RE: Walkera 22E Lets Talk
TY Cenracer, I did do a helicopter tour over New York City once!! Years ago. The heli they used to emergency lift me was pretty smooth though. we went through a mountain pass and they said it might get bumpy but even that was pretty mild. So it was a good flight, LOL. It had a crew of 3. Pilot, co- pilot and the one that stayed in the back / center of the heli with us. I can hardley wait to see the bill!!. I heard the bike damage was $16,000. it will be awhile untill this whole thing is done. Oh, and I'm not flying my heli's while high on pain killers, no need for another accident, LOL. JD

I got to fly in a emergency response helicopter October 2. Unfortunatly I had to crash my motorcycle to get the ride. And I couldn't look out the windows from my streacher, darn. But I am okay except for 3 broken ribs and some bumps. jd

RE: Walkera 22E Lets Talk
bird dog, Most of us switch to Deans connectors. Most Lipo's come with deans or nothing. I would switch to deans, and yes just cut off the old ones and put on new ones if you have a soldering iron and some shrink tubing. As long as your ordering batteries I would get 2 or 3 so you don't have to wait to recharge and save some shipping money. the lowest C rating should be 10 continuous. Some come with as high as 20c in 1000 mah. The higher the better. I think I have seen them for around $10-$15 each on ebay. Try for something between 800 and 1000mah. 1200 starts to get a little heavy I think. JD

When the battery gets hot it's charged. I aim for pretty warm. Normally it should only take 1 hour to charge. If you keep charging until it's to hot to hold you probably damaged the battery and it probably won't hold a charge. Good Luck. JD

Im not sure hairy if the battery can affect it. I think its more the motors and esc that would affect it and send out RF.

RE: Walkera 22E Lets Talk
I think for the most part this heli should be flown stock. it does loops and stuff fine. Not that improvements cant be made. But for the cost of the improvements I think it makes more sense to move to a differnt heli like the honeybee King II that has it's tail rotor driven by the main motor. there are a few out there in the couple hundred dollar range the same cost as the metal head and brushless conversion, etc as you try to make the 22e even better. The ones in the next level up you can get with all that stuff and their frame is stiffer to hold the extra weight. As you add more and more you keep pushing the envelpe of each succesive componet on the heli. Here's my opinion... I have done all these type of upgrades on a 22e ... brushess main and tail motors, alloy head, bigger batteries, more powerful servos, and carbon fiber blades. It does fly better and more extreme, but now I fly all my 22e's stock except those fake carbon blades and LOSB balls to fix the plastic balls when they break off. In stock form they last longer, don't hit as hard or over power their sevos as much. Those stock servos get pretty beat up if your cranking all those new G forces on your souped up 22e. I fly my other helis next if I want to get more extreme, and I just don't like warming up on my more expensive helis especially if I havent flown in awhile. Obviously if getting the $250 for the next level up isnt an option then adding to the 22e over time will be fun and you will get a performance gain. If you have all the money together to do all the upgrades at once then I'm just trying to give you the benifit of my mistake cause I did the 22e improvements but when I bought the next level up for the same money as the 22e improvements the new heli flew much better than the improved 22e. I think I saw a video of it doing 3d on the Venom site - night ranger 3D (same as 22e, I have one as well as a 22e and eagle 50) From the venom site you have to go to the flight part of the site. JD

I have flown it inverted out of the box. But I start up high in the air, LOL. Sorta doing a loop but then just stop and hold it inverted in forward flight for a few seconds at the top of the loop. I'm not good at inverted. JD

RE: Walkera 22E Lets Talk
Heliaction, Its a tough call maybe. I have flown them heavy and I don't like their handling. mainly they drop out of the sky faster and tend to land to hard and break their skids. in just a hover 3 to 5 feet yes it might be more stable if they are in wind but I find that is easier and better to overcome with more head speed - or carbon blades. then there is the super skid solution which might counteract one of my main concerns - breaking skids with any extra weight. I have only flown them with stock motor when they are heavy. I don't even suggest using weight to balance them perfectly because of the handling. I also think they handle better being that smiggin of tail heavyness that they start out with when stock. So my final word is if you have stock skids keep it light. If your to the point that you zoom up and down, keep it light, if you sig and zag keep it light. Oh and beginners zig, zag and zoom up and down and land hard by accident so I think they should keep it light and stay out of wind. and if you crash you will wish it was lighter, heavier heli's crash harder and break more stuff in my experience. As with everyone else here, this is my opinion and there will be other opinions. I give the advice I think is right and it is based on experience of having flown them heavy and light. I hope it doesnt confuse beginners that are looking for a one best answer and get different opinions, I tried to give my reasons so they can think about their flight risk. The most benificial thing when your heavy is stability in wind, but I think there are two many down sides to the weight. this heli is tender. JD

if you search for Losb 1051 they will come up, most heli stores have them. ehobbyhouse has them. they are part number LOSB 1051. These are the ones with the screw in shaft (stud) on the ball perfect for our 22e's/eagle 50/ venom night ranger 3d. JD

RE: Walkera 22E Lets Talk
I think the heli flies best light, and I think the carbon blades even the fake ones are good upgrades. The carbon blades seem to produce more lift and and quicker lift response which comes in handy if your about to crash or land to hard, that also plays into my reason for likeing the bird light. No more than a 1000 mah battery. And yes those Losb balls are the best of all. once your little balls snap off the head/blade holders and you replace them by drilling a hole and screwing in the losb balls you almost never break them again and they last forever. DC, After its bound the first time, and then your flying the next day, can you turn on the TX first then The rX(heli). Or do you have to rebind it every time you fly the heli turning on the RX first then The TX? thank you, JD

Hi Heliaction, I got my new Eagle 50 yesterday and charged up the batteries. It looks good. I hope to try it out tonight. Main gear seems a little tight but I will spin it up and see if it heats up the motor in after a minute of flight or so. I think once the new 2.4 ghz TX is bound To the RX you turn on the TX first then the heli. I know to bind it you turn the heli on first then the TX. I didnt notice a binding button like on the DX7 but I didnt look to hard. see ya, Jd

I'm not sure if I will upgrade my other 22e's but if you know the part numbers I would need please post them so I can check out the pricing (or if you know a good deal). I guess the new Eagle Xceed TX is able to be bound to additional RX's, or if you just get the RX can you bind it to any 2.4 ghz TX like the DX7? Jd
