RE: Tuned Pipe Coupler
Silicone pipe coupler have a limited lifespan because of high temperature and the pulsing during operation, the rear rubber fastener serve only to isolate from vibrations and is not stressed as much temperature wise being in the airflow. Unless you use very high nitro content like in some racing applications it should last a season, after a long storage it is a good idea to replace the coupler even if it look OK!

RE: FRSky 2.4 GHz conversion for JR
The FrSky system is very good and reliable, here is an older review of the original system which has now been improved a lot with full telemetry: http://www.rcmodelreviews.com/reviews.shtml The good thing is that it is available directly in the US from Aloft Hobbies: http://www.alofthobbies.com/radio-gear/frsky-telemetry-system.html The plug-in module uses ppm from the Tx so it provide only 8 channels!

Smaller and a lot cheaper too[;)] And for small electric planes a switch to 2.4 Ghz band might be a good idea(less problems than FM with electric noises!)with a after market Futaba compatible module like FrSky. The original FP-R128DF was huge and heavy!

RE: K&B Boat engine
Bigger than a Picco P80(I have one too)would have to be the K&B .91 from the early 90's with the old style carb. The crankcase and front end are one piece unlike the old K&B .45. Apicture would be most helpfull to identify it. The good thing with K&B is the ease of finding spare, unlike Picco,Rossi,OPS and OS!

RE: HELP ME... NEED HELP WITH OPS 40 ROTARY VALVE TIMING
The two slots on the disk are to set for CW or CCW rotation. The intake window of the disk should be open when the piston is on its way up(start to open when you rotate the crankshaft in the direction you want to run). The back plate can go in 4 different positions but only 2 will give proper timing depending on which slot you use on the disk. Some details in that RCG post: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=12462120&postcount=25 That 31" mono will be a rocket with that engine[;)]

RE: Total N00b to RC trucks.. I need a remote!
ORIGINAL: VeeDaub  So I've always wanted to get an electric RC truck and I decided that before I rush into it I would play with some cheap stuff first. So I picked up this super retro Radio Shack Monster Patrol from the Salvation Army for 6 bucks and I have an old remote from a similar Radio Shack RC truck from when I was younger that I'm hoping to match up. Both are 27MHz but I really don't know much else about matching them together. The truck still needs a 7.2v Ni-Cd battery for the motor, a standard 9V battery for the reciever, and 6 AA batteries for the transmitter stated by the info I've found on the Radio Shack site. So would it be worth it getting those batteries for the truck or going ahead and buying a new transmitter/receiver kit with a new 7.2v Li-Po battery pack?
The radio shack Tx/Rx combo is most likelly not hobby grade and 27Mhz AM. If the receiver is integrated (Rx,esc and servo)it might only work with its stock transmitter since those kind of cars are sold complete and not really compatible with regular hobby 27Mhz Tx. $ 6.00 was cheap but it might cost you a lot to bring it in running condition. Zor is right about posting your question in the car forum to get relevant answer,r/c car drivers like to experiment a lot!

RE: clutch for nitro boat
rcbum So it is just the engine being tight (which will improve after a few runs). 1/4 inch cable is a bit of an overkill for an ASP .46 as that is what is used with .80/.90 racing glow engines or gasoline 23cc and above. I assume you are using a teflon liner for the cable or a brass tubing 9/32 ID. Also leave a good gap between the drive dog and strut as the cable get shorter when running under load. Another poster in Brazil mentioned that the ASP .46 is hard to turn over when starting. The Hobbico-90 starter should be up to the task when using a car battery anyway. Could you post a few pictures of your boat?

RE: clutch for nitro boat
Is the drive line well aligned, and are you using a flex cable or rigid shaft? ABC engines are harder to turn over because of the TDC pinch and requires a good starter and battery specially if .45 or bigger. It is common to loosen the plug on .67/.90 for start-up even when using an adequate starter. If there is any binding in the drive line, the engine won't run for long, the clutch would be the first thing to go south!
