RE: Sukhoi Su-26M BNF by ParkZone
ORIGINAL: speedy72vega Well, bad news [:@]. After waiting 16 days for my parts, it doesn't work. I decided to hook up the motor and ESC to test run it before I went through all the trouble to mount it in the plane, and it doesn't work. According to the programming sheet that came with the ESC, i'm supposed to get two beeps out of the motor when hooking up the battery- nothing. I tried hooking up the battery with the throttle in the full up position, that's supposed to make it enter programming mode- nothing. Twice, after hooking up the battery and moving the throttle down, the motor started turning, but very slow and jittery, then it quit and wouldn't turn at all (still spins very freely by hand though), almost as if the timing was set incorrectly. Problem is, I can't get it to go into programming mode to change it................ I'm not sure if it's the motor or ESC, i'm going to do some more tinkering tonight after work.
Make sure your radio throttle is all the way down and the trim lever for throttle is all the way down. Ron

UHU usually dries but stays like rubber. The plane is a Tiny 3D I built from foam I ordered, the electronic parts ordered from HKing. Its a full size foam plan offered on the following site free with many others including the Sumo group. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=851608 You can build a foam plane for 5 bucks, 3 servos 7 dollars each, a motor 10.00 a speed control 10.00 GOOD TO GO! Radio you have and need a receiver which you can share with other planes you make. In my case Spectrum 6300. Ron

Don't over build your mount as weight will hurt. You could also just UHU glue it the the foam if it allows and it will do the job. Ron

I do not think the seller will back out. The dx7 Heli pack is a great deal. For $379 you get a tx you can sell for around $200, an RX that runs $100, and four digital servos, that sell as a group for $50. That is close to cost, retail. But if you are a retailer that would work. Fern
Tim you can also just buy the DX7 without the servos, that you might not use ,and save money. call power hobbies, they sell it without the servos. Ron

RE: Sukhoi Su-26M BNF by ParkZone
ORIGINAL: FERNDALE AIR FORCE Ron, the FAA, by executive order under Bush by the way, convened a private/secret committee to make rule for the SUAS(small unmanned arial systems) that is a big net and catches all rc planes. The committee put out it's recommendations a couple of months ago. AMA was represented, but due to the gag rule they could not discuss the committee prior to the recommendations. I posted a link to the ama page about it on the last page. I do not know if you are aware of this but techically you are supposed to check the FAA or AMA for any notams now. Your sukhoi is covered under the rules. If there is a major event they ban all flying for 25 miles. That got attention during the conventions last year. Fisrt Person View(FPV, is generally a gps guided plane with cameras and long range. They do not need you to see them to fly them. AMA has basically banned them. You can use them, but tou must be in visual contact at all times and have a spotter while wearing the headset. The guy that owns the lhs was telling me of a close call between a passenger jet and one of these planes at 7000'. He's a GA pilot as well as an RC pilot. The other big issues are the hard ceiling of 400' everywhere not just within 3 miles of an airport, overall speed and jet turbines very existance. And of course they could just ground everything. I think that they are going to do something along the lines of requiring a park pilot card at minimum, and have really strict rules for bigger and faster RC birds. I think as long as a tier based approach is used, then smaller planes and park flyers and micros in particular should be safe even from Insurance games. I think the big IC planes are probably in trouble and will face restrictions. I think the only way to sway the committee is with congress critters, but they seem a bit busy right now. So we have to wait. I was unable to find a general thread on this topic on RCU. I apologize for going this far off topic. Walkera 54, Tim just called. Thank you sir. Tim
Thanks Tim I guess this is another 911 thing. Maybe its needed somewhere. They were worried about a local RC flight field close to the local mall awhile back. I guess a plane could carry something dangerous. Even a small nuke in a large RC PLANE. If your mad at Bush just wait. FORGEDABOUTIT! Thanks Ron
ORIGINAL: micro_builder I heard about the FPVs as well...some guys flying their models up with ''the big boys'' (read as passenger airline jets!). I think if you start doing things like that, you're gonna have a lot more than to worry about than the AMA. Yikes.
What is FPV'S? What happened? Ron

Can anyone tell me just what is going on? What rule? No flying in public areas? Ron
ORIGINAL: FERNDALE AIR FORCE Nope, I think you have it covered. And since AMA has the whole park pilot program I think that is safe as well. I heard yesterday what got the FAA's knickers in a knot was FPV flight, and that is how they moved in. I also carry an open membership. Tim
If my drill bits don't have numbers on them what size would it be? Ron
ORIGINAL: Pecanpatch The JB dried with a dimple in it. The drill naturaly went to the middle.
