RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat
I have 20cc Zenoahs in mine and initialy tried a Twin Sync but i could not isolate RF problems so i gave up on it. I put a Rate Gyro on the Rudder and any difference in RPM is not such an issue. Cheers Wayne

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat
Hi There,, I still can't figure out why,,, as previously posted,,, all you guys are not using Twin Sync!?? www.rcshowcase.com/html/accessories/twinsync.html This surely would have saved most of the deceased Tigercats on this thread.. With all the money spent on these aircraft the extra $100 seems like money well spent. Having a engine failure flying a twin is only a matter of time and your aircraft WILL in many cases die...... Your thoughts please.. Cheers wayne

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat
SORRY to hear of your loss on T2 Vkerster,,,but congratulations for giving it a go and being a Pioneer for this project,,,happier flying with your future aircraft. Richard you are flying your Tiger like you stole it!! I also am fitting Zenoah g20 ei and using twin sync. Richard can you please provide a picture of your carb mod (balance tube) and also details of how you set the mixture on the g20s. I am maybe half way with this project,,assembly when time permits. I hope it comes out on the lighter side,,i have used Carbon wing tubes from PBG Composites and will make the outer wing panels removable. Cheers Wayne

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat
Hi VKerster,, Please excuse my ignorance if this is the case but my understanding was that the Gen 5 retracts are air up and air down,,where as the gen 4 are air up and spring down. Cheers..

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat
Hi further to tip stall,,, This is a Tip Stall on take off.. The tail wheel is never lifted during the takeoff roll and the angle of attack is too high. The Aircraft is taken airborne to soon without sufficient airspeed and the left wing is not flying. www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlVpnCJAIkw&feature=related

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat
Hi there,, As previously posted a Twin Sync device is available to prevent the "Death Roll" if one engine fails. This units main function is to instantly bring the good engine to idle incase of engine failure. When this occurs, bringing the throttle stick to idle will resume control of the good engine. See www.rcshowcase.com for more details,,,I think sounds the goods for any Twin..and may save our Tigers..

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat
HI RICHARD,, Did you use the standard retracts?? I see you used lightweight wheels on the mains..Good idea!! Did you retain the standard power hungry e ignition? If so what batts you use? I am going to get some Carbon wing tubes as the alu ones seem like a major overkill! Good luck with future sorties.. WWW

RE: KMP F-7F Tigercat
Hi Richard, Found these figures from a review on the g20ei @ www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?p=5765303 Good luck with your flight RPM & Static Thrust PROP WOT RPM IDLE RPM STATIC THRUST (calculated) APC 15X6 9360 2000 13.34 lbs APC 16X6 8530 2000 14.3411 lbs. APC 16X10 7350 2000 10.65 lbs. Zinger 15X6-10 8690 2000 10.85 lbs Zinger 16X8 7430 2000 10.27 lbs MA 16X6 8130 2000 12.29 lbs. Idle speed was adjusted to the recommended 2000 rpm on each prop run. I used a static thrust program that computes thrust based on prop size, air density and RPM.
