RE: Seaplane pictures
Thank you sir. What is the wingspan of the Teal? I found the back issue on FM's website but there are no particulars about the Teal. Thanks

RE: painted iron-on covering
Right on! I'm going for a used and faded appearance. It is to look a little like the old paint scheme on a 1940 WACO that flies sightseers in Myrtle Beach SC. It was orange and cream for many years and this year it's sporting a 4+ year restoration with a beautiful yellow and blue scheme. The orange and cream was cool and I took a 1 hour ride in it about 6 years ago so it's kinda special to me.

RE: painted iron-on covering
I'm going for a satin, slightly faded appearance so a lot of paint to get it to flow out with high gloss is not in my plan. the colors I want are available in the satin variety. Thank you for your input.

RE: painted iron-on covering
Thank you so much for the reply Tom. Since posting and after a researching a little deeper I have decided on Solartex natural and painting the whole thing. I am more comfortable doing that than applying spray bomb over the other colors. Your planes look great and I will follow your recomendations. Thanks agin!

RE: A HOG BIPE BASH-
In response to an earlier post, Yes, I plane to shorten the bottom wing by at last 1 bay per side, maybe 2 per side. I'm tinkering around with my planes again and would like to think the Hawg Fokker will resume in the coming months. My current deconstruction is a Giant Aeromaster bash into a 'SteerWaco'. (had to keep the farm animal theme, I guess!). I cut the top of fuse to create a dual cockpit turtle deck and plan to shorten the lower wing, build Waco style tail feathers, and round out the fuselage with stringers. I ordered the GA as 'Ready To Cover' so deconstruction commenced as soon as the box was emptied! Power is a Fuji 43 cc..with smoke...stay tuned. I'll create a thread for SteerWaco as time permits.

painted iron-on covering
I want to use an iron on covering (21st Century) as a white base on a Giant Aeromaster. Gasoline power is being used so Rustoleum spray bomb for secondary color is being considered. How will the Rustoleum painted areas respond to the occasional 'tightening up' with heat gun or iron? please share your first hand experience. If this subject has been beaten to death please point me to the post as I have yet to find it..... thanks

RE: WACO YMF
Got my YMF cowling from Brad at Stan's Aerofibertech today. Nice piece! To echo what Stickbuilder said recently; a few weeks ago a correct 1/5 scale YMF cowling was not and had not been available for purchase. Thanks go out Stickbuilder for supplying me with an original PICA cowl and blisters and to Brad for producing the parts from my plug. I'm very happy with the results of the effort.

RE: WACO YMF
Thanks for posting the pictures of the cowl. I am very happy to hear positive feedback on the finished part. I have around 15 hours invested in the plug and to hear that Brad at Stan's turned out a nice product makes the effort worthwhile. Looking forward to getting mine. Are you happy with the height and length of the blisters? I looked at enough of them on the 'net to see they vary slightly from plane to plane and I think I hit it right in the middle as far as height goes. Thanks for the kind words.......Jay
ORIGINAL: skylarkmk1 Jay, The new cowls will be great for the Pica or any 1/5th size Wacos. Unfortunately, the profile is not correct for the Cessna 195, the bumps are shorter and higher in comparision.
Thanks Skylark, just going on info someone passed to me! Sure is nice having a bonafied expert around......, Jay

Hi all, received word today that the cowl from Stan's Aerofibertech will be shipped to me this coming week. I'll post pictures as soon as I get it. I think be it'll be a 'must have' if you are doing the 1/5th scale WACO, a Cessna 195, etc. Jay

GP 1/3 scale Pitts
I've searched but cannot find a relevant thread for my question(s). To anyone who has assembled and flown Great Planes' 1/3 scale Pitts Special: What mods or reinforcement do you feel are required? Engine box area? Landing gear? Will power it with a Fuji 50cc, Zenoah G-62 or similar. A simple laundry list of recommendations or link to a thread would be much appreciated.

RE: WACO YMF
Here's how to do the dummy engine- Take a real Jacobs and have it laser scanned ($2000.00). Take the info to CNC router and carve it to the proper size in the negative. Send the negative plug to a resin casting outfit. What could be more simple? May be able to eliminate the laser scan if a digital file of the engine subject is available.
