AVALANCHE XP Steering Slowly???
I upgraded to the high torque hitec steering servo, but the steering seems slow. Any reason for this to be happening? Any possible fixes. I removed the steering from the servo arm and move the wheels and it feels like there is some tension, but I don't see anything rubbing. I would think being removed from the arm they would just flop around with no resistance, but they don't. Any ideas? Thanks.

Redcat Aftershock 3.5 question
Just wondering if anyone has taken out the front drive shaft to make their aftershock 2wd. Anything that could go wrong doing this? Been thinking about doing it. Thanks

Linkage Problem?? I think.
I have the aftershock 3.5. Recently when I am driving it if I engage the brakes and then let off of the brakes the throttle is engaging a little bit without my pulling it. Any linkage gurus know what I should do?

I just masked off the design and sprayed the dark colors first. I used racing red and outlaw black. Rattle can paint for lexan. Thanks.

Here is my Redcat Aftershock 3.5 with the Proline Desert Militia body that I painted and some proline wheels and tires. Also a pic of the baja bug body I painted for it.

Dealers In Houston, TX
Does anyone know if the only dealers in the Houston area are; Razor Hobbies Gulf Coast Hobbys New Generation IVO 1 RC Motorsport I usually go to Razor, but they have been slipping lately and never have the parts I am looking for. Gulf Coast is Closed. New Generation, sound like a bunch of morons and don't have the upgrade parts. IVO 1 RC doesn't answer the phone and I am not driving out there to find out if they are open or not. There has got to be more dealers than just those in all of Houston. I hope so at least. Thanks

Nikko Hi-Roller Camaro 90's
Just wondering if anyone had any technical info. I just pulled mine down from the attic because my daughter is getting into RC now that I've bought myself a hobby grade nitro truck. The car still runs, but it doesn't seem to want to turn. Can I use a different radio and how do you check a steering servo on those old things? Thanks

RE: Aftershock Pictures (Let's See Them)
I like it too. I think I like my desert militia body better, but I took more time prepping the paint job on the truck body than I did the bug and that probably has a lot to do with that. My next truck is going to be a 5T and I can't wait to paint a couple of bodies for it. I think it will be easier just because there is more room to lay down clean masking.

RE: Aftershock Pictures (Let's See Them)
I thought about doing that, but it looks more realistic and just plain cool with the mowhawks in front. Plus, I figured that most of the power is going to the rear wheels anyways and the mowhawks will help with steering in the dunes.

Let's see some pictures of the Aftershocks. Nitro or Brushless. Mods, Bodies, Paint jobs whatever you want to post of your truck. A couple of pictures of mine. One with the Desert Militia body, One with the baja bug body, and both with the proline split six beadlocks with mowhawks and slingshots.

RE: AfterShock 3.5 Aftermarket list?
I have the aftershock 3.5. The slash 4wd wheels work perfect. I have a few proline bodies that I have painted that were for a slash. Also, my latest body is the baja bug that is for a slash, but I noticed that the rear mounts were further apart than redcat's stock ones. So, I ordered some traxxas slash mounts just to use the rear one. It bolted up just fine. No mods required. I am going to find out today if the rpm bumpers that are for a slash will work on my truck as well. Then there are the typical aluminum upgrades that you can get for your truck.

I can tell you that the proline split six beadlocks work that are for the Slash 4wd work. I have some pics in my gallery if you want to take a look.

RE: 1/10 scale short coarse???
The Aftershock is listed as a 1/8th, but proline bodies that are made for the Slash, which is a 1/10th fit it nicely. I have some pictures in my gallery of the set up. It is 4wd and is available in nitro or brushless.

Sounds like it would be right about the same as far as hp. Rpms are slightly higher than the SH which is about 38,000 I believe. I've been looking around too. I have the Aftershock 3.5.

RE: Paint Removal
I called the hobby shop I got the paint from. It is Pactra Racing Red. Its Laquer based paint. He said to thin out some laquer thinner and use a cloth and wipe it and it should come right off. I'm going to have another wrag ready soaked with water so the thinner doesn't sit there on the lexan for long.

Paint Removal "Small Area"
Hey guys, Just wondering if any of you might have a good technique for removing some paint from a small area. I painted a maltice cross and some flames on one side of my new body and it is still masked around that area, and I haven't done the other side and it too is still masked off. But, I don't really like the way it looks and I want to just remove the cross and flames and do something a litte simpler. Any good ideas as to remove that paint from that area. I have heard dot 3 brake fluid, isopropol alcohol, and even soaking it in water and then peeling the paint off. I want to know if any of those would work well or if you have any other ideas. Thanks.

Hey everyone, Just wondering if anyone here knows if there are any aftermarket front and rear bumpers that fit the Aftershock. I just bought another body and a different style bumper would really help. Proline or someone make one that will fit? Thanks

RE: New to forum and Hobby
Thanks. I basically just told the guy at my local shop where I bought the truck to order me every aluminum upgrade that is available for my truck. I know some redcats have more upgradeable parts than other, but they all have some. urchobby.com has them pretty neatly laid out per vehicle. as far as the exhaust goes that is kind of confusing. they all say tuned pipe, but you don't know which is better or what kind of a tune it is, mid-low or upper. I would just go with a jammin jp-3. it fits most of the sh engines which come in the redcats and is a good low-mid range power pipe. you can find it for around 60 bucks depending on where you look. that is the one i told the guy to order for me.

RE: Redcat Aftershock 3.5 Pictures
i've been looking at some other bodies too. i ordered some extended body mounts from himoto racing so I could run the proline baja bug body. i've started sketching already and trying to come up with a cool color combo. I really like the flat or satin black look, but it is hard to achieve since the lexan outside shell is so shiny. it automatically looks clear coat shiney when you are done. here are a couple of more pics of the truck as i started and the stock body.

RE: New to forum and Hobby
Welcome. I too am fairly new to the hobby and the site. I bought an aftershock 3.5 and I did all of the steps you did as well. It is worth it. I also went to my LHS and told the guy to order every single upgrade part they have for my truck. I figured if and when one of the stock parts breaks I will have the aluminum upgrade ready to install. Enjoy the new truck. I have attached some pics of mine after a few cosmetic upgrades.

Redcat Aftershock 3.5 Pictures
Hey everyone. I recieved my christmas present to myself a few days ago. I ordered some proline split six wheels and the mowhawks for the front and the sling shots for the rear. Let me know what you think. P.S. The body that is on there is the proline desert militia that I painted a few weeks ago. The exhaust deflector is the Traxxas black deflector. Thanks

RE: Redcat Aftershock 3.5 steering issue
ok so i'm just temporarily unplugging the throttle servo wire and plugging in the steering servo wire and using the the throttle stick to turn the wheels and see if the come back to center. So, if the do return back to center then the problem is the reciever, if they still don't return to center then it is something else.

RE: Redcat Aftershock 3.5 steering issue
Let me make sure I have what your saying correct. Your saying to put the servo that wasn't working back in and swap places with the the throttle servo where they both plug in? In other words unplug both the throttle servo and steering servo and plug in the steering servo where the throttle servo was and plug in the throttle servo where the steering servo was plugged in?
