RE: WARNING-X9303 CHAFED AILERON GIMBAL WIRING
Checked mine and mine is all well. I think what I am going to do is take a piece of fuel tubing and slice it then put it over the wires just as a precaution. I talked on the phone to Horizon today and they are doing research on the issue. They also said that there will be a service bulletin issued if they feel there is a problem. I didn't get that warm fuzzy feeling after hearing that. Chuck

RE: RCM Magazine August 2003
Yes I went to the website but it asks me for a screen name and password when I try to access the construction articles. I have tried to dontact them without successs. It seems like they have the information I need to sign in as a guest as they are out of business now. I just can't remember what it was to sign in with. If anyone can get in to the constrution article section see if the Moisquito fast boat article is in there. THen I will keep trying to get the information to sign in so I can download the article. Thanks Chuck

RCM Magazine August 2003
Anyone have the August 2003 issue of RCM Magazine? I have the plans for the Mosquito Fast Electric boat, but don't have the construction article. Lost it over the years. I would buy the magazine or pay to have the article copied and sent to me. Thanks for you help. Chuck

RE: Fast Electric Drive System
carson2 it does look very similar to that model. It doesn't have the full cover on the top but other than that it looks very close. Maybe I can take a picture of the plans and post that. I would be interested in seeing what yours looks like on the inside and where you got your hardware from. Nice looking boat. Thanks Chuck

Fast Electric Drive System
I am scratch building a fast electic hydro that I got the plans for a few years back called the Mosquito from RCM plans. It is about 21 inches long and weighs about 2 1/2 pounds ready to run. The plans show the drive system, but don't give any numbers or who makes drive systems. It shows a tube about 12 inches long with a prop on the end. There isn't any u joints that I can see. I know that there is a cable inside the tube. The plans say it is for a 540 can motor, but I am going to put in a brushless setup with a 3 cell lipo system. Where can I find more info on drive systems and where I can order the parts from? Thanks for your help. Chuck

RE: Spektrum DX6 Training System
Here is the fix I came up with from my local hobby shop. Hanger 9 makes a training cord that you can use a Futaba or a JR transmitter as the slave transmitter. If you use a Futaba for the slave you must remove the module or crytal as you have to power the system up, it won't be done through the cord. I am using the Spektrum DX 6 as the master and have checked the cord out on a JR 783 transmitter and it works great. I will try the cord with my Futaba 8UHP super later and see how it works. It looks very promising though. It comes with the round Futaba plug and not the new square type that Futaba uses. That probally will be the next cord Hanger 9 makes. I am in luck as my Futaba 8 has the round plug. I am a little surprised that Horizon didn't mention this cord to me when I e-mailed them. they wanted to sell me a new JR radio to use as a slave radio. Hope this helps anyone else that is in the same situation that I am. Here is a link.[link=http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=HAN173]Trainer Cord[/link] Chuck

E Flight Yak 54
I am new to the electric scene but not new to the hobby. Been flying planes for 30 + years ( I must be getting old [:D] ) Anyways yesterday I did my first flights with the Yak and it was a blast. Knifedges great, flat turns tight, and does good rolling circles. It even hovers well just need more flight time practice. I can see it is going to be one of my favorite planes. One reason is I can just take it out to my field out back and fly with. It needs very little mixing in knife edge and I haven't programmed any in yet, just mix it myself. I have it setup with a 400 920 kv outrunner motor from E Flight, E Flight 20 amp speed control, 11 X 4.7 prop, and installed a Spektrum DX6 radio system in it for park flyers, and 1 TP 900 mah 3cell pack. I am getting about 8-9 minutes of flight time, which I think is pretty good. Need to purchase more packs as right now I only have 1 pack. Need more practice with the programming before I attempt to setup any mixes. Being a Futaba flyer for over 2o years, I need to learn JR's way of programming since the DX6 is based on JR's styling of programming. Just thought I'd share with you. Chuck

RE: Spektrum DX6 Training System
Thanks AWorrest that is just what I am looking to do with my son. The radio will be an 8103 not the 8303 I posted earlier. I will be wanting the dual rates and expo for him to use as well. I am wondering if I can set the 8103 to be the master seeing the Spektrum receiver is in my plane and that is on the 2.4 ghz frequency. The Spektrum does have expo and dual rates on elevator and ailerons only which is really all I need. Thanks Chuck

RE: Spektrum DX6 Training System
I received an E Mail from Horizon and they said any JR radio with a trainer system will work with the Spektrum. I have a freind that is going to let me borrow his JR 8303 that he doesn't use any more to use as a trainer box. I only have 1 flight with this radio so far but I really do like it. Seems to have a good range and I received no interferrence at all. It is a perfect match for my E Flight Yak 54. Chuck

Spektrum DX6 Training System
I am getting a Spektrum DX6 that I will be putting in the E-Flight Yak 54. I see it is trainer capable and I was wondering what do you use for the buddy box? I have G3 that came with a cable that one end fits JR and the other end fits Futaba which is what I fly. Would that cable make it compatable with a Futaba buddy box or do I need to get another JR radio to use with it? Reason I need to know is my 10 year old son finally wants to fly and he is interested more in the Yak than my LT 40, but I figure on low rates he will do just fine. He has flown my LT 40 before and did really great on that. Thanks for any information. Chuck

Couple of Triton questions.
I have a Triton that I just purchased and it works great. Couple of things that aren't to clear is setting the max mah input and the charge time. I have a 2500 mah nimh pack and I put in 2500mah for the max input. In the max time I set it to 600 minutes at a charge rate of .300mah. The pack shutoff at the 2500mah input setting. This was about 40 minutes before the timer was up. My question is do I leave these settings the same every time I charge, or do they have to be changed when I fast charge at 2.0 amps? I have the peak set at the 5mv setting. This is a new pack. I haven't fast charged yet. Thanks Chuck

Replacing Bearings in OS 46AX
A riend of mine has a OS 46 AX that the rear bearing has a very ruff feeling while turning the bearing. We are going to try the crock pot method to see if possibly it is old oil there that is doing it. If we need to change the bearing I know that we have to heat the eingine up to removing the bearing. Is there a puller out there that grabs the bearing? It doesn't look like there is any way to push the bearing out without removing the front bearing. I quess that when we install the new bearing we would heat the engine again and cool the bearing before install it. Thanks for your help. Chuck

E-Flight Tribute
I am thinking on getting the E-Flight Tribute to try indoor flying with and was wondering how it performs with the stock motor or should I just upgrade to the E-Flight brushless motor? I plan on using HS55 servos a Li Po battery pack with this plane also. Not sure on the receiver and speed control yet. Leaning towards Castle Creations 25 amp speed control. I think Any comments on those would be appreciated also. I plan on doing 3D with this plane also. Thanks for any input. Chuck

Training Mode on Futaba 8U Super
I have a Futaba 8UHP Super that I use for both heli's and plane. I am having a problem with the training mode for planes. My heli is on PCM and when I switch from that to the plane that is on FM, both are on the same channel also, the training mode goes to inh every time. This is after I turn the transmitter off and back on to change modulation modes. The trims stay the same and the control surfaces are also staying correct. The only thing that seems to change is the trainer function is inhibited. Switching back to the heli or any other plane seems to work fine. I only use the trainer function on the one plane and I haven't tried it on another. Anybody know if this is a normal thing or should I have the radio checked out. Thanks in advance for the help. Lap timing system
Looking to find information on lap counting timimg systems. Years ago I used to race and we had rechareable transponders that hooked to the cars. There was a counter that the cars ran under at the start finish line and it would give lap times and lap number. THis system was hooked to a computer and we could print the results and times of each race. I think that it would do 10 cars. Any ideas on who makes this kind of system? Thanks Chuck

RE: Torn between decisions....
I have owned a Nexus and have flown the Venture and I would strongly recommend the Venture. The Venture has nice control response even when set up as a beginer model. When setup right the Venture is a true pleasure to fly, and if you are looking for the better hovering of the 2 the Venture is still the one. The Venture will take you farther when you are ready to get there. I am not bashing the Nexus it is just my opinion, that the Venture, even though it costs more is a better deal. Get the Venture, you'll love it. Hope this helps you and good luck .[8D] Chuck

Although I don't use Airtronics, I went to the realflight website for you and there is an adapter cord for airtronics. Here is a link so you can check to make sure it is what you need. RE: Please help with G2!
First off which helicopter are you trying to fly? Also make sure you have the throttle trim all the way up. It sounds like you have a low throtte trim and that won't let you get the power to fly around good. Hope this helps. If not let me know what happened. Chuck

RE: Losing alot of power under on climbouts ,loaded blades
da_man, You are definetly right about cyclic and pitch management. I have been helping rozzibandit setup his Raptor and it seems to fly like my 30 used to. Always all this will come to him with more gallons burned, but I must say he is progressing very well. As far as the tail goes when I flew it even in a hover the piro rate was I thought slow. I think that it is the gyro that is slowing the rate down. He has a post out for the manual, so next time we fly will look at it and set it up right. Also the radio he has has an idle up, but it doesn't work the way that all of us are used to. It only sets the low throttle position and can't be adjusted to give a curve. So he can't give negative pitch with power that will definetly help with the loops and rolls. Chuck
