RE: 160 Fusion
I have run several 160's on either 5% or 10% with wood 18 X 6 props. I tried APC's but they are heavier and don't wind up as quick. I also have never seen the need for a pump, if you get the needles set right. I fly at 1200' and 6000' altitudes.

RE: Nitroplanes 90" P-38 (1/7 scale) with 3 piece wing and more
Ram, It's worth the price of a ticket to see it in a low flyby. Can't tell it is not close to scale. Sure is a smooth and responsive flier. Dale

RE: Nitroplanes 90" P-38 (1/7 scale) with 3 piece wing and more
Hi Rich, We probably won't be up until the second half of May. It was a little breezy and about 69 here. Ram, Spring air retracts with no gear doors, no fancy struts on the LG. I think you will have more than adequate power with the Moki 61's, but it's hard to beat the sound of the 4 strokes. I think Nitro was right about using 52's. I did use a TwinSync with onboard glow, mainly for the safety of engine out. I forgot to take pictures, but it's no beauty like yours will be. Dale

RE: Nitroplanes 90" P-38 (1/7 scale) with 3 piece wing and more
Hey Ram, I flew mine this morning. I didn't go as far as you are with the modifications. I only cut the wings for removable tips and added retracts. I am using YS 63's, 2 receivers and batteries. The weight came out to 16lbs. 12 oz. Scared the heck out of me that it is so much. NO PROBLEM!!!!!!!! It took off like it had JATO. I had the elevator set at neutral and had to give it a bunch of down. PLENTY OF POWER. Most of the flight was spent at about half throttle, except for the loop and victory rolls. Mine is the gray one, and boy is it hard to see. On landing, after I got it lined up, it settled in nicely. By the way, with the gear retracted, the balance needed 1 oz on the tail, which I did not add. The elevator ended being 3/16 down from neutral. Overall, I am very pleased with it. Dale

RE: Giant Fusion
John told me (on Feb. 15) they were getting ready to send wood to the laser cutters and it might take 2 or 3 weeks to have the kits ready. OMP is taking preorders now. He also said they were only kitting about 24 total. Dale

Power Strip
A week or so ago, I saw a post showing a power strip costing $20 that runs the battery power directly to the servos. Now I can't find it again. Can anyone help? Do you know of another low priced one? Thanks, Dale

RE: A new P-38 ARF
I have mine just about ready to go. I am making the final installations now. I made the wigtips removable and installed retracts. Will use a twinsych with onboard glow. What I am wondering is what amount of control travels to use and how the recommended CG works out. I have been thru most of the posts and could not find that info. Thanks. Dale

110 won't run
Troy, I have several 110's, but this is the first that I can't get to run. It is mounted on a Velox inverted. It ran fine for quite a while. The last time I had it to the field, it smoked excessively. When I got it home, I tried to fire it up but it would not. I could prime it and when the prime was gone, it would die. I checked (and changed) the fuel tank, lines, filter, check valve with no success. I adjusted the valves. I pulled the regulator apart but could see nothing out of the ordinary. I am using Magnum 30% YS fuel, YS glow plug. I would like some advice on what to do next, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!! Dale

RE: Giant Fusion
That's good news. I'll put my bid in for Santa, if you think it might be ready by then. Will it have a foam core fuse of a built up balsa? I love the way the Yak 55 flies, but you sure have to be careful when you pick it up that you don't squish it. With the 90 Fusion, you don't have to worry. Also, what type of engine mount? Will it be rails or a plate for mounting a gasser? I guess we can modify it no matter which. PLEASE HURRY, HURRY, HURRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dale

RE: A new P-38 ARF
I guess I will go with that method unless somebody comes up with a better one. Between that and the retract installation, it will be a good winter project. Dale

RE: A new P-38 ARF
I have seen several comments about people wanting to put wing tubes in for removable wing tips. Has anyone done it yet? How difficult was it? I have been thinking about how to accomplish this with the least effort. The only way I can see it being done is to notch into the bottom of the wing when it is still together and lay the wing tube (5/8) with sockets into the notch and reinforce it. Then cut the wing in two and build a pair of ribs to cap the openings with incidence pins (1/4). After that, patch up the bottom and recover the film. Does that sound reasonable or is there a better way?????????? Any comments or suggestions are appreciated. Dale

RE: DX7 and AR7000 won't bind
That has happened to me also. Try plugging the power lead into an open slot (or unplug a servo to make an opening) and put the bind plug in the bind slot in the receiver. Worked for me. Dale

Servos no work!!!!!!!
I am converting all my planes to Spetrum and have run into a problem. I have a 10X with the Spectrum module and an AR9000 receiver in this plane. After binding and removing the bind plug, there is no movement of the servos, even tho the lights in the receivers are all on. This is about the 7th plane I have converted with no problems on the other 6. Any ideas?????????
