba has a page about the fakes, but it needs to be updated. They only mention a font difference and say that the clones have silver plated contacts. Wish I knew the difference before I gave the seller good feedback. I did not think to check mine for being a fake until another purchaser contacted me to see if mine was also fake, as his was. Now, the clones also appear to have gold plated contacts. The fakes use regular phillips screws, instead of security screws requiring a tri blade driver. If you open up a fake one, it contains a large metal nut. I assume it is to make the weight the same as a real one. Also, the product numbers on the bottom of the plastic box it comes in are different. On the FAKE, the numbers are "07101492-1", and "GY401-020". On the real Futaba gyro, the numbers on the bottom of the case are "01101472-1", and "GY401-001".
