RE: Spektrum Telemetry module and iPhone App.
I have a strange thing happening with my TM1000. Just tried to bind it to my JR921 RX. If I plug it into the Data port the RX doesn't go into bind mode, however if I plug it into the Batt/Bind port things seem to work fine. I get telemetry from both Batt1/Bind and Batt2/Data! Is this all a bit strange?

RE: Black Horse Shrike Commander
The twin otter looks awesome. and I love the 3 blade props. I'm a bit of an electric novice, the motor i'm looking at is an Hobby king easy match 32. It is 600kv not sure what difference that will make to prop selection? I bet the hangar 9 plane was a pleasure to put together? Also Joe, are those Master Airscrew props just normal 3 bladders, not electric specific?

Thanks Joe and Kent. I think I will go for the 32s at this stage. Joe what size 3 blade props are you running on your 4s setup?

Kent and Joe, would be able to provide further details on your electric setups. Kent what is the Kva of your 46s and the prop and ESC you are running and Joe I think I have all the details on yours from looking through the thread just not the Kva of your 32s there are 2 different ones from eflite. I will be looking to do a 4s setup for wha ever I go with. Cheers Dale

RE: Aero Works P-51?
Another problem! My left hand flap is binding in the up position. Servo is loaded up which is unacceptable! Love all the ideas in the kit with the sealed hinge gaps but things get very difficult when the execution of the kit is a bit off! Anyone been able to remove the control surfaces?

RE: Aero Works P-51?
Between the flap problem mentioned above and the gear problem that I keep reading about this kit is getting very disheartening. I think the flap problem is a QC issue really and very poor as this is not a cheap kit! Wonder if I bought a TF warbird would I be feeling the same way. I have already recovered the vertical fin as there was a crack in the sheeting where it had been sanded far too thin. Not very excited about this project at the moment. Also is anyone actually using those zebra servos which were provided for the gear?

CAD work
Hi guys, just wondering if there is someone who you can recommend that could design a wing for me. I need specific NACA sections used and washout. Building tabs would be great also. Don't really have time to learn the computer programs that are around. Cheers Dale

RE: Aero Works P-51?
This may have already been covered but I am assembling my wing at the moment and have quite a big miss match between the aileron and the flap on the left wing panel. With the aileron set to neutral at the wing tip and the flap set against the inner part of the wing there is a 2~3mm difference. The flap is slightly lower or the aileron is higher, either way there is a twist or something not quite square. Anyone else have the same? did it make a significant difference? This is my first model with flaps after flying aerobatic type planes for the last 12 years.

Anyone got any updates on their shrike? Interested in how people are finding the flight characteristics! and would love to see a video. I have not seen footage of one on approach and the videos I have seen show it to be very pitchy.

RE: Aero Works P-51?
Great thanks for that. Where do you get the smaller capacity A123 packs from? In other aircraft im running the fromeco packs which are 2300 packs. I will be running a kill switch also so I'm up to 11 channels on a 9 channel RX. Bit of a problem. I am running power safe RX in other aircraft but fortunately they don't have the gear and I'm using manual choke which I think is not really an option on the P-51. I already have a 9 channel DSM2 RX. It that getting to be old technology now, should I be upgrading to DSMX? Not real sure what the difference is!

Just wondering what radio setups are being used in the mustang guys? At this stage I think I'll go with a smartfly EQ10 with dual A123 batteries and a smartly pin switch. Any other suggestions? I only have a spektrum 9303 2.4. I like the Spektrum powerbox setup except for the hugs switch.

I think there will be a lot of pondering and procrastinating going on. You build thread is great and it will be my reference as I build. Cheers Dale

Gaining experience on big aircraft
Hi guys, I am just starting to build a shrike commander from giant scale twins. This aircraft is something completely new to me. Firstly being a twin but more importantly a heavier and scale aircraft wit flaps ect ect. All I have flown up till now is aerobatic planes up to 100cc Sbach, but I don't think that type of flying is really gong to help me wit this plane. Anyone got some thoughts on getting ready to fly something like this. I was concidering buying something like a TF giant mustang or something to get me going in the right direction. Cheers Dale

Covering a P-51
Hi all, I'm considering buying a TF Giant P-51 RTC. I have only used monokote to cover planes before and want to give something else a go. I would have at glassing it but how do I get a good aluminium finish on it? or have a go at aluminium tape but I have no idea where to start with that or what the process is. Any thoughts? Cheers

Anyone else got the OS 200 in theirs? What prop are you running? And what are you doing for a spinner. I have an 18x8 prop and that doesn't really work with a 2 1/2 inch spinner

RE: Pilot R/C Extra 260 Quality and Service????
Manners please hanko. Someone mentioned threads on FG and people over there are saying it. Maybe my pockets are not as deep as yours but I do have a pilot sbach 107'. Have friends with AW. I have multiple hangar 9 planes and in my opinion the other brands are better. These are the kind of remarks I expect from people that push the pilot rc band wagon. Their marketing and flooding on the forums is second to none. I'm not saying not to buy one just wish I had made my mind up based on seeing one not taking the advise given on these forums. Just have a look and compare before you make your decision. Seems to me there are people on these forums that have something to gain by telling people how good certain products are! Again I'm not saying don't buy one. Just make an informed decision. Don't get sucked in by hype. I was first in my club to have a pilot rc aircraft and had it shipped to me unseen.

RE: Pitch Stability
Thanks guys, specifics are EG raven, gold wing yak x2 54 and 55. The 55 belongs to a friend and he is running a DA 50. All have aluminum spinners, mate has carbon prop and I have wood. Rx batteries on wing tube, ignition and battery on engine box. Both running canister muffler setup. One point I'm making is I don't want a heavier engine. These planes are made with these engines in mind, so much so they have drilling templates for them. Is it just poor engineering? We both have pull pull systems carbon tube for the tail spar.
