RE: 1/8 hsp crawler 4 wheel steer
You have a 3 channel radio, correct? If you don't, your rear steering won't work without a servo y-harness. In general for these the front servo should be plugged into ch1 on the receiver, the ESC plugged into ch2, and the rear servo into ch3. Nothing needs to plug into ch4. If you're having rear steer problems only, plug that servo into ch1. If it starts working, you may have an issue with the receiver. If it still doesn't work, you likely have a bad servo.

You can simply change out and replace that spur gear. It arrived back FROM Redcat with a worn spur gear though? PM or email me your shipping address and I'll get you a stock replacement spur gear sent in the mail, no charge. Thanks!

RE: Redcat-what's the deal?
Actually, The Ground Pounder was fully designed by us in a partnership to be released as a Redcat product. Redcat has 100% exclusivity to this design. There are many minor differences between newer Redcat products and other brands offering similar vehicles. These differences can be plastic compounds, chassis/suspension design, electronics, etc. It's true that not all the new vehicles are designed in full by Redcat (yet), but each vehicle is reviewed in prototype form and requested improvements are then relayed to the factory prior to production starting. These changes are typically exclusive to Redcat as others have mentioned. The RS10-XT crawler is a good example of this.

Amsoil Shock Therapy & Cult Energy Replica MT Bodies!
We just received our shipment of Amsoil Shock Therapy and Cult Energy Activator bodies this morning! These officially licensed bodies are replicas of the full-size monsters you've seen running on SPEED TV or at Monster Jam events around the country. Each body is a direct replacement for the stock Ground Pounder body, and will also fit on many other Redcat models you have. Best of all, for each body purchased a portion of the sale will go directly to the Sudden Impact Racing team to allow them to continue running their full-size monsters! Note: You will need to fully trim the body and apply the decals (included) for your specific application. Bodies pictured are fully trimmed and decaled for illustration only. Ground Pounder wins World Championship!
In its first appearance, the Redcat Racing Ground Pounder R/C captures its first World Championship! Driven by Crawford Performance Engineering team driver Matt Stoltz, his Ground Pounder was able to tackle the competition and finish with a victory in the 4WD Box Stock Monster Truck class at the 22nd annual NR/CPTA World Championships held October 9-10th. The 4WD Box Stock class is a perfect example of a “buy on Sunday, race on Sunday type class. The Ground Pounder showed off its advanced chassis and suspension design and allows a person the ideal entry-level platform into the world of R/C monster truck racing events. You can purchase your Redcat Ground Pounder R/C from Crawford Performance Engineering directly, or through any of Redcat's dealers across the country! RE: Wheel extensions! Bad for truck?
Wheel extensions will make your steering servo work harder, not necessarily your motor (unless you're increasing tire size also). They will also place stress on your outer axle shafts and your hubs. Whatever extensions you purchase should come with some kind of barrel nut that allows you to fasten them down on the existing axle. You wouldn't need longer dogbones, as you're extending the wheel only. The hub will remain in the same position, which is why there's now more stress placed on it as the wheel will be hung farther away from it.

RE: earthquake 8E Help!!
Without seeing the truck, I'd guess you've either stripped the spur gear or had the pinion move so the setscrew is hitting the spur gear. The motor is sealed, so it wouldn't be that. Can you post a photo of the pinion/spur gear as it sits in your truck right now?

RE: Can you make a 4X4 have positraction?
It is possible. What R/C do you have? Doing so will increase your turning radius and add more stress to your axles though. Crawlers are set up with locked differentials, and you can modify other vehicles to have a similar setup.

Redcat RS10 BTA Mod
We initially planned this as an aftermarket upgrade, but we were able to use nearly all of the stock RS10 parts to create a BTA (behind-the-axle) install for the RS10. This will work with most shock setups, and worst-case is you may need to slightly modify the tie-rod for clearance around the lower link. Additional pics and information is available here: [link=http://www.crawfordperformanceengineering.com/cpebta2-redcat-rs10-steering-install-guide-p-239.html] RS10 BTA Installation[/link] [image]http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y91/crawfordcollectibles/IMG_3412.jpg[/image] [image]http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y91/crawfordcollectibles/IMG_3414.jpg[/image]

RE: Redcat Racing 1/10 Ground Pounder
[quote]ORIGINAL: The Mad Modder Stock, the Clod isn't the highest performance truck, after all it was designed in the 80's. However the Clod has one of the largest aftermarket following of any RC truck. You'd be hard pressed to beat a clod with 4 links and oil shocks with the ground pounder. [/quote] That's absolutely correct. A modified Clodbuster set up using our Terminator chassis and suspension will have more performance than a stock Ground Pounder will. It will also carry a $1000+ price tag if you go with top of the line everything on the Clod. If you take a stock Ground Pounder against a heavily modded Clod, given equal driving abilities the Clod will win. If the driver running the Clod makes a few mistakes, there's every chance that it could be beaten by someone with a stock Ground Pounder. Our goal when designing the Ground Pounder was to give people a low-cost alternative to getting a quality solid-axle monster truck kit. Telling someone that the cool looking R/C monster truck on display will cost them $1000 is a good way to see how fast people will run from it. Telling them it's $250 and everything is included will keep their attention longer. Having the trucks sitting in front of the full-size Ground Pounder isn't going to hurt sales either...

Yes it does. Here's a shot looking at the bottom of the chassis. You can see the upper & lower anodized aluminum suspension links. The chassis also has the same up/down link mounting adjustment points that are on the full-size trucks. [image]http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/reviews/1195/19.jpg[/image]

RE: Redcat Racing 1/10 Ground Pounder
No problem with the questions as that's what I'm here for. #1: Mode #2 is know as "crab steer" on a full-size monster. This radio is the same one that's used on Redcat's crawlers, where this type of steering will allow the crawler to move more sideways rather than forward. It's a neat feature to show off with, but not one I use much on a monster truck. Rear wheel steering will give you a tighter turning radius that front wheel steering. Think of it as how a forklift steers. Front-wheel steering is what I'm used to, so that's the mode I typically use. The truck turns very well in 2WS and has about a 24" turning radius using 4WS. #2. Solid axles offer no performance advantage, but are scale in appearance. A solid axle will have advantages over a-arms when used as a crawler though as the solid axle won't conform to holes in the terrain as easy as an independent suspension would. #3 Tires are basically the standard monster truck chevron pattern with some slight differences. People have actually cut the nubs off the outer edges for less traction and to let the truck slide better while cornering. Note that any aftermarket tires made for the T/EMaxx wheels are a direct fit on the Ground Pounder wheels. #4 Rather than carrying a complete line of parts, these are the parts I thought would have a higher percentage of being broken. Any parts shown on our website are in stock and ready for immediate delivery. The website automatically removes them from view if we're out of stock on something. Hope I covered them all for you. Thanks!

RE: Redcat Racing 1/10 Ground Pounder
Redcat is based on Phoenix, AZ and the kits are manufactured in China. We have a large selection of parts that could ship today if you wanted them. Things like diffs, clutches, spur gears, shock mounts, etc. Redcat also carries a full selection of parts on their site for each of their vehicles. Best thing about the parts is they're sold individually rather than in trees and things like shock mounts or spur gears are only $2 for replacements.

RE: Redcat Racing 1/10 Ground Pounder
That's fine, not everyone understands what a scale monster truck is supposed to do. As far as selling one as a roller w/o electronics, it would actually be more cost-effective to simply sell the stock radio/receiver and ESC than it would be for these to be left out at the factory. The price wouldn't really go down all that much, and this way you can make $40-50 back on selling the stock electronics.

RE: Ground Pounder
This truck was designed with a 12mm drive hex, so Clod wheels can be fitted to this truck using the stock Clod drive hubs. Due to the smaller diameter of Clod wheels, you would need to change to a lower profile rod end at the steering knuckles for inner wheel clearance, but standard Traxxas or Dubro rod ends would work for that. Not sure on a black chassis as that made the truck look like the chassis was all plastic. I know other colors are being looked for future production runs. The initial run will be the blue anodized version pictured elsewhere.

Pretty light considering the chassis and suspension is all aluminum.

RE: The GroundPounder Coming In September
Current speed with a standard brushed 540 motor is a little over 20mph, which is pretty fast for a solid axle truck like this. Changes to the motor and pinion are easy and will gear this down for crawling.
