RE: Going to order Great Planes' Escapade this week.
I have the Escapade 60 with a Thunder Tiger Pro61 in it. Love it. Flys great, plenty speed and power for me. Down lines are nice, does land a little heavy but no problem really. Ive had the 40 version as well ( had three of them actually) and def like this one the most.

RE: Are we Geeks?
All I know is that, when I was growing up, all I ever heard and seen was that this hobby was meant for the rich. I can believe it too, considering what we all can end up spending over time, or when we will invest into it every time we want a new or replacement plane/heli/boat, etc.. While not rich, I am sure glad to have a decent job and can afford this hobby and enjoy it for sure.

RE: Getting kinda bored...
I know the feeling... I fly planes, and messed with some helis, and yeah it can actually get a little boring sometimes, especially when the club you are in has shrunk down to just a couple of people that will show up on the only one day a week that we get to fly (at a park).

RE: glow plug thread
Wow, cant believe some people. To have such a dislike for the magazine. I find the articles both entertaining and helpful, and do like to keep up up current events. To say that one uses the mag as a "cutting board" seems a lil bit much to me. Did someone have a bad experience with the magazine or something? I'm very glad to get it monthly and will continue to do so and support it 100%.

RE: Thanx for getting me junkmail
I still cant believe people complain about the magazine. There is simply nothing wrong with it, Its an enjoyable part of the hobby to read and learn about the many different parts of this hobby. Its well worth the price of admission to me :) no matter how costly it gets.

RE: Model Airplane News, then and now.
Thats right, just no time, no patience (and a short fuse), cant sit still and relax long enough, dont want to waste away time building either, just dont have the time, and NO I dont do indoor flying either, I found it boring to me. Arfs at leat give me a chance to build something (ws this impatient when I was young too). I just finished a small arf now, that took almost the whole winter to put together. so glad its now done, got sick an tired of looking at it taking up space on my kitchen table.

RE: Model Airplane News, then and now.
I'ml sticking to my Arf's. I love em. I dont have the time or desire to sit down and read thru a boring instructions when building a kit. Bad enough having to do that with an arf.

RE: Electrics and Glow Airplanes
Nitro all the way!baby! electrics are just boring toys to me. I love that nasty smell of the fuel, and the noise they make (at our field, there are some electrics that are just as noisy though-I like that). I have no problem with paying $20 a gallon of nitro, doesn't bother me. It does bother me spending that on a battery that might take up to an hour to charge it to use it.I ain't got that kind of time.

RE: Back when model airplanes were cool...
I still remember my COX P51 U-control that was a plastic body with a .049 engine when I was a kid. I remember that smell of the fuel and how dizzy id get going around in a circle, and of course since I had no one to teach me, the landings were always interesting.

RE: Why Gassers are more addictive or better than Glows e?
Gas engines are cool, but the investment into it is not for me. I've got too much invested in glow these days to convert over to gas. Besides, the price for a gallon of glow is still cheap enough for me right now.

RE: ARF's ruined my hobby
I too like an ARF. They do it for me just fine. Have built several kits over the years. They took so damn long to build ( i have no patience spending all winter building). I hated every minute of. Just no patience for it anymore. Lately I find arfs are starting to take me just as long to build as a kit. Even when I complete the build, I have to get out to the field as soon as possible, cause im to anxious to see it fly.

I simply joined cause its the right thing to do!simple as that. Not to fond of those who dont like to join ordont like clubs. Would hate the idea of flying alone too.

RE: dle20 or a os 120??
I'll stick to OS. I see too many gas users spending more time tweeking there engines. Seems to me a gas is no better to getup set that a glow engine, and more times than not they seem to take way longer to start.. with all that priming an flipping till it finally starts. WIth my OS, they always start on the first try! Fueling is even easier. None of that mixing ratio of oil to gas, etc. Just pour in the nitro amd lite er up! And its still plenty cheap for me at least :-)

RE: Waiver required?
Hi, I don't know if it's technically 'legal' or not, but I have a friend who has a very big chunk of land in Riverside County, and literally flies his jets in his own back yard. He's got 10 or 11 jets that I know of, and couldn't care less about the AMA, clubs or meets... _____________________________ Yellow Aircraft, JetCat Engines and Turn Key Jets yellowaircraftplanesdotcom How sad. That's gotta be just so boring to fly all by yourself like that. I am glad to be in a club. Seems way more fun to be with others sharing the same interest. I've tried flying alone a couple of times and got so bored I just packed up and left . Just not the same with out others around.
