RE: Oakdale, Ca contest 6/25,26
I also want to express my personal thanks to Dick Belden & Sons for putting a great contest. Dick was very cordial and attentive, checking on us at every moment he had. It was very nice of him to ask if my wife and son were o.k. and if they needed anything. I really appreciate that kind of thoughtfulnes. Definitely, will attend more events there. (I have a floatplane, hehe!) Chris Fitzsimmons did a fantastic job briefing the pilots and getting the rounds done in a timely and organinzed manner. Great friendly and professional attitude. Luke, as always excellent and on the ball with the scoring. I am very grateful to Steve Boracca and Dale Olstinske for being my callers and providing witgh their input. Jacob Boracca too. He gave me some great practical advice and tested my Wind 50e to the extreme! Lawerence, thanks as well for your words of encouragement. Well comrades. See in the next contest! RE: Favorite Radio/Transmitter
Ya know I am happy with whatever brand comes out as long as they are good quality. I currently have a Spektrum DX7 and an older JR 8103. Prior to that I had a Hitec Focus 4 Channel and way before that a Futuba Conquest Channel 6 and waaaayyyyyy before that an Aerosport 4 Channel AM radio circa 1983. It depends on the user my friend and not the brand. When look into a product I research price, functionality, support service, availibilit of spare parts, compability and longevity. Do you ??? RE: Seaplane pictures
Howdie guys, I just finished my first float plane project. Actually, I've had this LA Racer .40 from World Models for a while. Purchased Super Flying Models floats from Horizon Hobby last week. Did it all in one Saturday. I am taking this baby to Lake Camanche in CA on a camping trip in two weeks with my family and friends. I hope she flies well. Cheers to all! Carlos T.

RE: 747 AIR FORCE ONE
I checked out your website and I agree with the rest of the crowd. There is no legitimate information on your website. Very oddly, you are trying to build a turbine powered model of Air Force One jet at a realistic scale. I am hoping you are not someone with obscure intentions (terrorist) to pull off some stunt. This the second weird post I have read in the last month. I hope Homeland Security is monintoring these types of messages. Last month another guy was asking how far our radio transmitters could reach and if he could expand the flight capability of a model airplane beyond 10, 000 feet and with camera on board. These type of people should be reported to DHS. Now go home to mama and cry!

RE: Glow vs. Electric. Let the discussion begin.
Hi, I believe that both have their pros and cons. With glow engines, you need to learn how to break them in, tune their idle, find the right prop and spinner set up. It's not that hard once you learn how to. I think you get more raw horsepower out if a wet engine that an electric. Nowadays they are more efficient, lighter and powerful. With electrics, it's another learning curve. Find the right size motor for your plane, watts per pound, minutes per watts, type of cells, lipo vs. nickel metal, the right ESC amp rating. I own both electric and glow and personally have found that electrics are more money than glow. if you are going to fly for several hours at the field then be prepared to have several battery packs, plus a DC charger. I hate waiting for the batteries to charge. With glow, you just pump, place the driver and go. Lipo battery packs are not cheap, especially name brands. I don't think electrics are safer than glow either. If the plane crashes, you need to check that the pack hasn't been damaged. You need to keep an eye on them at home while charging and take precautionary measures on lipos (charge in a safe area, in a metal container or ceramic bag). I overextend my battery time onece and it caused my receiver to lose power and control, therefore crashing my plane. Luckliy it was a park flyer. With glow planes, you have two power sources; your engine and your receiver battery pack. With electrics it's one central power source. Are lipos also environmental friendly? People complain about the noise and pollution that glow planes make. Then what happens with the lipo packs discarded in the trash? Are they recycled or biodegradable? Do they end up in landfills? Think about it. You can recycle a metal glow engine. for scrap metal. I am just thinking this a technology trend and it will plateau over time. Who knows, they might even come up with an electric-glow hybrid some day! In my opinion, I prefer glow all the way baby. Saludos a todos = Greetings to all Your friendly translator Carlos T. RE: Jobs of RC people
I'm an English-Spanish Translator and Interpreter for our School District in San Jose CA. Lots of demand and pay is O.K. We have a great flying field in Morgan Hill. Budget cuts have hit our State hard, especially education. By the way, when I was 12, I used to work during the summer in my dad's second job in the early 1980's. It was a furninture company and the owner would pay me $ 10.00 to clean the shop on Saturdays. I bought my first kit, a Sig Colt, a .15 Thunder Tiger engine and a 4 channel Aerosport radio from Hobby Shack with that money, plus I had access to a lot of cool carpentry tools. Best regards to my fellow modellers. Carlos T.
