Meloman, have you even read the replies to your previous post? There was a lot of really helpful information there about all your parts. Con244

RE: Damaged?? zx10 opinion needed
The scratches on the board certainly indicate that the unit is not brand new. Sometimes electronic boards are reworked after manufacture to repair or replace faulty components. There are definately some solder rework scorches on some of the component's solder pads. Of course this may have been done before the unit left the factory or in some cases by sub contractors before sale. Personally, if that board was sold to you as new I would return it and ask for a refund due to the scratches which may be deep enough to break the circuit. Good Luck Con

Hi I am fairly new too, but I seem to recall someone posting that you shouldn't run your motor on the bench unloaded. I think the result of doing this is exactly what happened to yours. I could be wrong, could anyone else confirm this? Con244

RE: Need help identifying and programming this ESC
Looks like a Towerpro 18A ESC. The connector you are talking about is actually a jumper that determines whether the ESC is used with Lipos or NiMh batteries. With the jumper on use lipos and with it off as photographed use NiMh. I suspect that your foamy runs on NiMH batteries. Hope that was useful and welcome to electric flight. This is just the start of a fairly steep learning curve for you. I have been at it now for almost 12 months and I still learn something new almost every day. Cheers Con

RE: Electrafun XP Review/Thread!
I've got 2s 1050 lipo packs. There's plenty of room for bigger packs but the motor (FC 28-05 Brushless Outrunner 2840Kv) is only good for 7.4V. I think I'll just add a bit of weight at the front to even it up. I bit of extra weight isn't going to affect my flying skills. At my level, who knows, might even help it a bit ! Good to know there's other places in Australia that are cooking at the moment Jaav, we've got 40C forecast today here in Adelaide. Thanks guys Con

RE: Electrafun XP Review/Thread!
Thanks Guys. With the outrunner fitted externally it is a bit tail heavy. Any suggestions as to how to even it up? I could just add some weights to the front but would be interested in any other ideas. I've got some new wheels which I know aren't strictly necessary but they will add some weight forward that will be functional but I can't see how anything else will work short of trimming the rudder and elevator control surfaces. Cheers Con

Thanks Jaav, When I get that set up right it'll probably make a lot of difference. Can't believe that I forgot to check it. Is that measurement in the manual? I guess if you buy a ready made XP the cg should be about right, Con

Hi guys, I have a quick question for you, Where exactly should the cg be for the XP? It occurred to me the other day after I went out and had a major crash that I hadn't checked my cg position. With all the mods I've done that should have been the first thing I checked B4 even leaving the house! Cheers Con

RE: should expo be used on 1st time trainer?
Hi GoldOlds1, I think that expo is a real good thing to use especially when you are a beginner. It can help smooth out your flight so that if you move the sticks to fast or too much you will only get a down tuned response. I am still only a novice and on some days I have tried flying without expo and the flight is very eratic compared to when the expo is on. I would stick with it until you feel comfortable with the controls and then gradually reduce the amout of expo. BTW I started withabout a 70% expo on rudder and elevator. Cheers Con

RE: Electrafun XP Review/Thread!
Hi Jewfish Card foam is used by picture framers as matts around the pictures. It has a paper covering on each side which can be removed by soaking in water and a fairly hi density foam in the center. It is about 5.5 mm thick including the covering. I think for small parts it is light enough to use without removing the paper and it certainly stays straighter and stronger with the paper on. Oh, I just discovered that tis stuff is actually called foam board. Here's a shortcut to a supplier http://www.artblah.com/form-board. I have also added some photos of the new elevator and rudder. I think repropping will suit me ok for now as I have to buy some new ones anyhow Cheers Con

RE: Electrafun XP Review/Thread!
Hi Jewfish, yep it is the 2840kV motor and it does go a bit fast at the moment. I haven't been flying long enough to have the reflexes to cope with that speed. Do you think a 5 inch prop will slow it down fo me? I spent some time this morning remaking the tail and elevator. I used cardfoam ( left the covering on) and also changed the profiles for bigger control surfaces. I did reuse all the plastic bits and the shaft is back where it should be, just need to check the CG and adjust the servos to the correct length. Hopefully all will be ready for next weekend Cheers Con

RE: Electrafun XP Review/Thread!
Thanks Jaav, my XP has been built up from spares. I used HXT 900 servos, FC2805 outrunner fitted externally with Rhino 1050 2S 20C Lipos through a Hobbyking SS 25-30 amp ESC. I had a 6 x 4 prop on it but that went to heaven as well. I am only a novice flyer and have only flown a Slowstick before. With the combo on the XP its seems a little fast for me at the moment especially with all the trees around my field but I think I'll get used to it. Thanks again for the info, of course that crash had to happen on the best weekend for flying for ages so I'm going to miss it but there more coming, Regards Con

RE: Electrafun XP Review/Thread!
Hi Guys, I have question about a repair that I think you may be able to help me with. I managed to spear my Xp into the ground today and the damage extensive. The elevator and the rudder separated from the fuselage/shaft (in pieces). The elevator and rudder I will replace with home made ones so they are not a problem. The shaft, where it goes into the body also came loose and the pushrods tore through the first inch or so of the shaft. I have managed to get the pushrods back into the shaft and the shaft back into the notch created by the body. Ther tailshaft is not exactly aligned with the body and I'm not sure it ever was. Just how important is that shaft to body alignment? How do I fix the shaft back in place? It looks like it was probably just hot glued in place to start with but is this strong enough to do the job? Is epoxy a better choice? Thanks for any replies in advance Con

RE: Electrafun XP Review/Thread!
Thanks Jewfish, foam board is like a high density polystryrene sheet with a layer of thin cardboard on each side. I get mine from as mate who is a picture framer. He uses it to make matts to go around the picture. I get the cut off pieces. Typically I think it is used in modelling with the paper removed. I haven't actually tried it yet but it does have the same consistency of the materials used on the rudder and tail plane. I am using a GWS EP7035 prop with my outrunner. Hopefully that should be ok. I just a couple laying around so they got balanced and fitted. Cheers Con
