RE: Sterling Stearman, engine choice.
I have a stearman the same size but not a sterling model and i just installed a 26cc XYZ on it and seem to balnce out great I also have a sterling model FS 20 stearman that i'm working on and plan to install a ST 2500 converted to gas by Ken Lambert . I just finished a 1/4 scale duncan huttson odel tiger moth 88"w.s. that i installed a 31 cc riyobi on but i think that would be way to big for your stearman. My vote small gas or large four stroke.

Sorry Av8tor I must have stated that wrong, the crank has ball bearings! The rod is the part that has the needle bearings on the crank and on the piston pin. clocknut

RE: 77cc Chrysler ?
Yes I can do that cut off the threads and drill and tap it.I can also mount my prop hub and true it up while the crank is in the lathe. Yes my engine is probably heavy but it is a conversion engine and you have to give a Little to get a Little.I could just trash it like the last guy and go out and buy a DA like everyone else [:D]but this is more fun and rewarding to me. Thanks everyone. clocknut

RE: 77cc Chrysler ?
Sorry no, I will be using the tapered shaft side which also has the left handed thread.carb on the side exhaust in the rear.Yes the mounting looks like it will be very easy. One of the questions I had was how to deal with the left hand threads?I will be taking it apart and getting a good measurement to get the actual cc's and doing what ever I have to to make a prop hub and deal with the threads and removing any weight that I can. This is a new engine and has never been run so it should make a good conversion if I can get everything figured out.

had I posted the picture that shows the plate you might have noticed[:D] So do you think this engine would be a good candidate for conversion?

RE: cg for taube
Well 40 size makes a lot of sense to me and I just happen to have a OS 46 setting on the shelf that I would trust way more then the little Fox.That little fox engine doesn't weigh anything and I think the extra weight of a larger engine would help get the CG right. But I still need to know where that might be? Thanks guys for the help

You could be right but i have heard that a 40-55 would be way to big??? I wish I had the plans so I could see what size they called for. I don't even know whoes kit it is.

RE: poulan 42cc intake
I have acouple of the 42 poulan's and I think the piston is also different so you would also need to order a piston and ring my old style is together so i can't provide measurements but I just ordered new rings form Frank Bowman He should have all the measurements.

megatech horse fly
Hi everyone I just purchased my first Helli ,its a mega tech horse fly it seems to work OK but the landing gear is all broken up but I found a set and ordered them. What I need is a instruction manual. The transmitter has a bunch of dip switches on the back that I understand are to set it up for the way it flys.I went to mega techs web site but they don't show the manual any more? the link is there but when you click on it it redirects you to something else.I understand that they also sent out a DVD with it? So I hope someone can help me so I can get started out on the right foot with this Little horsefly.

Well guys it is suppose to be almost 50 here today in Iowa/Nebraska and no wind so I can't think of a better time to fly the old timer (no name). I looked once again on my auction ticket for description and the card says? (Boy ridge Mike) if that makes any sense to you because it sure doesn't to me. well I'll let you all know how it goes.
