RE: Power HD servos?
not really a complaint, but you get what you pay for.they seem to have some back and fourth movement in the shaft like the bearing is lose, they seam to center well. after seeing them on my buddies plane i will just stick with what i am using now.

Yep,i just now have 12 flights on the 3D Hobbyshop Extra 300SHP with a BME 58, and i think it's a better flier than my EF Yak with the same engine.

tman,i bought one of the first 57's when they came out,i don't think everything was set in place to handle customer service then? i also agree that there will be problems with anything new,BUT this engine had been on two different air frames and i had to do repairs to both of them due to the vibration from the engine, and i didn't see anything being done to fix that problem.besides i all ready had to much money stuck into this engine and anything that i would do to fix it would be just more money.

RE: How are all you MT57 users making out?
53,i had to pay the postage to CHINA! and Tommy paid the return postage. i am embarrassed to tell how much it was to send to china, but let's just say i could have almost bought another 50cc USA made engine with the price of the MT57 + the postage to china. when i realize the prop hub was out of round i just had enough. also Tommy really tried to keep me happy with the 57,he contacted me about the engine when i posted some low rpm numbers.he said it should be getting better numbers than that and wanted to see it.i also had a crack in the engine case and didn't know about it until Tommy look at it. Tommy was a good person to deal with. i realy liked the engine for it's power, but just could not deal with it any more.

my prop hub was out of round also,i think that might have a lot to do with the shaking that i was getting.i sent the engine to Tommy ounce for a replacement engine in returned, but i just got fed-up with the whole deal and sold the engine and i am done with all China made engines until they start trying a little quality control.i am a firm believer in you get what you pay for.

i tried a Chip Hyde Tunnel Vision 80" profile with the 220.performance was just ok,it had a slow pull out from a hover,i tied different props but just didn't pull out very good.it may have been to heavy for the 220 at 12-3/4 lbs.i still have the 220 and i am going to try it on the OMP 80" Edge sense the weight should be in the 10.5-11.0 lb. range,if it comes in at that weight it should have good pull out. now i am waiting for the Pro Bro fun fly near Toledo Oh.,some times OMP show up there and maybe i can get a deal from them.

about venting the carb,i never ran into this problem with the EF yak until i installed the louver plate on the cowl. the 58gx2 never gave me any trouble at all before the louver plate.after i installed the plate it would run real rich in flight.but the good news is that the engine runs a lot cooler with the plate and a much smoother and not running rich in flight.

yep, i was thinkin the same thing Ralph when i was boxin it up for shipping. the good news is that i got the engine back tonight on the door step.looks like a new piston, rings, and cylinder. sure hope it will still run like it did before.but it might be a while, i put the 58gx2 back in the EF yak with the pipe and i am getting real use to the power all over again, 7400 on a vess 24-a. but the EF yak is a real joy to fly at just under 17lbs. with the BME 58[:D]

RTK,i am running the BME pitts and the tach seems to be working ok,i check it with another tach and same numbers.i was getting 7400 but the numbers increase a little after a two gals. and this reading is taken after a flight,i always get higher numbers after a flight. i never jack the RPM numbers, that does me no good or anyone else, the only person i be fooling is my self.[:D] my spark plug is running a dark gray and i just can't get it any darker,un less i set the low speed burbling rich in the midrange.

RE: Which Vess for dl50?
ORIGINAL: Jake Ruddy Better performance is subjective. a 22B will give you better raw pull out of a hover. 23B will give you lower throttle needed for rolling harriers etc. edit: This doesn't quite make sense. What I meant is you will need less throttle input with the larger prop to keep the plane rotating and the nose up.
EXACTLY,all you half to do is a little tail touching and you would know the felling.[:D] also the 22-b would be like a 22-8,i like the 22-a,great spool up and yanks the tail off the deck.

RE: Extreme Flight 88" Yak - Build and Fly
Gatorb8,maybe some more info on the BME58 will help you decide. the last time i tach the 58 it was getting 7560 on a Vess 23-a.[:D]i know it's a little much for RPM's but it makes pullout from a hover great. also i got 7050 on a Mezjlik 23-8 on the BME 58,but it increase my landing speed.by the way i got 7100 on the Mezjlik 23-8 with the Evo 58gx2,all numbers are on inverted pitts mufflers.i think the Evo 58 will respond to a tuned pipe better than the BME58.i got 7550 on a 24-8 Beila with a MTW pipe on the Evo,but i haven't tried a pipe on the BME yet. Power to weight the BME has it all over the rest![:D]

Gatorb, the 58 BME is a nice engine!i don't think it will turn a 24-8 like the Evo 58,but i wanted to do a 88"EF yak light, much better flying plane. the Evo58 is a power house of a engine,no problems with it at all,you just need a plane that will support a 4lb. engine. i now want to sell the two DA50's i have and replace them with the BME58,also the MT57 will be on the replacement list for the BME58.[:D]

RE: Small rant about gassers
if a gas engine didn't need a ignition,a separate battery, standoff's,they MIGHT be doable in a 120 size plane.but you still can't make the power with gas as easy as you can with a glow engine.so you end up with a plane that is good on fuel and over weight and under power. but if all you do is just sport fly you could get away with a gasser on a plane that is ment for glow,as long as you don't mind a higher wing load. i would love to do gas in this size of plane, but they have not came out with a engine that is light enough or makes more power than a glow in the same size.
