Royal "THERMALON" prepainted fabric covering
Many of you fellow senior RC GUYS recognize the Royal name. They have been gone for quite awhile now. One of the products they marketed was the subject material. At my clubs 2008 auction I bought six 38" x 15' rolls of this material for $50. Yes, at that price I figured I did STEAL it. Only problem is I can't get the danged stuff to stick to balsa no matter what I do. Varying the 300 degree application temp made no differance on raw balsa. Preping the balsa with with Balsarite or even Stix-it did not help. In each case it was like pulling off a Stickynote, just a little more sticky. Any of you fellas' got any suggestions?. Thanks in advance for your help. Dick.

RE: HELP, need plans
OKAY, OKAY, you convinced me, no more talk about paying you. I'll shaddup. But Next time I help a fellow builder I'll let him know its because of your kindness. Now THAT you're just going to have to live with. BTW, is that your Aeromaster shown in your site photo? If so you have doctored the tail feathers some. What engine are you useing? I am leaning toward a G-62 or DA50/DL50. I need to stay on the upper end of the power curve because of the mile high altitude we fly at here in Denver. The altitude reduces power by 20%- 30%. No flying today, to cold and windy. Head for the hanger(basement) and start the second wing on the 72" WS biplane I am now building. It is Chuck Cunninghams "Tequila" that he designed about 30 years ago. I would not have started it if I some how knew I was going to find the Aeromaster at our annual club auction. They are very much alike. Have a great day. Dick

GB Thanks again for your efforts. You may be in for a rude surprise when you add up copying cost(if Kinko can handle it) and shipping. I am guessing it will be $15.00, +/-. I must insist on covering your cost exceeding...oh what's a fair number?... 50 cents sounds about right. About the price of a postage stamp pretty soon. Again no rush. Have a great day. Dick

RE: HELP, need plans
Mr. Boulton. Thank you for your response. I will mention again that I need only the lower wing plan , I am guessing that is on half a sheet. Kinkos does have a sheet size limit but if they could copy just the half sheet with the lower wing plan I believe that would be within their size limit. There is no rush on this need, I have several other projects in line. Please, I could not accept your paying for copying and shipping if this works out. Keep me posted. Again, thank you for your effort. Dick Laubach

RE: HELP, need plans
LairdSS Thanks for your reply. I should have been more specific in my post. What I have is the Giant Aeromaster KIT...you know, a big box of balsa sticks, sheets, formers, ribs, blocks in funny shapes and a good amount of plywood in different shapes and thicknesses and other "STUFF" that when glued and screwed together per the 876 page instruction "BOOKLET" and 192 SQ.FT. of plans, will result in one great biplane. Yes, I am one of the dinosours that still builds from kits and even just PLANS. Okay, all joking aside. I purchased this kit last weekend at our annual club auction for $65. The plans had been cut up into building sub assemblies. That part of the plans showing the lower wing construction is missing. THAT SECTION OF THE CONSTRUCTION PLANS IS WHAT I AM IN NEED OF. I know I can buy the plans from Great Planes but that would run $30 with shipping because you have to buy the complete plan set. I figure there is a builder out there from whom I can buy the plan or a copy of for ten bucks or so. In my retirement I am watching my bucks(so's the wife). Your referel to the Atomic site was an eye opener. If I were looking for the lower wing for an Aeromaster ARF this would be the place to go. I will add Atomic to my list of places to look for "STUFF" Dick

Dave Received the engines today, they look and feel just dandy. Gotta finish up one project and then take a drive down past your stamping grounds to S.D. to see the zoos and the Midway. Going to put the 3000 in a Big Bee I just finished. The 2300 I have in it does not cut it. I'll let you know how it works out. Regards, Dick.

Dave, you are a most astounding individual. I won't say more because the more you do for all us guys who need your kind of expertise the more you are going to hear it. Just accept it. My fear is you have opened Pandoras box. In a couple of months we may hear that you changed your name, moved and left no forwarding address in order to escape all us dumb thumbers with bent cranks. DON'T ANYONE SAY ANYTHING ABOUT NON ENGINE BENT CRANKS. Seriously my friend, thank you so much. And give me a total on the parts. Dick

Dave. Re. your comment about the 3250 you were just finishing up. I suspect that may be mine and yes it was in a hellava wreck. Had just bought it on e-bay and mounted it on my 18lb. Ultra Hots to replace the 3000 I had on it(same 3000 I finally found the backplate for DUH!). There was a notable differance in power. I was on my downwind leg when I no longer had control and straight in went the hots. That broke one of the lugs off and split open the crankcase. Postmortem: Transmitter battery died. After the plane went in I looked down at my tranny and the needle was on its way down to zero. If I had another minute I would have been on the ground rather than in it. Dick

Dave Thats good news on the 3000. These ST's are TOUGH. I put that engine in the ground 3 or 4 times. How is the 3250. If it should need bearings let me know and I will order them from Boca and have them sent to you. Thanks for what you are doing for the RC flyers. Dick.

Century VII xmtr
I am still using my CenturyVII purchased in '83. Got another a few years ago. Got another over the weekend at a garage sale for ten bucks. Not beat up, no broken switches but battery has been cut out and I can't find the ends to add a connector so no power. I may tell you more than you need to know but here goes. * Transmitter has Las Vegas address for Circus printed onthe front panel. *Module has Reno address on it. * Freq. stcker on module says 72.960mhz. * Crystal mounted in module is labeled 72.550mhz * Module model is NET-J72M. * No "FM" printed in center of module label. * No gold sticker. No problem resolving the power problem but what do I have here and can it be made operable as far as FM operation is concerned? Thanks in advance for your help.

Century VII rcvr. crystal
Hi Danny I am still flying(like today) my original Century VII radio that is now 20 plus years old. This radio is on ch42. I fly with a Hitec RCD rcvr as I have long since demolished the original ABC&W rcvr. I recently purchased a Century VII xmtr and ABC&W rcvr. on ch 56. As described the combo did not function. I swapped xmtr modules and the xmtr. worked fine with the RCD rcvr. I purchased a new ch56 rcvr crystal AND a ch 42 crystal. ABC&W rcvr still does not function. Both these crystals are in a GREY casing. I mention the case color because I have just been told that I need a BLACK cased crystal. As so often occurs,I am lost in a GREY area. HELP. And thanks in advance. Dick L.

Randy Go to www.bobdivelymodels.com and you will see he has a great 80" Pitts. He is moving his production facility so it will be a few months before product is going out the door. I found one of these kits for a friend of mine on E-bay and he bought it. I havent seen it but he says it is a high quality product. Good luck and good flying. Dick L.

Ziroli stuka engine options
I am about to start construction of Zirolis stuka and it would seem I am going to have to decide on and buy my engine now in order to properly set the engine box. It would seem the engine of choice is the G62, the only drawback being having to cut the cowl for the carb. With all the newer engines that are available i"m sure some are being used in the stuka. I sure would appreciate hearing from those that have or are using other engines and their experiance with them Thanks in advance. Dick.

Turbo Agcat
In 1993 I ordered a brochure from Koehler Aero Lab in Durham CA. They had run an add somewhere for their Turbo Agcat kit, a 100" giant in the 25lb. category. At the time I just filed the info. Retired with more time now I tried to contact the company and Harold Koehler with no luck. Is anyone kitting this cat in this scale? Has anyone built this kit, what is your opinion of it? Anyone have a set of plans from this kit? Any info you can provide will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, Dick L.

RE: Coolest one yet.
Hope I am not to late to provide some more info to those you interested in Loving,s Love. Indeed a most unique and beautiful airplane. The full scale Love was designed and flown by Neal V. Loving who wrote a book titled "Loving's Love... a black americans experience in aviation" published by the Smithsonian Institution Press. These days I'm sure it can be found on the Net. I too first saw pics of this model in I believe MAN back in the early 90's. I managed to locate the designer/builder, Mr. David Abel of Florissant, MO. I contacted him to see if plans were available. He was working on them and they would be available some time in the future. In March of '94 I recieved a set of Daves plans, all 114 square feet on seven sheets...a work of art but not extremely detailed. I admit I feel somewhat intimidated by the fabricating and building skills that this project would require so other(easier) construction keeps moving up the list. There are no building instructions with the plans In '94 Dave's address was 2125 Cottontail Dr., Florissant, MO63033. His phone number was (314)921-3482. Dave charged me $35.00 for the plans shipped, I'm sure it would be much more today. I have no idea if Dave is still selling plans for the Love. If you can't reach Dave I will provide a set of the plans for the cost of copying and shipping, I would guess about $70.00. Dick L.
