RE: Hollister, Ca. contest Sept 15 & 16
Hi Jon i am going to try and make this one, i plan to fly either the phoenix 8 or the tiporare in classic and my 2 meter plane in sportsman the tipo will easily fly the masters pattern but i may be better suited flying the advanced pattern, but if there wont be many others flying i would opt to fly... eight looks like. thats what the plans i have show as well. i'm sure joe did some trial and error to come up with this number. we didn't have mixing radios back then and dihedral was one way to fix roll coupling. Dave.

I'd have to agree with that. they used to look all streamlined now they just look like a carp that somebody tossed on the levee and left for a couple of days. but they do fly nicely. Dave.

a zingali propeller is a "zinger" it was known as a zingali way back in the 70's when Joe Zingali started the company. you'l notice that most say JZ on the props. AKA Joe Zingali Dave jr.

the guy he sold to was Howard Osegueda (pronounced osegada) he was one of my dads best friends, unfortnately after buying the shop he ended up in some personal problems and had to sell the shop and ended up divorced. howard was a great guy, fantastic builder and unfortunatelly died about 1988. i still miss old uncle howard. RE: Old 27mhz radio to 2.4 What to do with the trims?
well i just mounted the digital trims behind the cover plate the circuit boards can be tapped to 4-40 pretty easily. i did two one was a futaba gold style and the other was a KRAFT series 75 both used dx6i guts.

RE: Alcohol and your AMA chartered flying club
its kind of hard to tell who is drinking and who isn't when the drinks are handed out in the active pits. its not too much to ask people to wait till everyone is done and the field is closed at an event before the drinks are mixed ard poured in the pit area. at least in my opinion. better safe than sorry. i.m sure the AMA would agree. if you want to mix alcohol at a race in the pits, it should be methanol and nitro

RE: Alcohol and your AMA chartered flying club
i pulled this off of a scale racing thread i was not at this event but at the next one a month later the same thing was happening and there were people still flying while the drinks were being mixed in the pits. the official event was over but there were still people testing. seemed like a pretty bad idea to me.

RE: DLE-111 first start... warranty used, but things are looking good.
some where around 2 mins some thing goes from right to left across the camera was it a piece of prop? im not sure. but definitely just before the prop shreds a piece flew off on the left side. looks like a tip, maybe an inch or two long. watch it again i dont have sound right now so i cant hear it but that might help to see the piece fly off(less distraction) Dave.

i test flew the tipo yesterday, WOW what a great flying airplane. allmost no mixing will be needed. i was doing point and slow rolls on the test flight. knife edge as far as you want to go with allmost no corections. no wonder these were so popular back then nice design Mr Hanson. Dave.

RE: LOOKING FOR TIPORARE TEMPLATES
the way i have made firewall templates for glass fuselages is to make a template of the outside of the fuse in the right spot then cut it about the thickness of the glass smaller, then sand it to fit after some trial and error. i usually use cardboard but the wire idea souds reasonable, then cut a cardbard firewall to test fit before going with wood Dave
