RE: BIG ENGINE SMALL PLANE
TOM Just makes me crazzy when someone comes on here and makes a comment about the DA 85, proves to me they have no idea what they are talking about, or he had an early one and gave up on it before the fix, whats it been 2 years ? the new 85 has been out? (apalsson) made the coment only about the DA 85, as you know DA had many problems, but have worked them out and the engine is now fantastic, how did you like your DA 85 with the fix ? Yes the 3W 85 is hands down best in it's class, and I do have one. The ZDZ is a grate engine as well, have one. Of all the big singles I own , I have four DA 85 engines, why? because I like them. When it comes to twins, I fly 3W, Why? because I like them. 3W, DA, DLE, MVVS, ZDZ, ZEN, EVO, CRRC, RCGF, JBL, from 15cc to 240cc Take care Dave

RE: lipo battery question
Save that lipo !!! Most of the time you can bring back a lipo from the dead, never had any bad things happen doing this BUT, do it out in the yard , not in the house. let's say you have a no voltage 11.1 V pack , take a good fully charged 11.1 V pack and parallel plug, plug the good pack to the bad pack and let it sit for about one min, if your pack is going to come back it will within that time. This should get your pack up to or just above the low voltage for charging. I have jumped a 11.1V lipo with an 14.8V lipo for a few seconds and this also works, no bad things happend, I have not left them connected any longer than a few seconds . Best to stay with the same voltage packs. That bttery may never be as good as new but it will come back, always balance charge at the lowest power setting you have. Or just buy a new lipo, they are cheap now.

RE: BIG ENGINE SMALL PLANE
ORIGINAL: apalsson
ORIGINAL: daveopam If you are just after power, put a DA-85 on it. David
A nice side effect from that is your plane will vibrate apart in 10 minutes. DA-85 = vibrator = ladies engine [:D] If you're after that effect, why not an MT80? .. a lot more power, not all that more vibration [;)]
The new or updated DA 85 is NOT a vibrator, try one or better yet let your ladies try one and you will soon be geting more action. DA did a great job with 85cc , one of the best of there many geat engines.

RE: servo slow
Hyperion HP-DH20-UTD, HV Programmable , Titanium gear, 333 oz, high voltage, speed from 1% to 100% with no loss of resolution. USB cable from your PC to the servo and change the speed , travel, center, rotation 15 to 70 degrees each way, reverse, dead band 0-16 , I had to try them, bought the servos and usb, went online to download the software (free), easy with no problems. I slowed 2 servos down to 5% speed for flaps, Nice with no TX programing at all, nothing more to buy or plug in to get nice flap speed and match deflection, less than 5min from box to program and 2 servos ready for flaps. Use your A123 or lipo's with no problems Price $44.95 servo $17.95 for the usb
ORIGINAL: Tisoy909 kmtranmd, Can you let us know how it works out with that motor/prop combination, wouldnt 21 inch still be a little on the small side for the 85cc? I do know its a 4-blade you will run on the DA but i was thinking perhaps 22 or 23 would be more suited. Please let us know. Thanks. Louie
That is the prop to use , had it in my first P 47 /DA 85 / 21x11. awsome power , great speed , easy landing. Was thinking of using the Biela scale 22x10 this time around , only for the scale looks, but am sticking with what works, the fuchs 21x11. The new updated DA 85 with this prop has 0 (Zero) vibration. RE: New 50cc Hellcat is for real
ORIGINAL: rctom
ORIGINAL: SpinnerRow Any chance you guys will produce a P-47 or P-51?
Both the P47 and P51 have been done to death, so that's not where I'm looking first. At our field you ''can't swing a dead cat'' without hitting a P47 or a P51. What we ARE planning is a 77'' Spitfire that is designed around the DLE-30. The prototype is under construction now and as soon as we get the Hellcat into production I will start doing the flight testing of the Spitfire. Like the Hellcat, the objective is to produce a plane that is very close to scale, light, is easy to fly, stable and solid, and make it fairly easy to assemble also. A scale warbird for the average guy who isn't a world class modeler but will still make the average pilot confident flying it. TF
Tom , Please , Please make a 50cc spit

RE: 86
ORIGINAL: Rebel Flyer Is this thread about a FULL SCALE P-40 or the Top Flight P-40? I checked the cowl size and found the Da-85 will fit in the cowl, but really? Do you plan on hovering the P-40? It is a 22 pound airplane. The Da-85 will shake it apart. If you have to go bigger than anyone else, then pick up the new Da-60 available soon. Same size as the 50 with alot more power. The firewall is marked for a DA, DLE-50 or a Fuji-50, but not for a DA-85. Also set up for right thrust and down too. Spinner is set up for a DA-50. Looks like it will take about 30 hours to complete this model. All it will need is a little exhaust staining and some nomenclature and it will still look like an ARF. Good luck Rebel
Really? the DA 85 after the updates or a new one has no more vibration than a G62. The power to wgt is perfect and a correct CG is easy with no added lead. Centering and mounting an engine ? really, 22/24 lbs is right on mark for the 85cc, also let's you spin a more scale size 3 blade. I have 3 DA 85 engines 1 has all the updates up to the last for vibration, 2 have full updates, I can see why the early DA 85 gets it's bad rap, if you have not had a new or updated engine you should withold from coments until you try one.

RE: Open letter to Xu Liang (RC EXL) ignitions
Well said, Ralph is first class in every way ! Need help ? give Him a call and He will talk all day as if you had known Him for life. Try this one on for size I sent Ralph a ZDZ 80 for a new IGN and CM6 conversion, about a week went by and united plane smashers drops off a box, it's my engine back from Ralph, all the work and new ign installed as He said it would be. What blew my mind about this deal ? Ralph did not call or e-mail for payment , He put a bill in the box and shipped it out. This was my first deal with Ralph, we had only talked on the phone when I called him for help, and He is very nice to talk with as well. Bashing Ralph here or anywhere is not the wise thing to do, He has worked and helped many in his time. Ralph ,Thank you. Dave
Aircraft INT, fuchs 21x11 4 $140.00 , perfect for the 85, had one on mine from day one , till the wing came off , now it's a 2x11 4 Great power, very fast top speed and great low speed landing, I miss my plane. If you doubt this prop choice, buy it, if you dont like it drop me a PM I will by it from you. Sorry put the wrong info NOT 21x14 but 21x11 4 Dave

Thanks , I wish we could tell , the fuse is gone in that area, the wings are missing the 2 dowles, not broken out but pulled out. The wing came off on a low high speed pass, slow motion for me, The wing just ripped down and off from the front and spun down to the ground, happend so fast the engine never reved down after I chopped the gas, went in full speed. Makes me kinda mad to have a plane go like this, she flew awsome and landed nice. Not sure if I will do this one again. Dave

I did have a video cam on board but could not find it after the crash, weeds were high and bugs were bad , I do plan finding the camera, I had it on the H stab so it will show the wing rip off. I am now running a 24X14 prop on mine and i fly this bird hard ask anyone who has seen it at a show. TF did a great job and this plane hold up to the abuse. Everyone said it would shake apart bla bla bla. Here it is a year latter and shes still going strong. My new on will have the 85 in it as well. http://www.wyliewarbirds.com/projects/tfp47conversion/index.html
The new or up dated DA 85 has NO shake at all , I was shocked when I started mine after the up date, New piston and correct timing with a loss of only 30 rpm , I can live with that.
