RE: UH1-Minititan (Update Photo)
I was in the Cav, 6th Cav stationed at Ft. Hood, 1st Cav units was also there. If it was a medical heli it usually may have had a gun escort but dont think they were armed themselves. You'd be hard press to find one armed.

RE: UH1-Minititan (Update Photo)
I know it isnt very important, but the medivac UH-1 Hueys with machine guns is wrong. If the heli sported the red cross, it was unarmed. Medical choppers were unarmed. BTW these are some nice looking Hueys

RE: New Honey Bee, questions, thoughts, criticisms
I have several of the older Honey bees. One thing I do like about the newer ones is the chassis looks a whole lot better and more sturdier. Probably added a little more weight but in the case of the Honey bee, that is a good thing. It will also make installing into a full body much easier -I had to throw that in there. Im not sure if the update frame only applies to the Fp because I sure would like to put this frame on my Honeybee CPs. Come to think of it, Im wondering if they discontinued the Cp. If so, thats sad. Anyway, im a modder so I may just buy a few frames and convert all my fps and CPs over to this frame.

RE: Best Airwolf?
I only tried answered the question, Best looking. My humble opinion, Sorry if it offended[&o]. objective or not, I really dont know to many people unless they are a dealer that deals with multiple brands which can really give an non objective answer because if you only have experience with say HeliArtist or a Fusuno or a Darth or a High Torque or a ScaleOheli then it still is just an opinion and the individual giving the opinion really has no clue whether or not which is best because they have not the others to make a non objective comparison. As far as advertising everything posted here in the forums (This one or any other) is advertising whether it be directly or indirectly. I would have rather perferred to stay anonymous but RCUniverse required the info be included in my signature. The most I have ever done here mabey is post a pic and try to help out and share in some of my creations or even a how to. I dont post where to get, how much or even my website.

[X(]
It is one of mine but just repeating statements made from some who have gotten one. Not pushing one way or the other but a question was asked and I just threw it out there. I made mine from actual airwolf drawings and photos. The only thing that may not be to scale is the tail end opening for the tailrotor gearbox. I guess making something negates me from participating in the answering of a question...... I dont always post trying to push a widget, I also fly and been flying helis for 6-7 years. Not just in it to make money Im a RC hobbyist too. I have a rep to uphold.

I saw this comming. Proprietary systems just arent good. Seperates has always been the way to go. Any heli you actually need software and a computer to program dont seem right either.

BK-117 450 size
Heres my latest project. [:D] Im using a King 2 chassis with an esky Belt CP motor and main blades and the tail is driven by an electric geared tailmotor off an AXE CP. Flys greatly. Note: Any 450 size chassis will fit as well as the King2 (modified with 450 size motor and 450 size main blades)

RE: putting a fuselage onto to my king 2
I personally would not put a scale body on any heli that Im not proficient at flying. AS a new pilot, one should have at least mastered taking off, hovering , forward flight and nose in hovering as well and landing smoothly.

RE: Scale Build Request
I have several and mainly its a matter of screwing the chassis down to a chassis plate .(4 screws) Elevated tail is another mod but for the sake of time mounting most 450 scale bodies isnt a real big chore. Its quite simple.

RE: 3 second hover
Practically its almost impossible to fix this. I have had this happen to me a couple times before. The end of the wire thats in the plastic isnt smooth. It has like splines on the end. Sticking another wire in the end may last a few flights . Mabey getting some CA glue in there may help.

RE: optional CX2 bodies
Best try not crashing into things such as walls. Most bodies have to be light weight so it wont cook your motors and or electronics. more weight the more amps , more amps more heat. These helis do not like alot of extra weight, it will lead to the demise of the speed controller. Sometimes a fuse mod may be needed. There are no doubt other fuselages or bodies out there. I myself does a KA-50 scale body for the CX also I do a wasp body and also a few made up bodies for the CX helis They arent damage proof as in the event of a bad crash.

RE: Genesis 450PE
The fuselages are made of High Impact polystyrene and can be easily painted and detailed. They are light weight perfect for the 450 class helicopters needing no other power upgrading.

RE: scale body
I fly all my fuselages with the most common standard setups. You dont have to use any special or bigger battery packs or any special motors to fly my bodies. The fuselages are light weight and the fly really well on most standard 450 size helis and power systems. As far as the A109 I do have one. I just put my Belt CP inside of one. I dont do retracts on many of my models, I myself try to keep it simple basically to show a person can still have a nice looking scale heli without investing alot of time and money. The landing gear on my 109 is fixed but the nose wheel does caster to allow for ground taxing .

RE: Genesis 450PE
The best way to source a body for your heli is not necessarily going by a scale size such as 1:24, 1:18 etc... Scale sizes will differ between model sizes Example a 1:18 size Blackhawk or Apache can be used on a 450 size heli but a 1:18 scale Kiowa or MD500 cant . The same scale Kiowa or MD500 would actually fit the Micro size helis such as the Blade Cp or HBCP2 . Things to keep in mind are, does the model need to have the tailrotor up on the vertical fin such as the blackhawk or Apache or can it be left on the heli stock tailboom locale such as that on the Kiowa/Jet Ranger or MD500. I think the genesis 450 PE is pretty much a typical 450 size heli therefore finding a fuselage shouldnt be a problem. Scale flying is basically flying the helicopter like the heli it is scaled after. Doing what the real fullsize helis do. Do a google search for "Darthdrk" and you will come up with quite a few bodies to choose from for the 450 size heli you have

RE: My Belt CP caught on fire :(
The fault can be related to two possible known issues: The esc is underpowered you really need a 30-35 amp esc for the belt CP, not the 25 amp. Another issue is the motor mount bolts could be a hair to long and touching the motor windings which will cause a short and toast your ESC. There is a place called dealextreme.com that sells the dynam 30 amp ESC pretty cheap.

RE: EXI-450 discussions/mods/scale projects
I orderd a computer monitor once from a company and it shipped UPS. When they delivered the box, you could hear broken glass inside the box [:@]. I bought a PS3 game console which was shipped UPS, it to came cracked all up as if it fell off the truck. I cringe everytime the ups truck rolls up. I dont even think the USPS is as bad as UPS. Have you ever tried to file a claim with UPS ? Good luck.

RE: EXI-450 discussions/mods/scale projects
ORIGINAL: DumbDawg I would think the tail motor setup is cheaper that the belt link up... not sure which way I will go on the raised tail yet as its about a month down the road for me or as soon as I finish the DragonFly. Out of curiosity what motor do you use in the tail?? And do you have to fashion in a platform or bracing of sorts for the motor to be anchored to?? I can't see the body shell being that strong as to not have a motor just screwed into it and being strong enough to withstand the vibrations etc... I'm pretty certain I'll go with the biggest blades I can fit on it and still have the motor be able to spin them. I'll have to take some measurements and likely get some woodies of cf's to run on it. But if you stick some bigger blades on let me know how they work out, I'd be interested. So you are running lower headspeeds with higher blade pitches... Is this set up in a programmable Tx I'm assuming... what would ur pitch curve be??? The motor I have on it now is a 3500Kv but it sounds scream'n fast but which its only spin'n about 2700 right now. So slowing it down wouldn't be a problem either as it has tons of power thru-out its powerband... I'm sure it would take off at 1000 if I set it up on the 6i... So if I can I'd like to slow the headspeed down some, even if its only a couple hundred rpm's... I may even play around some with the EXI with the DragonFly body on it and see how slow I can take the headspeed and still ave enough lift and tail authority to fly it without fighting it... Always something to play with on heli's... lol happy fly'n
If you go the ETM route, keep in contact and I will help you get it setup. There is no added bracing for the fuselage tailboom. It is strong enough to handle the vibes. I do include a small moulded piece for a tailmotor housing off a micro helicoopyer . For a tailmotor Im using a Helimax axe CP tailmotor which comes with a pinion which is a drop in for almost any standard tail setup off a micro helicopter such as a Blade Cp or Honeybee CP2. Its pretty easy and simple to setup. Im using a GWS ICS 300E ESC . Mabey when you get ready to do yours, I can build one at the same time and take step by step pics for you to follow along and post them in a build thread. I am running a lower blade speed with a higher blade pitch . I am also using an Esky 6channel Belt CP transmitter which all the adjusting is done with the knobs on the transmitter. I think when its all said and done you will be surprised how easy this is. The main chassis will bolt/screw down to a platform and the tail rotor setup will just basically screw in. What I like about this is that i can remove the chassis and tailrotor and install it in another heli with such ease. You can even convert back to belt drive in a matter of minutes. It neat when you can take one heli to the flying field and have a change of several fuselages . You can swap out a fuselage while a battery is charging and you will end up still waiting for the battery to finish charging because its really that simple to accomplish.

RE: EXI-450 discussions/mods/scale projects
Ive been flying 315mm on my Blackhawk, I also use them on my Hind D. As far as a scale looking rotordisc size, its a little small but the heli flys fine. Also keep in mind Im using the electric tail motors. With my setup, I can slow the rotor down to where the speed isnt screeming, allowing the blades to swing at a higher pitch which does not effect the tailrotor . Its sweet. A belt driven tail system, you cant do that without loosing some tail effectiveness (Just my guess cause I never tried a elevated belt driven tail on my elevated tail scales). Yesterday dabbling with my Hind D, It was really neat watching the heli hover about 4 inches off the ground and not wrestling it to maintain control. Rotors were turning slow and responce was even scale like. With the ETM, you flight time will also be a little longer (At least what I have documented on mine). The only thing running down the inside of the fuselage tailboom is wires to the Electric tail motor. There is a big weight penalty going with a elevated belted tail rotor. I will try some 325s on the mains to see if there is much of a difference but the 315s work great.
