Spektrum AR6200 and DX6i
With the problems that have been discussed with the AR6200 and DX6i, has it been decided which one is the problem or is it both. If so, is there a fix other than using another receiver. My AR6200 small receiver blinks continuously and has a hum all the time. Guess its bad?

RE: problem tuning
i used a xtm clutch spring that was barely a tad bit shorter for my Firestorm g3.0=.18 and it works perfect. just take it to lhs and try to match it up with whatever ones they have in stock

RE: Need HELP bad!
yea I did some practical research on why they break, and i came up with is .. the holes that are drill in each shoes intersects with the outside groove they put in it, so when you put the spring on the 2 shoes first, before it lines up with flywheel posts, you can see the spring comming down a bit in each of those whole, so when you have it installed, they lay right on the post whenever idle, correct? So all I have been doing is trying to learn and teach myself how to tune the car just so it will run. I know I need to watch my high temps, but whenever I have got it to 220-230, take it for a drive, car comes back with spring broken. those post the springs are sitting on are just about as hot if not the hottest part of the engine. ive went thru 3 springs in 2 days and havnt even got to drive it more then 2 minutes at a time..now thats crazy! and needs to be fixed , looked at whatever!

RE: Need HELP bad!
OMFG! always snapping is damn right, all I am doing is trying to tune it doing circles in my backyard, car dies then I hear a rubbing sound from bellhousing, and bingo! So what are the reasons for a spring to actually snap on you? the clasp part is what keep breaking, also there is a wear spot in middle of spring which puts a funny kink in it. But what could be the reasons for then to break, Id love to hear them.

RE: Need HELP bad!
well I went to local hobby shop, and he looked it up, and he said they dont have one for that size of engine. So I explained to him what they looked like, and he went and produced some XTM springs, and asked if they looked the same...lol I didnt have the broken one with me, so who knows, right. well they were only 2.99 bought em home and they are a tad bit smaller but alot stiffer.. didnt get todrive it to much but seems like its back to normal if not bettter.

RE: Need HELP bad!
so I need to find out what type of clutch it is, right? or does it go by the type of truck you have? This is a firesorm which is a new truck, and I dont remember seeing any clutch items on there website..or it there just a general size or make of the clutch spring? really the spring broke right where it was connected, must of been a bad connection from manufacturer, so I just took the next loop down and attached that one, so we are talking less then a millimeter maybe even half of one. I put it together and it runs like normal. I got everything all dialed back in.

RE: Need HELP bad!
Ok I got my clutch apart without removing my engine, and found that the clutch spring had broken, I pulled off a loop of the broken end and attached it together and mashed it, and now have it all put back together. Im just about to try to start it up. It seems like things are all back to normal. This all should be easy work since I build real CART cars..Swift Engineering Inc. Swift .007, .012 & .016 atlantics.

RE: Need HELP bad!
of course! even thou I aint got the manual anymore, Im viewing the pdf. file on HPI site. One more quick question, How do you get the flywheel to not move while you break the locktited bolt in the clutch housing . I wanna just jam something in there to keep it from spinning, but dont wanna risk marring or gouging anything. Know of any type of little trick perhaps?
ORIGINAL: jonb73188 No you don't. I have the same truck and I had the same problem. Just take off the spur gear and take the screw out of the clutch bell. There you go! It is in the HPI manual if you forget how to do it while your walking from the computer to the table. I sanded my clutch shoes a bit the get the metal off and it works fine. The firestorm is a great truck just gotta know how to treat it.
My computer is my table!!!!

and who in the hell calls it anti clockwise? what kind of chit is that?
ORIGINAL: crash_alot on your tf3 handset there is a clutch nob, ( bottom one of the 2 small ones)... turn it anti clockwise, this reduces the bite the clutch has and slows idle down, stops wheels from moving...[:D] if that fails there is a tiny screw on carb, turn anti-clock wise to slow the revs down, ...[;)]
RE: Need HELP bad!
When I move the dial just barely the idle lowers quick and dies. and on my radio there is only 2 dials 1 steering and the other one is throttle adjustment. no clutch adj. and I am talking about the throttle adj in my first sentence. also when I roll the car it has a hissing sound comming from bell housing area, first I thought it was brake dragging, but I have backed off the detal disks so the are pretty loose, and i can still hear the hissing type sound.

Need HELP bad!
Ok, here we go! I have a HPI firestorm 3.0< the problem i am having is- When I get it started i cant seem to get idle set right. Ive warmed it up and set the high speed adj., and I just leave the other setting alone, since i am new to nitro cars. Well the engine is running and the wheels are spinning and I cannot get idle set right so that the wheels are not spinning. So as soon as I set the car down with wheels spinning the engine dies right away. And also it seems like I can only start the engine with the rear wheels off the ground, ans as soon as I put it down it dies. is this somehow related to the slipper clutch adjustment? If anyone can help me with this problem I would sure appreciate it. [&o]Thank you.

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-
I also had a time starting mine and keeping it running.Today i found loosened bolts on the head.and pullstarter housing bolts where also loose, and that would cause nthe pullstarter to recoil back and kill the engine, guess it would bind in there..because It isnt doing that anymore.(good old loctite).so chec all your engine bolts..Mine was brand new so I guess they let a few get by them.

Chopped The Yard Stick
Well, Here goes my question. I had a stock GP Yard Stick, and while replacing the powerplant on it, the CG shifted. But with my wing brackets glued on nice and tight and wernt going to budge. So had to use some aggresive persuasion and broke my yard stick into TWO........LOL...after cutting off damaged tube on both sections, my yardstick is well short of a yard now....(LOL) my question is that will the length of the plane do anything to it when it flies? Id hate to check myself but ive crashed to many planes alreadybecause of little petty reasons..[X(]

RE: vacuum bagging?
you can try to seal the bag hundreds of different ways, which maybe 1 or 2 of them actullly giving bag a good seal without making a mess(caulk or silicon sealents) Best thing it to find bagging tape, also called cromate., tacky tape or others. i think a company that makes it is actully called tacky tape...do a search of it. also with your new vacuum pump, you will get no pressure out of it...only vacuum which is Hg" (inches of mercury) sounds kinda dorky saying it..but you get used to it. and last is fitting for bag, you can get a vacuum fitting get a threaded pipe bout 3 to 4 in. long , tape on some breather material around the pipe and then hanging a few more in. off the pipe, the hangin part needs to come into contact with the other breather mater'l you have around part or/and around your bag.if you use a sealent tape, just put a piece around the pipe open side of your bag and tie in pipe piece to existing baggin tape.....also check for bridged areas of your bag or release films.you will not get good vaccuum in these areas and eill be more then likely filled with all resin.
