RE: Problem with Corona RP6D1 Synthesized RX
Reading the reviews, looks like a lot of people with Futaba 6ch TX's have problems with this particular receiver. I have had other crystal based corona receivers and they work perfectly, just this model seem to have a problem. I have e-mailed corona, so far no response.

Problem with Corona RP6D1 Synthesized RX
I am using it with a Futaba 6XAs I had some issues getting it to even lock to my transmitter. Then when it did lock, it had lots of glitches. Found that if I pegged channels 5 and 6 all the way over or use a 4ch TX it works fine, but what's the point of a 6ch receiver where you can only use 4 channels? Any ideas?

RE: RAF SE5 Maiden Flight
Yeah, my 12V starter doesn't have enough grunt to spin it and my cordless drill dosn't spin fast enough to get the magneto to spark. Besides, using a pull cord has the advantage of keeping me behind the prop at all times.

RAF SE5 Maiden Flight
Once I got the speed up and the plane trimmed out she flew pretty well. My scratch built wheels didn't hold up though. No damage, just have to get something stronger for my spokes. www.youtube.com/watch

Just finished up my SE 5, Here is the maiden flight. www.youtube.com/watch Unfortunatly, my scratch built wheels were not up to the challenge. No damage to the plane. As soon as I find some stronger spokes she will be back in the air.

I just dropped a Trinity Cobalt 2 9 turn double in my RC10T. I had to change the pinion from 18 teeth to 15 teeth to slow it down and give it a little more torque. But she is still pretty fast. RE: ........."BELT-CP THREAD"........
Just an update on my earlier query. I had a chance to get into a larger open space than my living room and got the belt into a full hover rather than just barely off the ground. It read a peak of 10.97Amps The other issue I had, the flybar control arm was not parallel to the paddles. I fixed that and everything moves clear now. I just got done with the DTS (Direct to Swash) mod. Turned out great. No more slop in the linkages.

The "Watts Up" meter is the one I have. It's a little on the expensive side, but absolutely invaluable when you start messing around with stuff.

RE: ........."BELT-CP THREAD"........
With the extra weight of the watt meter on board, it pulls almost exactly 8 amps to get just barely off the ground. This is with Align 315 carbons. (not the full carbon fibre, the plastic with a carbon rod in it)

I have a watt meter. I can measure exactly what my draw is. My question was to find out what is "normal" to make sure I don't have anything too tight that is causing an extra load. Is 8.6A normal?

Has anyone had issue with the flybar control arms rubbing against the pitch control arms? Also, What is normal for amp draw to hover with a completely stock setup?

RE: Insight build...another wood roach.
I'm really glad that you like it. I figured most hard core pattern guys would frown on their plans getting made into a spad. Making a spad pentahalon would be MUCH harder, but not impossible. The Insight with all of it's hard angles made it a very easy plane to spad. The canopy and the cowel on the pentathalon would be very difficult. Sometime in the future I might consider spadding a voodoo though.[;)]

Here is my Insight. Scaled for a .46 with a 58" wingspan. It is built spad style using mostly Coroplast and Fan Fold Foam. RE: Comments/suggestions requested for design
I've only designed from scratch a couple foamys. Scratch built from measurements of a PT40 a 40" span foamy trainer. Scratch built from 3 views a 35" span ultimate biplane and a 20% spitfire. Scratch built from plans a profile edge 540. I have most recently been flying the previously mentioned spitfire and edge. As far a pattern experience, I flew a Hobbico Spectrum and GWS formosa for a couple of years. I am building this for personal use, not as a design to market or to use in competition, but that doesn't mean I don't want it to be a good design.

I decided to design my own pattern plane for a scratch build. While I have ogled many a pattern plane and generally know what they should look like, I don't specifically know what makes a good design. Here is what I have so far.

RE: Straw and plastic wrap airplanes
OK folks... Thanks for ALL the help. I posted in this forum because as I stated, I originally saw the plane in MA and I know most of the guys in this section of RCU have been around a long time and might just have some insights. I should have known you would find a way to turn it into an argument. In case anyone else is interested... The plane in question is called Mama Bear. It is 82" span, 2 cell lipo powered plane with an AUW of ~2lbs. His website is [link=http://flyingpuppets.org]FlyingPuppets[/link]. Unfortunately he was unwilling to provide me with any detailed information without first purchasing his online book...

RE: ........."BELT-CP THREAD"........
I actually thought up this method and used it, works great. Had one socket that was bigger than the bearing, but small enough to touch the aluminum ring on the side that the bearing is sticking out of (top of the gear when it is on the heli), then another socket just barely smaller than the bearing on the other and put it in a bench vice. Small socket presses the bearing out of the gear and into the bigger socket. Easy. Then use the bench vice to press the bearing into the new gear. I did have one problem though. Only the top gear was broken, so I was going to reuse the bottom gear... Well, the plastic part of the top gear that goes into the bottom gear was slightly bigger on the new gear. So when I put the new top gear into the old bottom gear, the plastic rubbed. Used the new bottom gear and it fits perfectly.
