RE: Magic 60
Its been a long time since I had both but if I remember correctly they both flew very similar. The Magic was faster and I think it had a bit more roll couple with the rudder. Other then that I don't remember any difference. The Magic is a bit more complicated to set up with the inverted engine and "S" header. I had a Super Tiger X-61 in mine and the plane defined the term ballistic.

Probably close to the same prince it sold for in the 60's when you figure in inflation. Didn't really go up in value.. :-)

RE: KITTY HAWK MODELS SKYNIGHT-6
Just as a side note Kitty Hawk Models did most of the glass work for GreatPlanes. Years ago I picked up a GP Cap 20L and needed the cowl and canopy, I saw a small add in RCM that KHM offered the parts I needed. When I called and ordered I learned that they did GP's glass work.

Ron I agree! My father and uncle were both there, my dad flew control-line at that time but my uncle Jerry (Worth) was flying pattern. I started flying R/C one year later in '73

I have flown at your field a couple of times and its a very nice one. Last time there was some A-10's in the distance doing some training runs.

RE: You Guys See This On The News?
I am not putting down the AMA, my concern is that we as a whole are not big enough to fight if it would come down to it. We clearly don't have the lobbying power of say the NRA for example. Hopefully this will all just blow over and be yesterdays news in a week or so.

RE: You Guys See This On The News?
It's not a matter of whether or not it would have worked it the fact the now the worlds eyes are focused on our hobby. Very careful steps need to threaded here. The AMA needs to be the voice here, something I am not sure they are capable of.

RE: World Championship Acapulco 1981
If that is in fact the original Magic then I wouldn't say it wasn't built well but didn't age well. Did Hanno leave the plane there after the WC or was it a backup one?

RE: phoenix ARF
Customer service is what makes or breaks a company. The service department is what most customers see (outside of sales) and are what most customers remember. In a global market where your product is being mfg'ed thousands of miles from your biz there's a lot of room for mistakes. It's also an economic issue. Should HH open every box to examine the final product? Yes but is it economically prudent? No it's not so you depend on the MFG to produce thing's correctly and pull samples from time to time to check. This is where customer service come in and from what I am reading where they appear to be failing. If you look at it from HH's side, CS is probably getting thousands of calls a day about product issues(not just from the P7). I don't know how big the department is but they could be severely over worked which will produce slip-ups. Lets cut a bit of slack here, it's an ARF, its not going to be perfect. Customer service is not going to be perfect. If your not getting the response you need (notice I didn't say want) then move up the ladder. If enough bad press gets out either the product issues will be fixed or the product will be pulled.

RE: Never to late...
I remember when ACE bought the remainder of Pro-Line. I lusted after the Silver Seven and when they came out with the white case it was a done deal. Built from the kit and I still have it today. Many many years ago I met Jim Fosgate at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas, he was there promoting Rockford-Fosgate audio equipment. As corny as it was I thanked him for making the best damn radios you could buy. Funny thing is no one around us knew what the hell I was talking about.

Nice find! I still have three of these somewhere around here. I used Pro-Line for years before switching to a Futaba 8JN (then later a JR unlimited 8).

Very nice. It's a shame there are so few videos out there of him flying. I did have the pleasure of seeing him fly at the '83 worlds in FLA.

Nice video! Why is it that every flying video always has some one hovering?.. ok I get it you over powered the plane. I am far more impressed by a smooth rolling circle then hovering.

I had that ARF "kit" and yep Tony is right it was crap! It did fly ok but it was so poorly put together that I was always afraid to ring it out fearing that it would just blow apart. I always like the look of the plane though.

RE: APC prop performance tale...
The prop can really make a difference. One thing you said here that makes me nervous is that you flew the prop after you "dinged" it. My general rule is any ding or scrape on a prop I change it till I can inspect it and re-balance it in the shop.
