RE: Transmitter operated kill switch ( toks
I wired in a GP ignition switch harness tonight. I tested many times to make sure everything worked as it should. This puts 3 switches in the plane. 1 is the main radio equipment switch, the second is the charge jack switch and the third is the ignition switch that operates the module. The charge jack switch is mounted inside the plane. I figure when I get to the field that switch will be turned on before I button up the canopy. This way with the main switch inside, nothing but human error will cause problems. If the first switch is not reset I won't be able to recharge. By the way can someone describe the Opto-kill switch. Thank you all for the info, John

Transmitter operated kill switch ( toks
I have been getting advise on mufflers from you folks for my first gas plane and it has been terrific. Now kill switches. I have a switch that turns on and off my ignition plus also hooks to the battery and has a charge plug wired in. Problem I see is you have to get to the plane once landed to turn the motor off. Should I hook up a kill switch that is transmitter operated? I purchased one, it has a switch lead, a switch that either turns on or off the power and a micro switch that is servo operated that kills the all power thus shutting down the motor. Am I suppose to use both switches or do you all have a way that is preferable? Hoping for great answers like I received for the mufflers. I hope I really didn't confuse you. Sometimes I have a way of over thinking things. John

RE: Mufflers for gas engines
I will look deeper into some sort of muffler. I saw the muffler inserts from Syssa and I was going to buy but I found no size or price listed. I did see that If you bought one of their motors you could purchase the inserts. I gave them a call and got nothing but an answering device. Hopefully tomorrow they will call. I will now look into J-Tech and see what I can find out. Thank you all for the response. I will post to let you know what I do. Thanks again, John

Mufflers for gas engines
New to gas engines. Installed a 20 DLE in a plane and am very happy with it. Expect the noise. I was told to change the prop. I am getting a lot of cracking from sound barrier speeds of the prop. I am running a 15 x6 but going to try a 16x6 hoping it will slow down. What do you all know about mufflers and where to get them. I don't want to be asked not to fly that plane at our field. All info will be appreciated, John

RE: Gas engines for smaller planes
Thanks for the info. I just bought a 20 DLE to put into the Revolver. I hope the thread go's into some detail on info for a gaser. This is my first gaser and I have no idea where to start. The instructions are half Japanese and half English. Nothing about batteries, switches, layout for EI system and the only thing I did find is mixture and adjustment screws. I will do some searching to find out what I need but figured there would be something in the instructions. I was surprised with the 2 hour break in time at 4500 rpm. Thanks again for the reply. John

Gas engines for smaller planes
First all I am new to this forum in that all I have done was read. Second, I hope I posted this in the right place. If not forgive me. I have a 91 Magnum I had in a 60 size Revolver by Great Planes. The motor gives me nothing but trouble as far as running go's. I have had many folks try to fix it but to no avail. I was thinking of putting a gas engine in it. What size engine do I need and could someone suggest a motor that won't break the bank. I am not a 3-D flyer nor am I one for speed. I just like to fly. Can anyone here point me in the right direction? Thank you.

RE: 2.4 interference
No one has ever given even one though about interference from anything using 2.4 we all figured we where safe. Hard lesson to learn. I was using the AR500 and was not more than 300 feet away. Both my antennas where pointing to the rear of the plane. Another lesson, I need more planning on routing antennas and from now on will pay greater attention on set up. Thanks for the replies. John

2.4 interference
As a member of a club in the process of getting a new field we have been flying electrics in a large parking lot with large lighting poles. Is is possible to get interference from the light poles. I put in a Quaker this morning that all of a sudden went into a down right dive. As soon as this happened I corrected but it was to late. If there is no way to get interference on a 2.4 trans. or receiver what about the speed control or the servos? Electricity and magnetism can cause some strange problems. Any one heard of such a problem? John
