Hey any of you guys got an extra canopy for the red extra ? I trashed mine in a mid air collision and it seems EF is out of stock. Thanks

Joe what did you end up doing with the gear ? Did you bend it back or did you pony up th $$ for a new one ? Btw nice job it looks great. Also why is it that planes fly better after they are bashed up a bit ?

Sorry about the crash man, KE loops are no joke they can get ugly real quick. I bashed the snot out of mine and I was impressed with the strength of the gear mount, it can take a huge hit on the gear w/o much fuse damage at all. Glad to see your getting it back together. As far as the gear after I pretzeled mine I took some wood screws and screwed the gear down to my wood deck. Then I was able

He is the king of the RC bargin but this set up he has is rock solid. It basically looks exactly like a T-rex and flies just as well. It definately will out fly my 400.00 Blade 400 3D. You may think that his set up is cheap and nasty but he can huck the crap out of that thing, bash it into the ground and keep going. His helies have taken MAJOR MAJOR abuse and they hold up as good or better than helies that cost 4x as much. Freeair get you one of these and you will see.
ORIGINAL: craigteffe Guys starting on my elevators and i have a couple questions. The fiber horns that have the bottom cut off is for the rudder, am i right on this one? Which hole in the fiber arms are you guys using? I noticed that the fiber ends are hitting the stab at full deflection and the ball links rub between the fiber(binding) if using the hole closest to the surface is ths happening to you guys?? Any other tidbits that might help me out along the way??
Short ones are for the rudder I use the inner holes for my controls, it decreases servo resolution a bit but increases control deflection for 3D. I ground the outter holes down so they dont hit the stab. When hinging the elevators you need to be very careful with the inner most hinge. Epoxy can drip off the hinge hole on the TE of the stab onto the Phenolic tube that houses the CF tube. The epoxy can clog the tube making it nearly impossiable to get the CF rod inside. Check it while it is drying to make sure the tube guide is not getting glue in it.

My batteries are all mouted on foam with double sided sticky velcro then secured down with a velcro strap. You really cant be to careful with battery mounting it can cost you a plane is a microsecond. Be it the longest microsecond of your life as you watch your plane kamakazi into the deck NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Kersplat.

I am going to try to put some slow epoxy and mabye some fiberglass strips over the crack. Anyway scared the heck out if me cause I heard the "boom" when it broke. Landed with no problem though. Greg
Yeah with where most of us are with our flying skills it isn't the dumb thumb that gets ya, its the small details that you overlook trying to get you plane ready to fly at 11pm the night before. I always take these events as a chance to go over everything with a fine tooth comb and make sure there are no more suprises in store. Its crazy, a 50 cent piece of velcro almost cost you a 1500.00 airplane YIKES, glad you got it down okay.

Im guessing though that it will come in anywhere from 18-19lbs. Thanks for the info, Later
Sounds like you got it figured out. Your gonna love the Vess prop for 3D they are great, enjoy.

A 24 inch will be fine, those servos will be fine as well, as long as they are metal gear and 200 ounce torque or better but they are a bit slow.
ORIGINAL: 3high Hey all, I've got a 22/8 xoar on my EF extra and would like a little more vertical authority. Would a 22/10 help? I've got a DA50 and slimline pitts turning about 7300 with the 22/8. Thanks
Vess Props are killer for 3D. With your set up you would want to consider a Vess 22A , 22B or 23A The 23B may be to much load on for a DA 50 on a pitts muffler. When I ran a pitts on my DA I had a Vess 22B and it was great. I now have a tuned pipe and the 23A which just rips up vertical. Unless I have not made it obvious I think vess props are the way to go. I had a Mezjlik 23x8 on a pitts muffler and on a pipe on my DA 50 and the Vess props kicked its ass hands down, waaayyyy more vertical as well as faster spool up. Just remember the prop you choose has ALOT to do with your exhaust system unfortunately a pitts muffler is not to good for engine performance that is why I went with a tuned pipe. Also what is your all up weight ? if your plane is heavy go with a "A" series vess prop to unload the engine.

RE: Extreme Flight Extra 300, 50cc, 88.5inch Wingspan, Build !!!!!!!
A 45 degree DA would be interesting, the throttle link would have to be redone. As far as exhaust you would be forced to use cans or a pipe but to do it you would have to make your own header to get down to the pupe tunnel. It could work, maybe a big flex header but the header length would change which could affect engine performance. MTW and KS sell DIY header kits if you can weld then you are golden.

Mine was 7 lbs 9 ounces all up weight. Also my CG was about 1 inch behind the spar which is perfect for 3D, it balances close to the yellow trim line on the wing. GC on the spar would be neutral which would be okay for 3D but not ideal.

At 5000 feet you may want to consider getting a tuned pipe, MTW or ES. I really think you will have an issue getting the pull out you want at that altitude with stock exhaust regardless of prop. Keep in mind that during breakin you are only going to pick up 200-300 RPM so not a psycho increase in power. Maybe look into a pipe. Yeah a 22C is the wrong way to go, try a 22A to unload the engine a bit b/c right now you are underpowered. Also I am at 650 ish MSL on a DA 50 with a Vess 23A I am getting 7450 RPM and 34 LBS pull depending on the day ie. temp and humidity ect.

I haven't had any problems with the 1 battery set up although I would never ever do this on my 50CC bird. I have noticed that the ignition draws a lot of power from the battery at 6.0 volt. Tj put a step down in his ignition to keep it at 4.8 volts i am going to do the same it should extend battery life.
