RE: Problem with Redcat Shockwave
Plug the end of the fuel line going to the carb and blow gently into the line that goes to the exhaust. If the fuel tank cap is good it should hold some pressure. If it leaks or the top pops up too easily, then the fuel tank is bad.Check your fuel lines for pin holes by taking each one off and submerging it in water, plug one end and blow in the other end and look for bubbles, flip it around and do the other end. DOUG
ORIGINAL: Reuben-rc The problem with my Redcat Shockwave is that when you try to prime it fuel doesnt go through the gas line cause there is no air pressure. Also I am kind of new to nitro rc cars but is there supposed to be nitro or some liquid everywere after you run it? I think it might be a leak in the gas tank that is causeing both. Please tell me anything you think that it might be. Thank You!
Sure, thanks for the compliment The #2 is the best one. That one took quite awhile to make and paint. It's was done exactly like a car that used to race up here in the 50's. The 71e and 1 were also done like cars that raced here in the 50's also And you have to remember these things were raced and bashed before the pictures were taken LOL DOUG
ORIGINAL: rccrazer do i have your permition to save these? your cars look pheominal! absolute peices of art! RE: Shockwave Wheels
HPI Racing Dish Wheel White 2.2" I run Pro-Line Dirt Hawg I on rear and Pro-Line Dirt Hawg III on the front DOUG[image][/image]
ORIGINAL: jaofos I'd like to explore some options on the wheels for my Shockwave buggy. I know 2.2'', 12mm hex, etc, but the front wheels seem to have a limited depth available due to the C-Hubs (I think?), and aren't as wide as the rear. For giggles I attempted to mount the Talon's from my E-Revo on the buggy, worked on the back but not on the front. Will I have this issue if I go for standard 2.2'' Dish Wheels (such as the HPI ones?). I would eventually like to put some Dirt Hawg's (I on the Rear, III on the Front), and need to know what wheel options I have available.
RE: NEED ENGINE HELP PLEASE!
the large hole in the piston must NOT face the exhaust port. DOUG
ORIGINAL: cswtornado Hey, I was just sealing up my engine and realized I had no idea about the alignment of the piston and rod. I have one of the older VX .18s. One side of the connecting rod has that groove for oil (presumably). Which side of the engine does that face? The carb side or the backplate side? I'm guessing the carb side because of more direct flow but yeah. The other question was about the piston, it's got a hole in the side, again probably for lubing. Looking from the backplate side into the case, is the hole on the right or the left? Thanks... I probably should have been more observant when I took it apart...
RE: Air leak?
There is a O ring seal on the HS needle, they go bad and have to be replaced Backplate-either the gasket is leaking or the bushing is wore out and it has to be replaced DOUG
ORIGINAL: cswtornado I was trying to fire up my VX-18 yesterday, and I got it running great, but then after a couple mins it just leaned out and quit. I couln't start it again. However, I noticed there was fuel leaking out of the HS needle. There's the problem. How do you seal the HS needle without ruining the threads, do you just put a lil on the threads and screw er back in? Just as an FYI the backplate is also leaking :/ Like a sieve. Gotta order some sealand xD
RE: Volcano S30 no tension on pull start
I use brake cleaner,it is one of the few products that leave no residue DOUG
ORIGINAL: hban398 They said not to use WD-40 to clean it. Said hobby shops may sell a degresser or something similiar that would help. If that doesn't work, to order a new one-way beaing (part #TS005). Also, when pulling the pull start slowly, you should hearing the engine turn over a few times. When pulling it fast, it may turn over only once or not at all. This is what RedCat told me means that its the one-way bearing for sure. May have some time tonight. I will post the results as soon as I have an answer.
RE: air bubbles in fuel line
Excellent post More then anything else these have been the problems with my RC's DOUG
ORIGINAL: AllAboutFunHobbies If all that worked out, then check your exhaust gasket isn't blown out or that the manifold screws are not loose. If that,s ok, then check the exhaust coupler to make sure it's not leaking, replace the factory Zip ties with the 1/8 or 1/16th wide black zip ties and pull them as tight as you can, if you haven't already done that. Check to make sure there's no tears in the exhaust coupler. More than likely one of those mentioned above is the problem.
RE: Swap out: 2 speed to 1 speed??
Won't work I got rid of all my 2 speeds on my cats and went the one speed route BTW-I run a HPI racing bells on them all DOUG
ORIGINAL: Mickstix Hey again!! Well, as some of your know, I've been tryin to get my 2 speed (Nitro Tornado) to work reliably, but it doesnt seem to matter what I do, it'll only reliably shift for a few minutes before it hangs in 2nd gear.. So, Im resorting to swapping out the 2speed tranny for a 1 speed unit I have.. My question is about the cluthbell/pinion though.. Has anyone tried running the 2 speed cluthbell with the single speed tranny? Just wondering if it'll work? I have the single bell as well, but just checking on my options.. The ''tooth/gear'' ratio specs for the 2 speed are: Pinion=21/16 Spur= 47/42 and the Single speed is: Pinion=16 Spur= 44.. Thanks!!
