weigh out the pros and cons of the "parts situation" if your hobby shop stock parts for the heli they carry it might be worth it to buy that one.... I've heard great things about both of the helis you mentioned....I guess its up to you ;)

RE: Shogun v2
If you like the shogun platform check out the Cyclone 400 AlphaX. I sell them so I am biased. For $169 you get a G10 frame, metal head, metal tail, CF mainblades, and Aluminum landing gear! check it out at www.rcepower.com there are several options inregards to motor/esc combos as well. BTW most of the critical parts like the spindle, and mainshafts are interchangeable with the shogun. Size wise the cyclone/shogun is about 3/4 that of a trex

It probably won't be able to support the number of servos required to operate a heli at the desired voltage required.

The dark knight is the same as the Walkera 22E, and NR3D. The qualitiy of electronics might vary, but the parts are all interchangeable. I would suggest swapping out the electronics with your own stuff.

RE: venom nightranger 3d parts advice
If you snapped it off you'll have to mount them using a small bolt. If you can find something REALLY small (sub 1/8") if you bought a new flybar control system it is CA'd on...which I don't like

You need to put the battery as far forward as possible. They are really squirrely.....I wouldn't recommend it as a beginner heli...for the price a coaxial is cheaper and better

You might be able to, but I wouldn't risk it. Try to find something rated for over 20A. You're better off going too big than too small when it comes to ESCs...IMHO

RE: phoenix 25 speed cont.
I should note that I had both the CC25 and CC35. I didn't have any issues with either, but the BEC on the 35 melted the heat shrink..didn't fly bad or anyting, but I wouldn't think the bec would do that especially if it is designed for helis using 4 servos+ gyro part of the reason why I'm switching to quarks33a...

Glad to help...also be sure to get som heat sinks...they'll help to keep the heat down, and extend the life of your motors ;)

not really...that still puts "a load" on the motor and can cause the brushes to wear unevenly.... the idea of the break in I suggested is to have the brushes wear evenly ;)

RE: Please give advise on replacement BRUSHED motors (HB CP)
One thing that really helps is to "Break in" brushed motors..... when I flew brushed setups I would break em' in with a low voltage setup: I would plug the motors in to a 2-4 cell NIMH packs and let it run in each direction for 5 minutes or so. This makes A HUGE difference in the life of the motors both main and tail also make sure to use heat sinks, and if you're using a high voltage setups....only run the setup for a few minutes...heat builds up quickly and damages motors ;)
