RE: Seagull Extra 300S .75 ARF Control Throws
How does it respond at the 3/8" My concern is that 3/16" is going to be unresponsive, and then kicking it into high rates at 3/8" will be squirelly. (spelling?) This isn;t like most of the extra's out there whith large oversized control surfaces. This particular model has the typical "strip" style control surfaces you would find on trainers. THe person I obtained the aircraft from is an "alien pilot" and can handle anything. His throws were setup lock to lock, which will be way to extreme for me. I've never owned an Extra before, so perhaps the small throws are the nature of this plane. I've mostly flown .60 size cap 232's and chipmunks which generally have larger throws than what this calls for.

Seagull Extra 300S .75 ARF Control Throws
I recently aquired a second hand plane, from a club member, called the Seagull Extra 300S .75 ARF The aircraft is in very good condition, and I am going through the manual for the initial recommended setups. One thing that seems odd to me is the initial elevater control throws. on low rate is states only 3/16th's of an inch of travel. This seems excessively low, as the elvator seems to barely move. I've only ever seen this little amount of throw on very small electrics. The high rates call for 3/8" which looks the norm for a low rate. I asked the original owner what he thought, but he can no longer remember what he used. He had it set up with extreme throws that I would not be comfortable with. Any one else out there with experience on this model? I want the plane to perform basics like lamcevaks, roles, spins, knife edge, loops, etc. I'm not a 3d pilot, and prefer a stable, but reasonably responsive plane, without unpredictable "snap"

RE: Motor Recommendations - blade 400
Thanks Doug, Actually at 54.99 it's the same price of the E-Flite motor that keeps failing. So if it lasts me more than 1 month, it would be worth it, to me, to purchase the Hacker motor, and pay shipping, rather then buy another cheap quality (I suspect Chinese) motor from E-Flite.

Motor Recommendations - blade 400
Hello all, I'm pretty new to the workd of electrics. I have a Blade 400 that I fly regularly (about 1hour to 2 hours daily) and the E-Flite motors are failing me. I have had the Heli for 2 months now, and have been through 2 motors, both failed the bearings. In short, I am not satisfied with the E-Flite motors. Being I have no knowledge of electric power systems, I need help selecting a good 400 class motor to put in my heli. I have heard that the Scorpion motors are good, and have replaceable bearings and parts. However, I do not know which model to buy, they have so many! Anyone have recommendations for a quality motor that will fit in my Blade 400?

RE: Kit or RTF????
Here was my progression: Purchased a 50-60 dollar Esky Lama cx 4ch heli, at a local computer store (of all places) Loved it for a while but got bored. Purchased a Esky Honey Bee King II 6ch from ebay for about $150 -good little heli, and cheap to fix. Has some minor quirks though. -like crappy gyro I put a bunch of upgrades this heli, got it flying nice and stable, and still fly it to this day. It has survived through 9 or 10 crashes - make sure you order parts ahead of time, as everything for it comes from China, and it takes forever. This is the Heli I really learned to fly on. And the crappy gyro makes you learn rudder control. Just beacause I was fascinated by them, I purchased a Blade MSR. Very fun fixed pitch micro heli. And is very durable! I've slammed mine into the ground so many times, I lost count. With this bird, you can practice, carefree, because it seems like nothing breaks on it. (Well I had to replace the flybar one time) Then I got a blade 400 The blade 400 is a bit bigger, more stable, has better quality electronics, and parts are available just about everywhere :) The transmitter it comes with is also very nice and programmable. However, unlike the $150 you'll pay for an RTF Honey Bee King 2, you'll pay about $480 to $500 for the Blade 400. However, like the Honey Bee King II, the Blade is also very cheap to repair. I have a CopterX 450 SE V2 (T-Rex clone) in the works, but have not finished it yet. If you really want a cheap RTF that is decent and flyable (within your posted budget), go with a Honey Bee King II, make sure you order a couple sets of spares like blades, grips, pushlink set, tail boom, servos, main gear, main shaft, feathering shafts, etc. Parts delivery for this bird, is very slow.

RE: Balance/Vibration Issue on Blade 400
main shaft and tail shaft have been replaced. Both were visibly bent in the last crash. Basically half the heli was replaced. Last night, I did take the tail rotor off, and put it in a cordless drill and spun it up. I could feel a small vibration, and see a slight wobble. Like the tracking is off. Unfortunately there are no links to adjust on it, So I am going to replace the grips, the slider, and the center holder; then see what happens.

Balance/Vibration Issue on Blade 400
Hello all. I have been flying RC planes for about 15 years now. I got bored with them, and the the whole hassle associated with flying such big birds; so I recently stepped into helicopter ;) I purchased, what looked like a decent quality heli with a good price, and started flying. 4 crashes later I have hovering, forward/backwards/sidways flight, and even loops down pat. My latest rebuild the heli has a really bad vibration, with associated noise. That I cannot pinpoint. The blades I purchased are CF blades, and are identical in weight. They also track much better than the woodies ever did. The Flybar is equal length, also with CF paddles. And the tail rotor is also CF now. Crash part replacements: main shaft flybar tail rotor shaft tail slider tail boom feathering shaft main gear tail drive gear I had upgraded everything to CF, thinking maybe the cheap plastic and wood was off balance, creating the vibration and noise. However, I was wrong. It is still there. At lower head speeds, this does not occur, and the heli flies very stable. But whe =n I kick into 3d mode, it becomes squirelly and makes an awfull noise. You can tail the tail vibrating severely. At the level of vibration I get, I would imagine it will wear out and damage parts on the heli. Does anyone have any pointers for me to weed out this vibration? I would like to start practicing some 3d stuff, however, when the vibration kicks in, it makes the heli very hard to control. Perhaps it is affecting the gyro?

RE: NEWBIE DOING A ROLL
If you are ready, you may also think about removing the wing droops. That will help greatly during inverted flight. Just keep in mind that you will not be able to fly as slow as before during landing.

Control Throw Recomendations - and CG
Hello all, I recently purchased a no name cap 232 .60 size from EBAY. The overall quality of the kit looks quite nice, but the manual is VERY lacking in important information. I used to fly a Kyosho CAP 232 until I crashed it (Hey I got 5 years out of it), and I figured the recomended cg and control throws for the Kysoho would be atleast a close match. However, I have lost the Kyosho manual long ago. Can anyone please tell me what would be a good starting point for control throws and CG on a .60 sized CAP 232? Thanks, Chris

RE: New Hanger 9 p-51 mustang **Trainer?!?**
AAAGH! IT was windy this morning and was supposed to be all day, I've been in since noon
MAN! You all complain about wind too much. If i didn't fly when it was windy, I would never be flying as it is always windy here in North Georgia. I quite enjoy enjoy "hovering" my p51 in a 20mph head on wind [:D] P.S. no training gear on this bird, took it off after first flight. Only use flaps for landing - make a big difference in the amount of BOUNCE you get with the gear on this thing

Hangar pts mustang - retracts
After spending hours upon hours of going through the pts posts, i have been unable to find anything about retracts, other than a few mentionings of them. I have seen many state that there is a post about installing retracts, but i have bgeen unable to locate the post. Can someone please give me a link to installing retracts on this thing. I could robably figure a way out myself, but i would like to see a proven method first. Thanks.
Your first glow plane was a P51 PTS…and you stepped up to a corsair…be my guest…hahaha. The corsair is the most difficult war bird to fly – more difficult with a 1:2 gear ratio engine. This thing snaps like a …I don’t use this word, hehehe. With a ½ inch under the prop you have to be a master pilot to get a corsair 0.40 with a 16 inch prop in the air and land without a cartwheel.
Actually, i find my corsair quite pleasing and easy to fly. oh yeah it's a 23%[:D]

Thanks, but i am looking more for reviews on the mentioned models, and some other possible condidates, on the criteria mentioned. I have looked in the forums on the mentioned models, and really can't find anything mentioning the quality or flyability of those models.

NOOBIE wanting addvice elec. helicopter
Hello all, I currently have about 15 years experience in R/C planes. However, due to my new profession, I now travel alot and need something I can take with me on my month long trips and fly in confined spaces. So I have decided I would like to buy an electric helicopter. I have done alot of research on how a heli flies and I understand the principles and physics. What I am looking for is advice on what electric helicopter would fit my needs.... 1. Flyability- Is it good for a beginner to learn on? 2. Durability - Can it handles bumps and bruises? 3. Maintenance - Is it low maintenance? (very busy, wanna fly not tinker all the time) 4. Upgrdeability - Can it grow with me? (I am very quick at learning things, and get bored easily) 5. Flight Time The models I have been looking at getting are the following... Kyosho M24 RTF Fun Piccolo RTF and DragonFly 4 RTF I am geared toward the Kyosho M24 because it looks robust (and good too) however, flight times are short, and I have heard issues with installing LiPo battery packs. Any Ideas? I have heard alot of good things about the Piccolos, but they look very flimsy to me, and don't seem like they would be very good at all outdoors - even in a 1mph wind. Especially for a newbie. I am attracted to the Dragonfly's because of the price. However, I have not been able to find alot of constructive information on them. My main question is - what is the quality like on these things? Parts availability? How are they in comparison to the other two models I mentioned? How do they fly? Good for newbies? Can anyone let me know? And if you know of something better than the above models, please me know. Chris Walker
